You pass through the main entrance, which is the gift shop once beyond that. You now enter the house main entrance
You will be taken aback how spectacular this area of the house is it took me quite a few minutes to taking how such a beautiful hidden gem was located in London, the priced £11.00 to get in
I paid online just to make I got in as it gets quite busy it has a cafe & toilets 🚻 a lift to go downstairs to the lower basement of the house
I didn't use the lift as I was surprised their was one in the house place
Please ask staff or contact the house before exploring
Back to the house
The staff & Volunteers were happy ask questions & were friendly in taking photos if asked it took me 2 half hours due to the fact I was taking photos plus I wanted to not rush just to taking what I had seen

Leighton House is a stunning Victorian villa filled with art and beauty. It was the home of Frederic Leighton, 1st Baron Leighton, a well-known Victorian artist. Leighton is best known for his paintings of classical and allegorical subjects, but he also collected an impressive range of art, including works by Renaissance masters like Michelangelo and Raphael. Leighton died in 1896, and his house was opened to the public as a museum in 1900.

The most impressive room in Leighton House is the Arab Hall, built to house Leighton's collection of tiles collected during visits to the Middle East. The Arab Hall is a truly magical space.

The house is also home to a large collection of Leighton's paintings, sketches, and sculptures.

Leighton House is a beautiful and fascinating place to visit. It is a great place to learn about Victorian art and architecture, and it is also a peaceful and relaxing place to escape the hustle and bustle of London.

Very good museum in Holland Park. Leighton House was the former studio-home of leading Victorian artist, Frederic Leighton (1830-1896),

The exterior of the house gives little clue as to the treasures that lie within. The highlight is the extraordinary Arab Hall which reflects the artist’s fascination with the Middle East where he travelled widely. The hall, which was completed in 1881, was built to display Leighton's outstanding collection of 16th and 17th-century Islamic tiles and also contains mosaic floors, a gold mosaic frieze, set beneath a gilded dome, and a small fountain.

There is a contemporary art exhibition in a room on the ground floor.

Well worth a visit.

It is a wonderful little gem of a museum near Holland Park. Each room has explanatory files to read about the room you are in. Very well planned and organised with a lovely café. Truly beautiful, the architecture, the paintings, and the history of Leighton.

What an incredible place!! Thank you to the lovely museum host who gave me a stool to draw in the splendid hall, between the sound of a running fountain and a piano recital ♥ you are so wonderful!

Quite a spectacle and something that you must see. Even as a seasoned Londoner. Leighton gathered and created manynfine works. But the layout of this beautiful home has to be seen. My favourite parts were the Arab Hall and Studio.

Definitely worth a visit and definitely worth the money! A classic art decor kind of museum which depicts allot of history and a mixture of cultured art, small gift shop near the entrance along with the admission desk served by friendly staff. I'd recommend watching the short video before looking around the house. There is a nice cafe here to accompany the character of the building. Nice and quite with a big spacious garden, there is a choice of seating inside or out depending on weather or you can choose to sit on one of the wooden benches in the garden.

This house is definitely worth a visit, considering the great architecture and works by Leighton, as well as a small exhibition below, exhibiting more recent work by chosen artists. Tickets are at a cost, but not too bad if you check if a discount applies for you.

An exquisitely maintained residential environment of a 19th century painter with a keen appreciation of the decorative arts of his day. Rich with painted detail, tile work, color and textiles and “exotic” decorative arts. Think “peacocks” and you will have an idea of the flavor! A bonus is that it’s in Holland Park, a beautiful residential part of town, and it’s right near the design museum which is always worth a visit.

The best London sight. Surprisingly majestic home of an influential and rich Victorian artist. Build to awe his visitors. It is a calm museum with very few visitors which is a big plus in busy London.

Well worth the few minutes walk from the Design Museum. An Art Museum & Historic House including coffee shop and garden. Current exhibition: Iranian Artist Shahrzad Ghaffari: Journey to Oneness until 1 October 2023. Her beautiful mural - Oneness is here to stay on the walls of the new helical staircase. Art pass can be used here.

Leighton (artist and house) was an unknown until mentioned by folks sat opposite on the train down. I guess this might be because I grew up during a time when Victoriana was out of favour. It's a really good visit - lots of variety and lots to learn. Presented in a manner accessible to this STEM focussed engineer. The highlight room has the intended gobsmacking effect. It wasn't too crowded on a January Saturday - at other times pre-booking might be advisable.

I’ve been here twice before (once for the famous Flaming June). Photographs were never allowed. I’m soooo happy they finally allowed photographs!!! This is my favourite artist’s house. It’s breathtakingly beautiful!!!

The former London Residence of Baron Frederick Leighton a draughtsman painter and sculptor in the 19th century who was a follower of the pre-raphaelites and London asceticism movements. Sadly, in the 20th century, his works lost critical acclaim, but thanks to a multimillion restoration, his works can now be showcased properly, and his home can be admired by the public. Leighton travelled a great deal and enjoyed Turkey and Syria a great deal and purchased a number of Islamic tiles and fittings, which were constructed into a mesmerising interior design which was created as a thanks to these people on the ground floor, which also incorporates a water feature. If you are visiting London, I would recommend a visit. The house also houses collections by William and Evelyn de Morgan and Schaeffer.
