Spanish Consulate

Had a good experience getting my passport renewed. I was able to book a next day appointment using online booking.

The next day was a bit early since i had planned to have my photo taken nearby.

On the consulate the usual security check on the door was done. Afterwards I spoke to who i believe was a receptionist on the glass window and was told to choose any window to process my passport renewal.

I then spoke with a gentleman on one of the windows. He confirmed my details but had to give him my new address so it can be updated. Gave him my recent photo. Signed the form and was instructed to make the payment back on ground floor.

Made the payment and all done.

Quick and easy!

I had an excellent service experience at the Spanish Consulate for passport renewal. I arrived 5 minutes late to my appointment, almost at the closing time, and several staff members assisted me in excellent manners and with a smile.
I wanted to share this experience as I knew of the lousy service feedback shared by plenty of Spanish citizens living in London.
Hopefully, my good experience results from the service improvement based on that feedback.

Was a bit nervous for this appointment because I only know the very basic spanish and had to have my passport renewed + Reading the bad reviews only made me dread my appointment date. But surprisingly everyone was nice and helpful! My appointment was 10:45 but I arrived early at 10:30 yet they let me in right away. The gentleman on desk 2 who accommodated me was very lovely, and kind! Smiled and said “that’s okay” when I said I couldn’t speak spanish. I was done by 10:50! Service was quick and hassle free! Excellent service today with the renewal of my passport. The lady ( did not get her name) on window number 2 was very polite and extremely helpful, she was just excellent! Thank you so much! :)

Excellent! I'm still surprised at what a helpful team of people I've found.

They helped me with an urgent matter, been patient while I was waiting to receive some documentation, and while there I've managed to see how they went the extra mile to try and help everyone.

Bureocracy is always painful, especially when you are not 'home' but this team really do all they can to help.

Highly impressed with the staff at the Consulate. I made contact via the website to enquire about how my parents could acquire a replacement NIE certificate, as they are not well enough to travel to Spain, and received a prompt response with helpful advice and the offer of an appointment that same week. They sent forms across, with helpful translation notes in English to enable them to complete the necessary documents, and everything went very smoothly. On arrival at the consulate, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The certificates arrived within three days. Could not fault this service.

I went to the Spanish Consulate today to ask what paperwork I needed to apply for a Spanish D.N.I I spoke to a charming lady called Erica and she helped me fill in some forms and told me I had to wait to receive a few emails for me to print and take when I go to apply for my D.N.I
Everyone I spoke to including security personnel and spanish civil guard were all very pleasant. I think some staff members have left as the last time I came here some were quite rude. All in all my experience this time was to a very high standard and look forward to the next one.

Well... that was a huge surprise! I applied for a NIE, Spanish number required to purchase a property in Spain. The email I received to request to attend an appointment was quick and straight forward. However, I was warned about some horror stories about going to the Spanish Consulate in London before my first visit. The reviews on Google were also very worrying so I was dreading my visit. I was also very anxious as I speak and understand very little Spanish. I was told by friends who visited how rude the staff were and how disorganised it was. Initially on my arrival (I arrived 30 minutes early) I didn't know what to do as there were people queuing outside. No one knew what the queue was for when I asked. So I thought, here we go. However, after a few minutes, someone came out asking people one by one. My turn came, I was asked the reason why, I went to security and asked gently to go to window 8. I told them I was early but it didn't seem to bother them. I was called and I presented my papers. The guy behind the counter was really pleasant. Appears very kind and helpful. I went to the cashier section as instructed . There was no English translation outside the door so I tried to check the translation from my phone). (It just seems odd that they did not have an English translation when the department caters to a lot of foreigners). Before I knew it, the lady behind the door finished with one customer and called me in Spanish (I think she called me anyway), I went in, she asked me to pay £8.45 then I left. It went surprisingly smooth and easy so don't worry about the horror stories you hear. Let's hope that my pleasant experience continues as standard for everyone.

Very quick and organized service. Even if you not have an appointment, the staff at the Consulate try to help. Everyone in the Consulate was very polite and smiled.

Pleasantly surprised. My Spanish is unfortunately very basic despite my efforts to learn, certainly not able to understand or have conversations to the level I feared would be expected of me. I was anxious about going to my appointment based on last experience and shouldn’t have been. Everyone I encountered spoke to me in English when I looked confused. Everyone was so lovely, from the security guard on the door, to the guardia at security, the particularly wonderful lady at the passport counter and the cashier.

Processes involved in everything I’ve dealt with re consulate regarding prep ahead of actually attending an appointment has been lengthy and at times I thought this can’t be right, hard not to get frustrated. But it is what it is and I feel for the staff who I are on the other side of it.

Those I dealt with via email were speedy in their responses and helpful.

I wasn’t left waiting on the street, I was in, dealt with and out far quicker than I expected and it was organised.

Genuinely a pleasant experience.

They are simply the best if I can say being realistic. I have my trip planned to Spain in one months time and couldn’t get an appointment with the BLS Spain visa centre, even after 2 weeks of creating my application. I just emailed the consulate and they forwarded my request to the right department and I got my appointment booked for the next week. Can’t thank enough as all the accommodations and travel is already booked.
