The view of the Petra valley is definitely worth the climb up to this place. There is also a tent at the top offering tea, coffee, etc. But there isn’t much to see in terms of Nabatean structures, just a couple of columns.

It was an awesome place to visit! We did struggle to find the right spot - we went too far and landed up at an abandoned tea shop at the cliff edge. Look for a fork in the road with some small steps carved into the rock face.
Also be aware that it's A LOT of climbing and steps to get here - more so than visiting the monastery.

The High Place of Sacrifice (al-Madhbah in Arabic) is one of the highest easily accessible points in Petra, perched on cliffs that drop an almost sheer 170m to the Wadi Musa below. It's just one of dozens of High Places perched on ridges and mountain-tops around Petra, all of which are of similar design and function.

There are several steps to climb to reach this place (the trail starts not so far from the Theater), but it will lead you above Petra on a scenic route to a beautiful viewpoint. The surroundings are gorgeous and it is quite the satisfaction to spend a well deserved rest after the 30 minutes or so ascending to the top.
It is also possible to hire a donkey-ride if you are not into steep climbing.
The alternate route downwards through Wadi Farasa is recommended as well.

The steps are well-maintained and take at least 45 minutes to reach the altar area. The route is steep but manageable.
It's worth sitting here and just watching the daily activities.

Long walk up here but a great view when you get there. There's the altar/sacrifice area itself, but also a nice place to sit and admire the view a bit further along.

Absoluut aanbevolen.

About Petra
Historical place in JordanPetra, originally known to its inhabitants as Raqmu or Raqēmō, is a historic and archaeological city in southern Jordan. Famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system, Petra is also called the "Rose City" because of the colour of the sandstone from which it is carved; it was famously called "a rose-red city half as old as time" in a poem of 1845 by John Burgon. source
