IMT Gallery

Excellent little gallery that we managed to visit for the first time. Fascinating and varied exhibition by artist Kenji Lim using a variety of materials that added to their artistic creations, as was the varied way of displaying Lim's work (excellent curating). Also the creative writing added to setting the scene......big clap to the gallery director for using a complimentary creative writer instead of the usual bland exhibition write ups. The gallery director gave us a personal insight to both the gallery history and the exhibition so thoroughly enjoyed our first visit. Recommend you see this exhibition as there are also plenty of other galleries nearby to make it a worthwhile trip to Bethnal Green. Plenty of places to eat nearby and the gallery itself is accessible. Throw in some resident Nubian cats and you have a very eclectic experience:).

I visited the gallery for the current exhibition 'Snow Crash'. The name of the show was taken from the book of the same name by Neal Stephenson,. The exhibition was curated by Dr Kirsten Cooke and deals with structures. The set up of the exhibition has you from the outset immerse in a physical structure, scaffolding, that perhaps relates to the invisible spaces that operate within the boundaries of the private and public, which act in such manner to deceive our perception of the power of single structures to influence our behaviour.

A really nice artspace with great lighting and high ceiling. Will look out for future events or even as a possible gallery spot for collaboration.
