Another underrated site, people just walk away when I visit there. It has a great view of the old theater where you can also take amazing photos without the crowd gathering.

One of my favorite spots inside Petra to take photos with

Monumental theater at the end of the Street of Facades. The Theatre was chiseled out of rocks, slicing through many caves and tombs in the process. Thousands of people used to gather here to attend cultural performances.

A Ampitheatre dug out of the rock and sections being vaneered by marble.

Carved from stone hundreds of years ago, the Nabatean Theatre in Petra, Jordan is an architectural marvel. Ascend hundreds of carved stairs to find a huge open-air theater with amazing acoustics which enables sounds made on the large circular stage to carry to the seats meters away. Stand on the same stage where events and speeches were once made, connect back through the ages, and imagine Nabatean culture at its height. The theater pays tribute to the sophistication of these ancient people, made evident in the sheer size, acoustic mastery, and enduring legacy of this carved natural wonder.

Amazing place to walk around and discover history. Basically cappadocia meets luxor. You can actually feel the scale that history had here. With the nabateans, greeks, romans, all there! The rock is beautiful.

Walking a short distance past the Treasury you'll come across the Nabatean Theatre. This massive theatre has been cut into the hillside and is surrounded by nearby sandstone walls littered with ancient tombs. It's worth seeing and it's too far ahead and there's toilets on the way!

Hope to see you on another adventure!

Surprisingly well-preserved. It’s really impressive when you realize it’s actually carved and cut out of the solid rock!

Incredible historical place of Nabataean theatre. One of the remarkable places in Petra, built by the Nabataean Kingdom under Aretas IV around 2 thousand years ago. Having Roman routes the amphitheatre was built in a specific Nabataean style. Worth a stop on the route and a more detailed exploration. It's also possible to climb up the opposite side hill and have a perfect view from the top.

This large theater is one of the centerpieces in the area. You're sure be amazed of the architecture. Be sure to take your time here since a lot is to be seen. You're able to walk around the theater and take the stairs for an even higher view. Certainly one of many impressive areas.

An amphitheater in the desert, something truly rare and unique. Adjacent to the road it is impossible not to notice it. Still in excellent condition despite the passage of time. Really nice!

Imagine a 8000 spot theatre curved into the stone! It was built around the 4th century BC. We walked by it on the second day of our trip on our way to Al-Khubtha Trail (the green one on the map). Going the trail takes around 2-3 hrs. but it will bring you amazing view points staring at the theatre, or the treasury. Definitely worth doing!

Petra Theater (Arabic: مسرح البتراء) is a first century AD Nabataean theatre situated 600 m from the centre of Petra. Substantial part of the theater was carved out of solid rock, while the scaena and exterior wall were constructed. The theater's auditorium consists of three horizontal sections of seats separated by passageways and seven stairways to ascend. The theater could accommodate a number of approximately 8500 people, more than the estimated number of Amman theater.[1] Petra Theater follows similar architectural patterns of Roman theaters, which enhances superior acoustics.[2]

About Petra
Historical place in Jordan

Petra, originally known to its inhabitants as Raqmu or Raqēmō, is a historic and archaeological city in southern Jordan. Famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system, Petra is also called the "Rose City" because of the colour of the sandstone from which it is carved; it was famously called "a rose-red city half as old as time" in a poem of 1845 by John Burgon. source
