Dalur - HI Eco Hostel & Cafe

Very friendly atmosphere, helpfull staff, clean rooms and fresh bedding. Very recommended for by a car travellers, also good buses communication. Commonly young travellers, school groups (a bit noisy, but only in the mornings on their picking up time))) Good value for money! Definitely gona use it next time. Highly recommended!!!

My favorite hostel in Reykjavik.
I stayed here 3 nights. Everything was perfect and on the order.
Self check in worked perfectly and I checked in after midnight easily.
The receptions were so kind and answered my unlimited questions carefully.
I liked the kitchen, that was cozy with nice view to the campsite.

The only negative point was distance from city center, but for me as a person who loves waking in center and suburbs that was okay

A hostel. You don't expect much and you don't get disappointed. What else is there? No complaints really, can't blame them for how people are - somebody snoring or being drunk, not being able to clean after themselves in kitchen - those will always be everywhere. Regarding the location - if you choose the place, you have taken in account the location. How could you complain about it? 25min walk to city, but public transport is everywhere, BTW.

A very clean hostel, spacious resting, cooking place and showers. All the linen was outstanding, friendly staff at the reception and a very good location in town.
Smooth check in and check out procedures, we stayed only one night before an early departure at the airport but everything was nice and functional.
I recommend it.

Popped in on a long walk around Reykjavik. Lovely coffee and cake break before entering Botanical Gardens. Beautifully kept establishment. Family friendly too.

Hostel with great facilities (private room), friendly and efficient service, luggage storage and flybus pick-up/drop-off location. There is a Busline to the city center, or a lovely 20 min walk along the coast will get you there. Beds were comfortable in a clean room.

In terms of travelling Iceland on a budget this is easily the best option! It is a little bit out of the town centre but all the activities I did had a hotel pick up option so I just took advantage of that. It was still walkable though, about 25 min walk to the centre and all flat. Beds were comfy and had a shelf with a light and plug socket

Friendly, helpful, engaged staff. Spent a few days here. The common area is a comfortable space to spend time. The hostel is conveniently located on a bus route that goes directly downtown. Breakfast offerings were completely satisfying with protein, and veg options as well as cereal and toast. Also the pool next door is worth a visit.

Clean, comfortable warm rooms. Shared kitchen, nice terrace, safe. 40-50 minutes walking to the city centre, but you can take a bus 14 that takes you there directly in 20 minutes.

What a great place, a hostel where the whole world passes in front of you simply spending some time at the reception!
Travelling with kids we have loved the common kids area just in the center of the entrance, with a huge window where you can look after your kids while they play and you can relax sipping a tea.
Located very close to the city center and provided of everything a traveller might need, from a fully furnished kitchen to a nice bar.
Very recommended it

The rooms were good for a hostel and included everything I needed. The food was excellent at the hostel, thank you chef Linda! They were able to cater for a gluten free diet.

I have been a regular visitor to Dalur hostel for my morning coffee latte and banana bread, and I must say, it's always a pleasure to stop by. The coffee latte is consistently delicious, with a rich, smooth flavor that blends perfectly with the frothy, creamy texture of the milk. The baristas here really know their craft, taking care to prepare each cup with great attention to detail. And the banana bread is the perfect accompaniment, with just the right amount of sweetness and moistness to balance out the coffee.

One of my favorite features of the hostel is the beautiful terrace with a view of the park. It's the perfect place to sit and enjoy my coffee and banana bread while taking in the scenery. The ambiance of the hostel is also very relaxing, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere that makes it a great place to start the day.

Overall, I highly recommend Dalur hostel for anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying coffee experience, with the added bonus of a beautiful terrace and great ambiance.

HI Dalur Hostel is excellent!! Its in a part of Reykjavik that tourists rarely see. That has a lot of nice amenities (botanical garden, zoo, etc) Great way to change up your trip.

The city swimming pool is a very short walk.
Facilities are clean and friendly (with laundry available) The front desk girls Katie and Morgan are absolute dolls. Cute and great customer service.

It's a lovely place. Pocket friendly and spacious rooms, 24 hour access to guest kitchen. Kids playing are is very good my kids loved it.very generous staff. Beautiful hearted people. I recommend this place 😊

Excellent hostel. We visited in early January and stayed in a 4 person room. The morning after we arrived the other two guests left and we had the room to ourselves for the rest of our stay. The hostel has free guest parking which was very useful as we had rented a car. One thing to note; without a car it may be difficult to get into the city centre as it is located on the outskirts of the city.

Loved our stay here. Super clean huge rooms, nice amenities and great common spaces including an outdoor space. Bus stop right outside and the staff was helpful and friendly. My only issue was that one of the kitchens was pretty gross. That's more the fault of other travelers but still the hostel's responsibility to maintain it.
