Lived on site for several years and can’t fault them. Yes, over priced when compared to Tesco, Sainsbury’s etc., but they’re a convenience store. They’re there for when you can’t be arsed to walk another 5 mins to get your basic needs. Great for morning papers, pint of milk, or last minute bottle of wine. Staff only have to serve you, don’t need to smile and make you happy. It’s a convenience store, not Harrods

I've only lived in Smugglers Way for a short time but so far I can say that the other reviews must be out of date. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. If you go at the end of the day just before closing, you might even get yourself a free croissant!

Prices are also fairly competitive which surprised me as they have a somewhat captive audience.

Keep up the good work!

Overpriced

Watch what you are being charged, the staff always try to charge a higher amount to the advertised price. They scan the item, and then manually type in the amount in the card machine and pick their own price when you pay at the till. We call them out every time, and sometimes they own up to it, other times they argue back. Not sure who pockets this money but pretty shady behaviour

No communication. She don’t know how to do her job properly. When me and my partner had an issue. She didn’t know what to do. Do not go there. Useless. The women is rude. I wasted my time to collect magic bag from the app TooGoodToGo though it said available when I went there, there was none. I wasted my time yet again and expressed that I’m a mother to young children she didn’t seem to care. Though I only live round the corner. Walked in this rain. When I have other priorities.

An absolute last resort. Well overpriced, and a very small range.

So much open space in the wine section and empty shelves by the front door, yet the fresh food range is tiny. There are lots of drinks and dry foods but almost no fresh meat or fish, and a sparse vegetable range. Could be easily improved as the far smaller Tesco has a bigger range.

Staff are inattentive and rude. They will stay on their phones or keep headphones in. They won't acknowledge your existence whilst scanning your items, and just silently hold out the card reader. This is the case for every member of staff so it isn't an isolated incident and management doesn't seem to care about it.

Do yourself a favour and walk the extra few minutes to the small Tesco

Shockingly rude staff. Clearly don’t check google reviews because I can see people have been complaining about the rudeness of staff for at least 8 years! I don’t understand why they can’t even respond to a “hello” or “thank you”. Honestly it’s not even for the sake of decent customer service, but just to be a basically nice human being!!!

M&S in the petrol station have MUCH nicer staff, would 100% recommend going there instead if you need something quickly, or if you can manage the 5 min walk, Tesco in Battersea Reach.

AVOID. The sign for fresh herbs says £1.59 but we got charged £1.95. We flagged this to the woman at the till, she was very rude and didn’t seem to care. Shocking.

Worst shop in the wolrd.
The staff are very impolite and the food was expired.
I went there the staff told me to get other pack. But all log them was expired. She refunded me with a bad tempered and didn’t take the old packs out from the shelf. The are still there. It is isn’t good for the clients and dangers because if we eat them we can be sick 🤢.

The Asian women /(who I think is the owners wife) is literally the rudest person I have met. No communication, not even a thank you or please as she scans my shopping and then proceeds turn the card machine toward me all the while being mute. The pasties on the counter look dry and look like they have been there for 100 years. Additionally, on several occasions I have been informed that my card had not worked when I had paid for my shopping and I was asked to pay again. When I asked to see the receipt from the card machine as confirmation that my transaction was declined, I was informed that this was not available. When I checked my online banking I saw that in fact money for my shopping had been taken out of my account! When I informed the shop workers, no apology was given and I was told this "this sometimes happens". Outrageous. Last point is that this place is SEVERELY overpriced. I would rather walk the extra 5 mins and go to the Tesco in Battersea Reach if I were you.

Useless staff.

Refused my UPS delivery for no reason which then got sent back to the store and I had to reorganise delivery myself.

When I went in to enquire about the order, took ages to acknowledge my presence, no other shoppers and the girl behind the counter looked genuinely put out that I had disturbed her looking at her phone.

She then proceeded to offer me someone else’s parcel, even though she had my driving licence with my name clearly on display. I wouldn’t mind, but the name on the parcel was Lucinda.

I won’t be using this dive again and the girl deserves sacking.

Rude. 6 visits and not a single word exchanged in response to “hello”, “thanks” etc. Prices inaccurate at till and don’t match shelf. Refused my UPS parcel. Just generally awkward and disappointing and won’t use again despite living upstairs.

Rude staff member, on phone the whole time. I would give no stars if I could. I had gone to collect a parcel and had intended to shop as well but changed my mind after the rude service. I won't be using this shop again.
