Springfield MENTAL Hospital could be a Beautiful Hospital to recover from a crisis. When you are well enough you leave and are looked after by a Mental Team in the Community. Those Top Managers of the MENTAL Hospital dont know anything. There will be no school. There will be no Flat owners.

My brother was admitted to Ellis ward recently. At first I read these reviews and just expected the worst for him, but I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. They treat family/visitors with kindness and respect on every visit, and my brother felt cared for properly as an in-patient. He had his own private room, got to take part in many different group indoor/outdoor activities, balanced meals and snacks throughout the day, and of course good clinical care. Upon discharge my brother had not one negative thing to say about his experience as an in-patient, which really speaks volumes for Springfield...Thank you to all the team on Ellis ward!

I have been involved with the hospital for 20 years. I am mentally ill. We need a hospital. The hospital's land is being sold of for private housing to make money for a new hospital. Is it going to be big enough for the community? Where do we go in the mean time to get help? It is not good enough. The hospital had been in a mess since I first went there. Many of the staff are amazing. Thank you. Some of the staff should be fired.

Don't be put off by these negative reviews. The eating disorder unit saved my daughter's life. We were always treated respectfully by all staff. One must remember that sometimes you have to be firm with patients with eating disorders. I was able to call and speak to a member of the team if I had any worries or questions. It's not a quick fix it takes time to recover .

This place is improving and getting better every day.

The staff here are exceptional.

Ward 2 has done superb things for my mental health.

A good place to contact about your worries. They are here to help.

Save the NHS, they save us.

Like us, you may have come to this site looking for information about Springfield because someone you love has been sectioned here. If so then please do not be put off by the many bad google reviews. In our experience (Dec 2018) the staff are kind, motiviated and understanding, the wards secure, clean and well managed, and the overall atmosphere positive and supportive. It's not anywhere you would choose to be, of course, but it provides a place of safety and support for people in crisis. And many of the staff - who work long and un-social hours - are genuinely lovely people.

I've had to stay here before and I think it's an institution with staff that try their best. People here are saying it's dirty and gross but the place gets cleaned every day.

I wish all the best for anyone staying there.

I was a student nurse at Springfield hospital. It was the happiest time of my life and I was so proud to be of use to the patients and the Doctors. Best life ever!

Austerity has stripped services to the bone and removal of nursing bursary has caused a national shortage of nurses (and there is only one party to blame for these policies) but even despite this, the staff I work with at this Trust always go above and beyond, we provide effective interventions and the organisation has always supported me.
