Luscious understated, very well maintained. Saw a deer. Plenty of rabbits. Pleasant coffee shed and plant sales. Good toilets with views to the tennis court.

We had a wonderful visit to the Monteviot Lights show which was taking place between 30th Nov and the 10th Dec 2023. We had visited the courtyard cafe a playground a few times over the years, but this was our first seeing the garden. As this was an evening visit, we didn't get to see the garden in it's natural state. It was however a magical and enchanting experience seeing it beautifully lit and with music playing as you walked around. Well worth a visit if you're visiting the Scottish Borders or looking for an evening activity in Dec 2023. There were toilets at the beginning and also half way through the walk by the food stalls. The route is pretty accessible, we have a small pram and that worked well. Free parking and easy to find just off the A68 near Jedburgh.

A fabulous garden set in beautiful grounds in the Scottish Borders. My recommendation is not to follow the signs but to let your legs do the direction choosing. Highly recommended the Winter Garden (shame we canny see it in Winter) and the Water Garden (which are beautiful). The Arboretum is also worth a wonder around. Facilities a little basic and at the time of writing, entry is £6 per person (cards only)

We visited the Monteviot Lights trail this December, which was such an imaginative experience and beautifully executed. This gorgeous light trail transforms the gardens and woodlands around Monteviot into a wonderland. Perfect as a romantic winter activity, with great hot drinks and snacks available at the start and mid-point of the trail. We were lucky enough to go on a snowy evening, and it completely exceeded all our expectations. I hope they do it every year!

A fascinating house of mixed architectural styles that offers a wealth of high quality twentieth century interior design complementing a fine collection of furniture, porcelain and paintings from much earlier times with much personal memorabilia that make clear this is still a family home. Set in a winding valley above a river, the house has beautifully maintained formal, informal, water and woodland gardens. There are limited catering facilities and adequate parking.

Beautiful location in an outstanding landscape. Very well laid out in separate, distinct themed areas. There is a circular route around which takes just over an hour.
Mature planting mixed with more modern designs.
Well littered with benches to sit and contemplate the wonderful planting.
Toilets available beside the main house.

If you get a chance to go here, go! It'll be worth your while! We came to the gardens in September and it was absolutely stunning!!! The vista is exceptional with sweeping lawns and varied and interesting landscaping. There are benches dotted around to sit and admire the view. There's something wonderful to see round each and every corner. We even had 2 deer run right past us! The gardeners were pleasant and willing to chat. Entry fee extremely reasonably priced too. Overall, a very lovely time here. 😊

Beautiful gardens. Met by Colin (who was lovely). Well maintained and cared for gardens. Great to go through all the different sections. I had the buggy there were a few short sets steps but actually was really easy to get round for us. Kids loved it! Well worth a visit it's £6/adult kids are free. Lovely views.

Beautiful gardens. Well tended and healthy array of species. Particularly liked the white birch trees, not seen these before. Lots of different gardens within the grounds and plenty of space to enjoy nature's sounds and perfumes. Current restrictions mean a one way system is in place, however, this did not impair the visit as there were less than a dozen people present. Staff helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.
