Nakajima Park Reviews

We visited on October 10, 2023. It's probably a couple of weeks before peak autumn colours but still worth a visit. There is a lake with some ducks and it felt peaceful. A section called 日本庭園 (literally Japanese Garden) is particularly picturesque. Good for a stroll or just sitting around breathing in the fresh air and relaxing. Highly recommended.

Came here in January 2024 and it was covered in deep snow, extremely beautiful. There are 2 subway stations nearby. There’s free snow-walking facilities available for rental as well. Bring a plastic sled and your kids can have hours of fun in the snow here!

The public park has a bit of everything from beautiful trees, ponds, creeks, museum, athletic center, observatory etc. We were fortunate to be there on November 7, during which fall foliage was getting peak, albeit late this year 2023. The park is full of vibrant red, orange and yellow colors. Ginkgo leaves are all yellow on tree branches as well as on ground like a carpet. Maple leaves around the pond are also turning orange and brightly red, mingled with green willows and pines. The park is not crowded, we can stroll around tranquilly. It is strongly recommended for visitors to Sapporo to add Nakajima park on the itinerary.

Love the snow this time of the year, very fluffy. Snow boots recommended. Lots of dogs also getting in theor daily walks. Can't wait for the next season to see how tjis park transforms. Get off Nakajima Koen, exit 3 to land right in the middle of the park.

October 24 2023 pictures for people hoping to catch peak fall foliage. We're probably a week or 10 days from peak. The park is just turning color but there are selected spots where the colors are at peak. Lunch at the Kitara restaurant next to the concert hall was very pleasant

Visit on a cold day. Everything is frozen and so white, yet amazingly beautiful. Hope that I can visit again during spring or autumn

Love walking in this park after fresh snow. It’s is eerie and the scenery is just magnificent. It is really close to the active part of Sapporo.

Absolutely my favorite park of Sapporo. The foliage/fall color was amazing, we went in the afternoon. Highly recommend it for great photos or just a nice walk!

Beautiful green space. Good children's playground. Multi age groups. Puppet theatre opposite. They run shows in Japanese but my English speaking daughter still loved it.
Baby ducklings in the pond. Beautiful nature stream.

A huge, sprawling park less than 2 kilometers from Susukino.
It has walking paths, shade trees, restrooms, and some very interesting sites, e.g. an actual working observatory, shrine and a classic hotel.

The teahouse garden behind the Meiji era hotel is fantastic. Grateful to have seen the fall colors here..

The observatory inside the park is a must visit. There are several historically important monuments and buildings. You can relax near the pond or sit on the grass and chill.

I really like this park so much , it’s so perfect for chilling and having a picnic , there is a lake in the middle , quite and many commuters pass through it also The cherry blossom trees were so beautiful In there .

Beautiful and peaceful park in Sapporo and one of the best places to see cherry blossoms when they are blooming. The cherry blossom season up in Hokkaido is about 1-2 weeks later than Kanto/Kansai region so if you want to see cherry blossoms, I highly recommend considering flying up to Sapporo just to catch them. If you do, this is a great place to see them. There's so many things to do in Sapporo and the surrounding areas too.

MAGICAL! Sapporo has a very unique, spectacular and perfectly maintained park! It's big and various, with lots of different trees, plants, ponds, tiny bridges, many benches.
I was there one morning at the beginning of November 2022, it was very quite with few people - mostly photographers, both professional and amateurs - people walking dogs, others bringing their child for a fresh walk and people just sitting on a bench reading the newspaper. Lovely! I took some nice pictures with my new Pixel 7 Pro.
I think there's a public restroom as always Japanese people do.
Definitely recommended!

Serene and relaxed atmosphere. Great place to take a walk.
Conveniently located near susukino station.
Would definitely want to come back in the fall to see the colours

Visited the park on Nov 6, 2023. The trees, like sentinels draping the park in a vibrant canopy, burst into a breathtaking spectacle of yellow and red leaves. An alluring pond gracing the grounds of the park, serves as an ideal backdrop for spectacular photographs, its tranquil water reflecting the fiery foliage above in a harmonious blend of serenity and beauty.
