This place is really beautiful, think they redecorated in the last year or so, brilliant in the evening when it's all candle-lit, the food is brilliant and the staff are really attentive and good fun. Also a good place to spot the odd celeb if you're interested in that kind of thing!

Gorgeous decor; lovely and incredibly friendly staff. Took Grandma for a birthday dinner, she had an amazing day and we all really enjoyed the food.
Would highly recommend.

Delicious food, great ambiance, quirky interior design and blessed to have this gem on my doorstep. Staff could be a tad friendlier.

Reasonably quiet restaurant, which is a strength in the UK, with an honest wine menu. I've recently visited there for Valentine's and tried to get a table early in the evening. I got! but later, they asked me if I had a reservation. The rest was ok. Food and service were honestly delivered!

Wide choice in the fixed price lunch menu. It was good value for money as we didn't go a la carte. Dining room was light, airy and pleasant, not too cramped. A surprising and welcome find so close in Portobello market.

the food was average, i had a much better roast the previous week in Clapham. We were here for my mothers birthday, and we were informed that they 'may not have Becks cause the night before was pretty heavy' and that they had Peroni, but once ordered they actually didnt have any. The bread and olives too a fair while to come as, according to the waitress, the bread was being baked, but when it did arrive, it was cold and hard?! The meal arrived about 4 minutes after it was ordered (5 Sunday roasts!) which was worrying. Felt very rushed as well, it wasn't even busy and they were desperate to get rid of us! all in all, a beautifully decorated restaurant with allot of character, but food and service left a lot to be desired.

Can be really quiet upstairs but the food is good and the prices are reasonable for that area of london.

24/11/2013 Went to a friends birthday dinner at this place I was a bit apprehensive about going due to the fact that we all had to pre-order are meals five day before arriving I have never in my life experienced anything like this before from a restaurant. they only had to cater for 16 people. The friend whom's birthday it was told me at the place that if anyone didn't turn up this Sunday she would be responsible foe paying their meals, father putting in there order five days prior Myself and my wife had fish dishes which were cold. A friend of mine order the Sunday roast which was absolutely awful, I was brave enough to try a bit and it was as tough as a old boots and again very cold I also noticed the staff constantly bringing out bottles of red and white wine and just leaving them open on the table which also had to be payed for by the birthday girl, I learn the next day that quite a few people had food poisoning and the birthday girl was left with a big birthday bill that was unacceptable .The managing /staff where not welcoming and tentative to her needs. A awful experience never to be repeated!!

Ground floor is decent for a drink with a nice atmosphere. However... the facilities are appalling! No toilet roll, No hand wash. Disgusting!! Even the toilet was a mess.
Totally unacceptable when you pay £4.50 for a beer that you have to use 3rd world facilities.

A couple of weeks ago, I had a very bad experience here. I ate at the restaurant with my girlfriend and two of her friends who were visiting from Argentina. Towards the end of the meal one of our friends realised that her bag, containing her passport, had been stolen. On being told this, the staff showed a bizarrely apathetic attitude to what had just happened, not even bothering to help look for the missing bag. And the maitre d' was just plain surly and unhelpful, beyond giving us directions to the nearest police station. Avoid.
