Amazing structure! A must-visit.
Hundreds walk on the bridge in the evening.
From above, you see the river, the cruise, the vibrant markets, and vendors selling vegetables and whatnot.
Truly incredible India!

It's the most beautiful attraction of the city and one must spend sunrise and sunset on the bridge. The most important fact about the bridge is that there is no nut or bolt. Also, enjoy the scenic view from the ferry.
One of the main attractions of Kolkata over the Hooghly river.
What an amazing place to visit. This bridge is always busy, so many people, cars, tuktuks, carts, going to and fro on it. It was such a great feeling walking on it, and experiencing this.

Howrah Bridge is a major attraction in Kolkata. It is near Howrah Railway Station, just in front of it. The bridge is also known as vidyasagar setu and connects two banks of Hooghly River. It is one of the oldest and a huge Cantilever bridge without any pillars to support. The bridge is entirely made up of iron steel and undergoes maintenance every year to prevent corrosion. It was built during the British era in such a way to allow ships to pass beneath it. The unique design of the bridge 🌉 makes it a tourist attraction. It is a two lane bridge and also allows large vehicles to pass through.
However the maintenance is not up to the mark and people are destroying it by spitting gutka juice.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the iconic Howrah Bridge in Kolkata, and it truly lived up to its reputation as a symbol of the city's rich history and vibrant spirit. The sheer magnitude of the bridge is awe-inspiring, especially when illuminated against the evening sky.

Walking across the bridge offered a unique perspective of the Hooghly River, bustling with activity and the constant flow of life in Kolkata. The architectural marvel of Howrah Bridge is a testament to the city's engineering prowess and a captivating sight for any visitor.

The blend of modernity and tradition is beautifully encapsulated in this structure, making it a must-visit for anyone exploring Kolkata. The view from the bridge is breathtaking, and it's a great spot to capture the essence of the city.

While the bridge itself is a marvel, the experience is enhanced by the surrounding atmosphere—the sound of honking vehicles, the scent of street food wafting through the air, and the energy of the people. Howrah Bridge is not just a crossing; it's a journey into the heart of Kolkata.

One of the oldest steel bridge build in British time. Near Howrah railway station. Don't go with more expectations and normal bridge with steel build in British period. Visit night time then can experience the lights then it fells good

The bridge is 5-10 min walk from Howrah junction station and you can feel the bridge shaking if you stand on it for some time (say 30 sec to 1 min).. the architecture of the bridge is quite good.

Book a ticket for Launch to Howrah Junction for 6 Rupees (one side) and go to the other side of the river by the Bridge and then take a walk back over the bridge to the other side again. It will be a great experience for sure as it combines both the view from river and view while waking down the path.
Howrah Bridge is a must visit attraction in Kolkata. Built on the river of the Hooghly, it's not only just the medium of transportation, it's more of a heritage.

Howrah Bridge is known as the pride of West Bengal and specifically of Kolkata. This bridge is also known as the Gateway of Kolkata was inaugurated in 1943. It is 80 years old bridge that connects the cities of Howrah and Kolkata and runs a length of 405 metres with a width of 21.6 metres.

Howrah Bridge is a Cantilever Bridge built over the Hooghly River in West Bengal. It is considered to be one of the longest Cantilever Bridges in the world and also known as Rabindra Setu, in 1965 it was renamed Rabindra Setu in the name of the great Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore. It carries around 100,000 vehicles and countless pedestrians daily.

One of the interesting facts of the Howrah Bridge was constructed without using any bolts or nuts. it was the third-longest cantilever bridge in the world at the beginning of its construction but currently, it is the sixth-longest. One of the fact is that 26,500 tonnes steel was utilised for its construction produced by Tata Steel.

You know what, "Tram" was the first vehicle to cross the Howrah Bridge. According to the census of 1946, more than 27,400 vehicles, 2997 cattle, and almost 121,100 pedestrians travelled through the bridge daily and this number has outgrown over the course of time. In 1993 Trams were prohibited from using the bridge because they could not take the escalating traffic and footfall.

If you are near the Howrah Bridge, you must visit it once. The Howrah Bridge night view is breathtaking as it gets lights up and makes you fall in love with this magnificent beauty.
