What a beautiful place to be at ❤❤❤ it’s lush green and once you reach the bridge so can enjoy the free fish spa in the river. One of the most relaxing and beautiful experience. The trek is definitely worth the final destination! Few important information about the trek:
1. It takes around 1-1.5 hours to reach the bridge, can vary according to your speed. But to return back it takes longer time since one has to climb back the steps so it requires more energy and stamina.
2. The trek is closed on Sunday, so plan your journey accordingly.
3. The sunset happens around 5 PM 🕔 so start the trek early morning so you can cover the waterfall as well.

One of the best experiences of my life - eating an apple while listening to "Look at the Sky" by Porter Robinson and gawking at this magnificent wonder.

Is it difficult to reach this place? Yes.
Is it difficult to climb up once you're done? Most def.
But is it worth it? Absolutely!
There are many times in life when you think you'll be doing something just once in your lifetime. This will definitely end up on that list.

Must do trek!! You should definitely include Blue Lagoon and Rainbow Falls in this trek and not only return from Double Decker Bridge. You'll enjoy the water at Blue Lagoon, don't miss this experience. Also if you're trekking on a sunny day, then Rainbow falls also becomes mandatory as you'll be able to see a rainbow in the waterfall due to sunlight. Overall a must do trek ✅

What an incredible place and wonderful sight all around. A magnificent Waterfall a living double decker bridge lively cheerful sight all over. One must visit this place. A tedious trek with over 3000 stairs down but worth every effort. Words , photos or videos may not provide full justice to the amazing feeling one gets there. All the tiredness goes away taking a dip in a natural pool from the waterfall. Just sit there and enjoy the wonders of the incredible engineering of mother nature and humanity. Although this place is visited by so many people, the originality and raw nature is still preserved.

Trek to double decker living root bridge is an adventure in itself.. I would highly recommend to visit the rainbow falls as well which is around 30-45 min walk from the bridge.. that is the show stopper for all of you guys who loves waterfalls.

This is definitely one of the amazing marvels of nature. The bridge is all natural and formed from the roots of the bridge. There is a trek of close to 3500 stairs one way to reach the bridge. We stayed overnight at the homestays near the double decker bridge and I would recommend doing that who are amateur trekkers. There is another trek which leads to blue lagoon and rainbow waterfalls ahead of double decker root bridge which I will be covering in next video. This should be a top priority while visiting Meghalaya and if you are a nature lover.

Very much soothing place. You can just sit here and relax for hours with your legs in flowing water watching the bridge. Trek to the bridge is bit moderate level. Descending is way more easier than climbing back. But the experience is worth it. Staying in Village for overnight will give you lifetime exp.
We visited in the month of April. Atmosphere was pleasant.

The buzz outside Tyrna village (starting point) is abundant every morning with people from all around the world wanting to trek down to the double-decker root bridge.

The arduous journey of 3500 steps is exhilarating, exciting, and yes, extremely tiring. However, the efforts are worth it when you finally reach down (we took 1 hr & 10 mins) to see the marvel itself.

As we started off at around 8 AM, we were fortunate to find the place all for ourselves for at least 10-15 minutes. The atmosphere by the bridge is calm, pristine, and relaxing. Just dip your feet in the glistening water and enjoy it as much as you can before other trekkers finally make their way down.

Don't worry if you are out of food or water. The entire route is abundant with local shops selling everything from Maggi, water, biscuits, local lemon juice (highly recommended), and even energy drinks. The prices will be more than the MRP, but understand that they have to carry all that down through the same steps.

While a guide is not compulsory, having one helps to tell you more about the place, keep your morale up, and pace you properly towards the destination. Our guide (Keetu) skipped the single decker bridge on the way down giving us the much needed time at the actual destination. The board outside the main entry point will say it is compulsory to have a guide, but it's NOT!

If you manage to start by 8 AM and reach the bridge by 9:30 - 10:00, you can spend an hour at the bridge and then go further to the Rainbow Falls (highly recommended). We completed the entire trek (bridge + rainbow falls) by 4 PM ensuring that we completed it before sunset.

We have completed this one of the toughest trek in India.
You have to go down around 3.7k stairs and climb up the same to experience this beautiful natural bridge formed by the living root bridge
Once you reach the bridge all your tiredness will vanish seeing the beauty and you'll get to experience natural fish pedicure
Pineapples found there are yummy
Overall a mesmerising experience we had

One of the most beautiful (but hardest) treks in Meghalaya. I feel it's something you cannot miss, just enjoying the scenic beauties on the way and finally reaching the place are sights to adore. Overall, it's one of the top places in my heart :D and I would love to do the trek again someday.

What more can I say about this place that hasn't been said already. I thought it will take me 5-6 hours to finish this trek but I did this trek in 3.5 hours. You don't need a guide, it's very simple. Just follow the trail and stairs. Do buy the stick though as it helps you while climbing back. Visited in December 2023

From Shillong, hire a taxi or book a bike to Cherrapunji or Mawlynnong, where many of these bridges are located.
Be prepared for the first 3000 stair down to the base village and then there you have to hike like 1hr to the double decker bridge in between you can see dense forest and blue lagoon waterfall.

The entry charges are 100rs pp.

It was an experience, I am not sure how else I can describe it. At the first 1900 steps we can see the longest living root bridge. And then some 1200 steps and you can reach double decker bridge. It is a wonder that nature created such a bridge. But wouldn't say it's a scenic beauty. It's a natural miracle. At the double decker we get to see three steps of waterfalls also, just small ones. And it has lots of fish, you can get a natural pedicure done 😜.
But on the way to the double decker, there is a blue lagoon, below a hanging bridge. There is a water fall and a lagoon. It has clear blue water. It's so beautiful. People can do swimming here, they provide life jackets. They even sell tshirts and shorts for swimming and towels too for 150Rs each. They have a small changing area made of tarpoline.
It's cold and clear water and the falls is really beautiful.

Nongriat's Double decker living root bridge.
One-of-a-kind, totally unique double decker living root bridge found deep down in a river valley next to the village of Nongriat. These living root bridges are created out of entaglement of roots of rubber trees.
The trek spans an average of 3km. The initial descent from the roadhead is a relentlessly steep one with approximately 3000 steps that feel like they go on forever. After an hour, you will be at the halfway point at the village of Nongthymmai, which has the longest single root bridge in the world.
From here, the trail flattens out a bit and enroute we cross two rickety wire bridges over subsidiary rivulets where the water collects in pools giving a pretty sight of turquoise blue.
Furthur 1000/1500 steps before getting to the ultimate prize the Double Decker Living Root Bridge.

We started the trek at 9:15 am and reached bottom at around 12:00. This trek is not for anyone with BP or similar kind of medical issues as this is an exhausting one but worth it.

Worth Watching It. But I will recommend to visit those people who can walk fast. As there is more steps to go around 4000-5000 one way.Best season I think is after mansoon.50 Rs.Per head entry and please don't follow google map route from cherapunjji as there are more steps by the route suggested by Google.Go to tyrana village side.
