Beautiful winter park. Words cannot really tell!!! It takes you 15mins on MRT to the park. Lots of places that you (and your kids) can play with snow, take photos. Strongly recommend to visit this park if you travel to Sapporo in winter

Best place to go to see the shimaenaga birds! These birds that are only found in Hokkaido in the whole world so they’re quite a rare sight to see, I definitely recommend squeezing this place in your itinerary to see them! Come early in the morning, by 9 all of them had pretty much left the park so I recommend coming between 7-8 for best chances. I followed the sound of high pitched chirping and found an entire flock of them at the very tops of the trees. They may be hard to see if you don’t have good eyesight, binoculars, a professional camera, or an iPhone 14 Pro because they are really tiny and hang out at the very tops of the trees about 20 feet off the ground. I have perfect vision so I could spot them well enough with just my eyes but just be warned if you have bad eyesight to bring your glasses or a pair of binoculars. We managed to take these photos with the iPhone 14 Pro camera on RAW mode zoomed in at max but a normal phone camera or normal camera without some crazy huge attachment won’t be able to catch them. These birds are so incredibly cute and probably my new favorite birds now after coming to Hokkaido!

Also, if you don’t care much for looking at rare birds this is also a great park for fun snow activities if you come in winter. They have tubes you can borrow for free to slide down the snow hills, an ice slide, and it’s also a great place for snowman building, snow ball fights, and snow angels! Definitely recommend coming here for all sorts of fun activities!

Maruyama Park is a must visit location for anyone traveling to Sapporo during the autumn season. The park is transformed into a colorful wonderland when the leaves turn red, making it a great place to take a walk and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The park is also located next to the famous Hokkaido Jingu and Maruyama Zoo, making it a great place to spend the day with family.

Absolutely stunning park to visit at spring, you can see many locals and tourists having their sakura viewing session while having a picnic beneath the trees. The park is spacious, clean and is definitely a good place to hangout, socialize and just enjoy the beautiful scenery around. Would definitely come here again for a picnic.

We went during Golden week, and it was very pretty. There are a lot of people there, lots of posing for pictures, but the Sakura are very pretty, tons of pretty flowers. Even though we didn't spend a ton of time, it still looked like a good environment, there were a few families there, just a beautiful environment

Great Winter Walk in the Park

If you’d like to walk in nature during the winter with snow everywhere, then this is a great place to consider, especially if you are new to this kind of experience. There are tracks to walk, so you need only to follow these.

Some tracks lead to shrines, some, to the zoo, the baseball park and some go up the mountain. Be sure to get a map of these tracks so you won’t get lost. In any case, there are quite a number of people who visit this popular park everyday so it is unlikely you will have no one to turn to in case you need help.

My advice is to stay on the track as much as you can even for photos. Some parts of the park have snow that is pretty deep.

It’s a place you can have some
nice and quiet moments to admire nature and also get some very beautiful photos.

Great zoo for family even in the dead of winter. My family is looking forward to returning in the summer when we can see more animals in their outdoor enclosures.

I like walking in the park and hiking for view, i would said this is one of most beautiful and WORTH IT park in Japan when there no snow of course, u can go to the Hokkaido shrine as it is connected to each other, sit chilling for peace of mind or do a 1hours hiking(the path is not too high neither too slippery with well sighted view for you, don forget to bring right shoe), ohh and sakura blossom around late March to late April.

It's a trip to Japan that I started walking a lot. From now on, 18,000 steps - 20,000 steps to Japan, a country that I walk a lot. Haha.

Costume madam brought all 5 of us to Hokkaido. The North hunts for Sakura. It leaves early in the morning and ends in the evening for those who like to take pictures. Last year, let's look at the other 2 younger brothers who came who needed someone. You might have to try it once and madam. This year the hunt for sakura has always been challenging with requests being released multiple times over several days. If anyone would take her first, she would arrive at the university dormitory to start her student life about children and would always be number 1 in the past.
