Monks Yard

Had breakfast here this morning on back of other reviews. Was excellent. Really good quality food, well cooked and good service. Coffee was best I’ve had in a long time and wife had pot of tea which gave her four cups of tea. Lovely setting and really nice cafe. Would add my recommendation to others and would definitely call again if in area

Came here for a birthday lunch and we were so impressed! The paninis were absolutely delicious and the drinks were nice and hot. I think we’ve found our new favourite cafe!

Big shout out for the new autumn menu - you don't get more seasonal than Maple Roasted Pumpkin Salad with a Maple and Hazelnut Latte chaser! The super-abundant ploughman's is my preferred go-to - so much tasty salad along with the cheese and ham - and our seven-strong party were equally thrilled by the paninis (Buffalo Chicken, and Bacon-Brie-Cranberry). There was a great buzz in the cafe while we were there, and lots of energy. The staff were friendly and delightful, as always, and the food arrived quickly despite it being a busy lunchtime. Plenty of parking, and one member of our group was grateful for the copious disability parking right by the cafe.

The staff are sooo lovely here! Can’t believe how friendly everyone is. We stopped by on the way home from Cornwall and this seemed to be the only place where the kitchen didn’t close at 2pm - and good for them, because they’re getting all the business that their competitors are missing out on for closing early.

I ordered their chicken gyros and it was absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the ham and cheese panini but he said they were a bit too heavy on the mustard. Portion sizes were decent - both came with a nice serving of salad.

Would totally visit this place again if we’re in the area!

The conference facilities are good - well laid out with good acoustics and layout. The food was ok, good quality but not exciting. The location is easy to find. There is ample free car parking on site. I recommend Monks Yard as a good conference venue.

Love love love it here! The staff are so lovely and the food is always delicious, I especially love the craft fairs they always have such a lovely atmosphere 5 stars from me !

Really delicious food, with menu changes for the seasons which makes it a nice place to return to. The paninis are always a fantastic staple. Great atmosphere, staff and lovely little shop on site too. Busy at peak times!

Met my Dad here for a morning cuppa. I had probably the best cheese scone I have ever tasted. Lovely staff, very welcoming

Very busy today. Went into Monks Yard today with a friend to celebrate our Christmas outing. We both decided what we wanted and my friend placed the order. Each table is given a number and this must be given when ordering. Our order was bought to the table. I had a piece of yummy ginger cake and a white Americano coffee. My friend had a scone with butter plus a latte. Lovely atmosphere. Good place to have a snack or meal.

Second visit to Monks Yard and other will not be the last. Spent a very relaxing lunch break with my wife and one of my brothers and his wife. Excellent food and service. Give it a go you will not be disappointed.

Friends suggested lunch here today.
We didn't know what to expect.
As soon as we entered this restaurant we felt relaxed and welcome. A beautiful old building, with lovely art on the walls.
The staff were great. The menu suited every taste. Two of us had pork and apple burgers with coleslaw and fries. My husband had ham, egg and chips. My friend Paula had the tart of the day, which was mushroom and Stilton, with a salad, and extra fries.
All local produce, and home made.
I only live 15 minutes away, so feel like I have lost out on this beautiful venue for far too long.
It also has a few other companies in the Yard. A fab gift shop, with very unusual products. Also, a yarn shop. Which is beautiful. They do have some felting products, crochet, embroidery kits, Tilda fabric. Also a venue for workshops etc.
I also give them my 2022 award for the the best toilets.

Lovely convenient place to stop whilst travelling from A358 or A303.

Excellent home prepared food. It can be quite busy and a bit if a wait but we think its worth it.
Lovely old building around a courtyard, nicely modernised inside.
