A good local boozer with local beers (Gipsy Hill, Five Points), and good food. Lots of screens for sport, and a good, diverse mix of customers. I can see why it's so popular!

Exactly what I want from my local. Comfy and recently done up, the staff are friendly and welcoming. The vibe is relaxed and the food is cracking. Give the leek bhajis and chips a go. Outside space as well for the warm weather. Also a good place to bring your dog!

Tastefully refurbished Victorian corner pub taken over by Parched London in June 2023. The spacious, muted interior consists of two rooms connected by arches at each side of the bar. The front room has a semi-circular bar counter, jukebox, and a mix of high and low-level seating; the rear room has mainly standard tables and chairs. There is also a large upstairs function room and outside seating to the front under large canopies. The kitchen is run by Gengelly's with a menu focusing on pies, chargrilled meats and fish, weekly specials, and Sunday roasts using fresh & sustainable organic produce. DJ nights on Friday and Saturday.Excellent food and atmosphere.

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about what's on the menu & which beers to choose to compliment your meal.
Relaxed atmosphere & an open fireplace to keep warm in those winter months.

Definitely will return & I highly recommend a visit.

The pub seems to offer a commendable selection of vegetarian options, and the service is noteworthy.
A good selection of beers and wines.
Could pay attention to the taps in the ladies toilet as they are not working properly, also the hand dryer.
Would definitely come back here.

Lovely to see it reopen, great range of food but would definitely recommend booking, good range of drinks at average prices. Nice open fire so a lovely atmosphere.

Really enjoyed a Wednesday evening here! Don’t often eat at pubs but the food was really good - we had the vegan spaghettini putanesca, the half chicken on braised beans and the burger. The chips were excellent too. Really good choice of pints on tap including alcohol free and hepcat Gipsy Hill. Will definitely be back

Brilliant pub serving excellent beer and food far better than usual pub grub standards. Very friendly staff, and a real fire as well. I wish I had this gem on my doorstep but hope to visit often

Great food!! (Oyster and Portobello mushroom pie, burger, sharing chips) sadly no leek bhaji that we had heard so much about. Sadly not enough near staff for a night when all the tables were booked or taken. Otherwise.a great night.

Incredibly attentive staff, excellent food (particularly good Wellington) and decent Guinness. Also one of the few pubs that serves Murphys.

This Five Star Pub Should Not Be The Best Kept Secret In Lewisham!

This review sums up some visits made since 5th July 2019. It was on my first visit with a lovely friend Rima Bray that the lovely manager donated what turned out to be the best of eighty raffle prizes I collected in SE London a crowd funder for The Hill Station Community Café in nearby Kitto Rd, the prize was a meal for four, I will never forget your generosity for such an important cause.

Although the management has changed the chef has not and so far both meals, fish and chips last year followed by Sunday Roast Pork on 23rd Feb 2020 were both so delicious they should be illegal. The roast just blasted my taste buds, the roasted beetroot was a master touch and those roast tatties my all time fave in 61 years. £14 and good value considering the exceptional quality and generous helping. There is always an excellent vegan option.

This delightful pub appeals to me on so many levels, even with the fab old fashioned juke box you can actually hear yourself think and talk, this is ideal place to bring your friends for a shared meal or drinks and conversation. Perfect ambience with open fires in the winter, and a fab outdoor front garden terrace for the summer, coupled with lovely staff, customers and a great range of on tap beers at very reasonable prices, what more could you ask for?

There are also three nights of activities including Monday Pub Quiz and Thursday Open Mic which from feedback is a wonderful evening.

Most positive that there is a large noticeboard which shares events being held in the local community, and the offer of a FREE function room must surely have appeal for clubs and social groups?

If you are reading about this fab pub for the first time, do visit, The Telegraph at The Earl of Derby should not remain the best kept secret in Lewisham!

So the staff were very friendly and the food was really tasty. The burger was good, but was a little let down by the bun.

Came to listen to live music and was not disappointed. The beer and vibe was good as was the band (The Nunhead Folk Circle). Worth a visit.

Roast chicken for Sunday lunch.

Great service. Food, good quality.

On a Sunday, I would recommend to book for a specific time slot.

Enjoy. 😁

Went here for a comedy show! Had a bowl of chips whilst waiting for the show to start. I have no complaints about the food, service, or atmosphere. I will definitely visit this pub again.

Food here is ridiculous. Came for a the burger the other week which was out of this world. I used to think blacklock did london’s best burger but I now think it’s here. Went today for the Sunday roast. Huge portions & meat is phenomenal. Can’t wait to go back. Thanks.
