A really interesting place that shows what jails were like 200 years ago. The cells really show you how small and horrid condition were back then. It also includes the towns museum itself, which includes how the town was formed and notable people from the area etc. Plus it's free to go in!

Very interesting and informative, The grandaughters enjoyed it, so did us adults, it is free but we left a donation, definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely awesome visit to Jedburgh Castle Jail & Court. A fantastic combination of borders history going back to Roman time. The history of the castle dating back to 1100 hundreds up to the present day. It's a must visit....

Very interesting and informative. Provides a historical narrative of the times. Visit is free of charge but please support the charitable organisation so they can keep up with their great work.

We. Myself. My Good Lady and my Brother came to Jedburgh from Hamilton. We had a good day here. Weather was good too. We got in to see the Palace and got some good photos. But the Jail was closed. I seen photos about Jedburgh and it looked interesting. So we gave it a to visit. We had a good laugh with a few neighbours that stayed near by the Jail.

Lovely place freindly staff plenty of history and good display of the prison and life how it was in the day and it's free but can leave donations in lovely town with plenty to offer small shops and cafes with in walking distance free car and Mary Queen of Scots museum not far. Well worth a visit

Nice little place, especially if you want to see some of the history of Jedburgh as well as some of the people they locked up the jail.

Entry is free with an optional donation, and there's free parking, so it's worth a decent donation

This was our second visit, it's a fascinating piece of history I wanted to go back. Very informative. It's had a makeover since the last time we were there and I can't believe it's free, I was very happy to make a donation we spent a good few hours there. Absolutely brilliant and would highly recommend.

It doesn't cost anything to go into, therefore has to be high on my list! It is a well laid out building with several floors. A little bit predictable really with the displays, but a nice place to visit nonetheless.

Liked it and it's free to enter but they do ask for donations. Some stairs are a squeeze and if you are tall you will need to lower your head or have a lump or 2!!. Some of the things posted in and around the jail will make your mind go to places you don't want to go and make you thankful you weren't around in those days (even as a young child). All in all a nice place for information on how things used to b.

Bit of a undiscovered jem. Really interesting plenty to see and do. Free entry but donations suggested typically £5. Car park is to the rear of the building not the front as sat nav suggests.

Love, love, loved it. Free admission (I donated because I don't want this place to close), full of history and mystery. A somewhat grand looking castle on the outside, well maintained with a beautiful garden surrounding. Entering is a little gift shop/reception area and a wonderful man explained you simply go at your own pace and explore the cells and little museum in a loop. Original bell still intact and rings as you exit (the sound at least) to show what is sounded like when prisoners escaped. The prison itself has cell doors opened and facts about its once residents on information boards and graphics throughout. My partner loves a ghost hunt and for a small sum, you and friends can hire the place to explore at your own leisure with no other visitors for several hours on a night.

Fascinating castle. Very interesting insight of how the castle prison worked.
Free to enter as it's an independent castle which relies on voluntary donations to keep going. Please don't forget to donate on your way out so that we can all enjoy this wonderful place for years to come!!!

Stopped in Jedburgh and walked up to the Jedburgh Jail out of curiosity. The host was very friendly and professional made us feel welcome. The 1800’s jail is well preserved and the exhibits give a very realistic presentation of what life would have been in a humane facility. Exploring the individual cells was quite a moving experience and we left with a good understand of the criminal system at that time. Do recommend
