Sandy Bay Divers at Blue Bahia

Two days of diving for four of us, ranging from Discover Scuba to deep wreck diving and a night dive.

John and Kristi, the owners, were highly responsive, with great communication through the planning. They were very friendly upon our arrival and throughout our experience.

Instructors, dive masters, and boat captains provided quality briefings and well-planned and well-guided dives. The whole team at Sandy Bay was great!

The reef was a bit bleached out, but there was abundant life, including turtles and rays as the highlights for me.

I wholeheartedly recommend this dive operator.

Absolutely Fantastic
This family owned dive shop is located a little off the beaten path a little north of west bay Roatán and is completely worth the stop! If you are doing multiple dives during the week they give you a locker to store all your stuff for the duration of your trips. They provide you with everything you could need for a dive EVEN TOWELS FOR EVERY TRIP!!!!!!! The dives were amazing a special thanks to a family duo of Ernie and Carsen who made this trip! Ernie laid back super knowledgeable about the reef/ wild life we would see on our dives and always made sure everyone was safe and having a good time. We also did a night dive (which if you haven’t done it’s an absolute must) with Edith another dive instructor who was Great! I also can’t say enough about the owners of the shop John and Kristie are probably the most pleasant people you can meet. They are there for anything you need even provided great recommendations on where to eat/shop. We are 100% going to be back at this dive shop for our advanced dive certification (what we heard from other divers taking the course was amazing) just wanted to thank everyone who made our dive trips in Roatan special, can’t say enough how great it was!

Kristi and John at Sandy bay divers took us in for 3 days diving over the Easter period and were the best! I was fun diving and their DMs were superb and knowledgeable, my partner was doing her open water and was given awesome instruction and attention to get comfortable in the water. Lovely couple and their instructors and DMs are all superb, professional kind and fun, would recommend wholeheartedly if you're diving in Roatan, the centre is also in an awesome location for a post dive chill 😄

Our luck in Roatan was walking through their door while we were going to the Restaurant, and meeting John! The best diving week ever!! Not only they took us to the best diving spots, but we found a great team and atmosphere there! They offered pick-up service. And we could go out all together for snorkeling and scuba diving. They speak English. The diving instructor Mikella was very well detailed organized. My son feels safe. I personally prefer a regular life vest for snorkeling since it feels more comfortable. If you are like me, bring your own life vest.
I highly recommend the restaurant (Blue Bahia Beach Grill) next to it after the boat riding.

John and Christie are the best! My wife and I could not be happier with their kindness and knowledge. They definitely helped us have some of the best experiences on our trip. John knows all the great spots and freely shares that with his guests. I would absolutely recommend Sandy Bay Divers to my family and friends.

Sandy Bay Divers was one of the best ran dive shops on the island! John was able to pick us up nearby for our dives, they have an amazing staff at the center and a cute dog. We dove with both Velvet and Ernie and both were amazing, Carson got us to the locations and the entire staff was just top notch. My husband is a more experienced diver than myself and they made the experience amazing. Definitely going back to them if I return to Roatan and will be recommending!

Unbelievably great experience here. Fantastic place to get certified, especially if you're coming in from off the island. I can't think of any way my experience here could have been better. Great experience from beginning until the end! The owners, staff and instructor were all very kind and extremely supportive. This was my first time diving so I decided to get my open water certification at Sandy Bay Divers, and I would recommend it to anyone thinking about it. A very safe, professional and fun environment to experience the underwater world. 🐠

My boyfriend and I were recently in Roatan and dove w Sandy Bay Divers. I’m a relatively new diver, only certified in the spring of this year and had 6 dives under my belt while my boyfriend has over 30 years experience. The first thing that stood out to me about Sandy Bay was how quickly they made me feel relaxed and welcome (thank you co owner John!) and the time they spent to be sure I had the support I needed to enjoy my dive was SO appreciated as it had been almost 6 months since my last time in the ocean so I was a little rusty. The commitment to small group experience, master diver expertise (Ernie and Roy rocked under water while Carson made sure transit to and from our dive sites was seamless) and overall intimate approach made me instantly feel comfortable and safe and allowed me to spread my wings and enjoy the ride as I knew they had my back (thank you Velvet, who helped me to secure my nitrox certification…you are a gifted teacher). While my experience w dive operations is limited, my boyfriend’s is not, and these guys have the right formula. Of course the diving is excellent (second biggest reef in the world?) and curated to ensure a safe and fulfilling experience its the team at Sandy Bay that was so special. We will be back to see our Sandy Bay family in short order. Highly recommend.

My wife, kids, and I all visited and did a half dozen dives with Sandy Bay Divers. The staff were excellent. Since my younger two weren't old enough to dive, the owner came along and guided them on multiple snorkel trips. During one of the dives, we went deeper than my one certified diver could go, and again the owner himself came along and buddied with her shallower while my wife and I dove deeper.

Their equipment was well maintained and relatively new. Facilities were good.

What an outstanding, full service dive shop! My wife and I were certified a year ago and my wife was unsure if she really wanted to continue diving. SBD (and the reefs of Roatan) convinced her that diving is her new sport! SBD has great equipment, great rates, and most importantly, an excellent staff.
Brad, the shop owner is very accommodating and works hard to ensure everyone is happy with their service. Josue, our dive master, was able to work my wife through her fears and refresh both of us. She finished her first dive elated and confident. Ernie, the boat Captain, was also very helpful and great to get to know. My wife and I are now home after many, many, awesome dives, and waiting anxiously until we can get back to Roatan and our new friends, the Pros at Sandy Bay Divers!

Very nice Diveshop located directly at Sandy Bay beach and close to the main restaurant in the area. Large outdoor spaces for divers to hangout while waiting for getting aboard the safe boats with a very trustfull staff that will take you to the best divesites in Roatan.

This was an awesome diving experience. The reefs and caverns were incredible and full of fish. The owners John and Kristi are amazing people and love to share I sights about the island among other things. The service was great. John came to our resort, Porta Azul and pick up a group of 4. John was on time and was very friendly. The dive instructor was also friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place to dive and will go again when we do another visit to the island. Excellent dive shop! Staff are amazing. Very attentive, accommodating, knowledgeable, and good humoured. Loved the close family atmosphere. Loved the shipwreck, (baby) eel garden and night dives especially! We saw octopus, eels, lots of turtles, a seahorse (wooooo finally!), rays, and more. Most dives are a 5 minute ride away and return to the shop in between dives so you can easily choose how many tanks you want to do. The dive shop is beside a restaurant serving a variety of delicious food. Thanks so much Jeff, Portia and Ernie for a memorable experience !! Highly recommend!!

Excellent diving service and wonderful dive masters. They took great care of us; it was the first time for our kids (17 &12) and us parents had not gone in over 10yrs. They did a wonderful job in keeping us happy and safe. They were very knowledge in the area, conditions and away from crowds. The gear was in excellent condition including boats and facilities.

The staff at Sandy Bay Divers were knowledgeable and awesome!! After not diving for over 15 years I was nervous about this trip but the staff was excellent. We spent several days diving with various dive masters and LOVED EVERY MOMENT! It has been several months since our dive experience with Sandy Bay Divers and we are currently planning our next trip with more friends in tow because I know Brad and his staff will take care or all our needs!!!

I have had the enormous pleasure and enviable ability to be diving for over 35 years in most every body of water on earth. From live aboard to land based operations, I can find at least 2 or 3 flaws in any dive operation, that is until I dove with Sandy Bay Divers. Brad and Juliet have assembled a team that delivers first rate dives at reasonable prices with smiles on their faces and a genuine love for what they do. For the past 8 years I have returned from dive trips swearing that I was going to sell my equipment because there was nothing left to see. Sandy Bay restored my love for the sport and provided easy access to underwater spectacles that I haven’t seen anywhere else in 15 years. You love diving? You will absolutely adore Sandy Bay.
