Greensmiths Deli & Grocery

This establishment is a real gem and certainly worth visiting. I am retired now and visit different London attractions every week with a friend. Today, whilst looking for some place to have lunch, we discovered Greensmiths and it proved to be an excellent choice.

First of all, the staff were really friendly and welcoming. We were served by a lady called Maddy, who could not have been more pleasant and helpful if she had tried. From what I could see, all members of staff seem to have the same considerate attitude towards their customers. Everyone was really lovely.

I had one of their chicken and focaccia sandwiches, wich was more than substantial. In fact, it consisted of two very large and well filled rolls. The bread was extremely fresh and the sandwich, delicious. You can see from the picture all that was left, the wrapping! The sandwich was so tasty that I had it eaten before it occurred to me to take a picture - but I did photograph the sandwiches on the way out so you can see the original product!

There is a substantial seating area upstairs where we enjoyed our lunch. They had provided bottles of water and glasses for people to help themselves.

In addition to an excellent cafe, it is a very good grocery store which butcher section etc.

It was my first visit today, but certainly will not be my last. I can recommend this venue without hesitation. Thanks Maddy and staff!!

Greensmiths is a delightful grocery store and café located in Waterloo. It's an excellent spot to enjoy some pastries and hot beverages.

During my visit, I ordered an oat milk matcha latte that was quite enjoyable. The latte had lovely umami and sweet notes, and it was reasonably priced.

Furthermore, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making my experience even more pleasant.

Great little coffee shop and grocer. I come here strictly for the coffee, banana and date flapjack and the sugar free chocolate caramel cup. All of them are great. Always friendly service and fair prices

EDIT: I’m a +1 vote to go back to the bakery that provides the sugar free slices!!

We stopped off here for a cheese and spring onion toastie and a coffee - both were excellent. They have some yummy cakes and a few other snacks. You can also buy freshly baked bread and a few other food products to take home. It's my favourite cafe on the street.

Popped in for a bottle of rose and coffee. It was lovely to sit outside in the sunshine and people watch. Great range of deli goods to enjoy. Toilets available on the lower ground floor. Great range of chilled wine and beer, will definitely return. Friendly service.

Greensmiths is a Lower Marsh institution. An incredible selection of food (fresh and other deli items), great coffee and a beautiful space to work in. Really good selection of wines - some natural and some nice. 10/10. Wish they'd open up one of these on Fleet Street.

Great staff, great bakery and matcha latte 🍵

One of my favourite places to get lunch on lower marsh! The quiches are really good, and the vegan "SOS roll" is great - it's like a vegan sausage roll, it's really big and only costs £1.80. There is a shop downstairs and a café upstairs, so definitely explore it!

Edit (Feb 2022) - the SOS roll isn't around anymore, but the quiches and focaccia sandwiches are great. The tiramisu remains beautiful.

Lovely local shop. The fresh baked goods all look lovely, and the pastel de nata are delicious! The produce also looks absolutely great.

One of my fave local coffee shops. The nicest - and best priced coffee - on Lower Marsh. I had an almond croissant which was the size of my head! The salmon and cream cheese bagel was delicious too. It's lovely to sit out and watch people wander by on Lower Marsh. The staff are lovely too. Definitely recommend.

Salt beef bagels are the best! And so is the coffee. Really snug cafe at the back if it’s wet or on a winters day for brunch or lunch and to meet for a chat. Pasties are outstanding. A generous selections of wine to choose from when you’re homeward bound. The staff are very helpful and know their onions. Literally.

Delicious focaccias and iced coffees for lunch! Always go here when in the area to get a bite or do some shopping. Super nice staff too. Favourite spot in Waterloo!

Incredible fresh sandwiches & treats and fun layout to wander around- there’s even a proper butchers downstairs. My favourite place on lower marsh, especially since its makeover outside.

Best coffee in the area, great service. Fantastic selection of very desirable food including out of this world meat selection. My go to for sourdough bread.

Amazing deli and grocery with fab wines, cheese and produce. Also the best quality meats you're likely to get anywhere in town. This is definitely the food shop to go to!

Fantastic ranges of french British cheeses, beautiful red wines and fabulous coffee would definitely recommend a visit they are a Lovely team of staff too service with a smile thank you
