Farthings Country House Hotel and Restaurant

Myself, my husband and our 11 week old son stayed for two nights bed and breakfast in May. We were there was a larger booking of friends. We stayed in Magnolia, with plenty of room for the baby paraphernalia and nice to have our own access to the garden area and not to worry about disturbing people in the main house. The gardens were in full bloom and the bird song a delight- absolutely gorgeous and a lovely spot to breastfeed in the morning sun. We have visited before but I have to say the food this time was next level. Compliments to the chef! Particular highlights were the beef for dinner and the cooked breakfast. The staff were exceptionally helpful, positive and patient with our coming and going with the little one. Parking was ample and easy. We day tripped to Beer which was beautiful. Would highly recommend a stay and also treating yourself to dinner.

Highly recommended! We really enjoyed our stay in this peaceful countryside hotel. It was so nice to have such a spacious room with a comfortable bed and feel like 'home from home'. We enjoyed the breakfast and wished we had time to have dinner. While it wasn't warm enough to sit outside, this property also has a lovely garden. I have already recommended this hotel to friends and family and we hope to come back if we're ever in the area again.

Farthings is a quiet, relaxing hotel with lovely gardens (including peacocks!) and good food. The staff were very helpful during our weekend stay with my wife and 6-month-old baby. We visited seaside town Beer for the day, which was well worth the journey.

It was our first trip away with the baby and we left Farthings feeling refreshed. One day we’ll return!

Can't comment on the rooms as I only had breakfast. However the Breakfast was excellent and good value for money considering how lovely the venue and location! Friendly staff and a great breakfast..

A party of 4 of us had a really excellent dinner at Farthings - excellent service and very good food. Highly recommended and we will look forward to going again. Thank you to everyone involved.

Lovely weekend with the family and some friends. The food is excellent (both breakfast and dinner), and our son loved playing in the garden and seeing all the animals.

Enjoyed a relaxing stay at Farthings earlier in the month. Rooms were well appointed and the service and food were both excellent.

Second visit; this place is grand. Rustic, with vintage elegance and a quiet luxury. Lush, decorative gardens. A splendid menu of wholesome breakfasts. Fruits we saw in the burgeoning gardens outside our room heaped onto homemade pancakes-- they were so delicious! All the food is beautiful, really yummy, fresh, top quality.
Best of all, the vibe is super peaceful, you feel welcome, and - after staying - refreshed. Highly recommend.

Farthings Country House Hotel and Restaurant (Taunton) is an amazing place. I couldn't fault it. Stunning room (Beech), great food, a relaxing environment, idyllic gardens, excellent location, lovely building and, best of all, incredibly pleasant, helpful, courteous staff. I was booked in by a colleague as we were in the area for an event but I will 100% book in for some leisure time in the next month - somewhere I could truly unwind! Many thanks.

I absolutely love this place! It is warm, friendly and charming. I found the owner to be helpful and professional. They gave me a very warm welcome and carried my suitcase to my room, which was very comfortable. Breakfast was superb - great fruit, cereal and yoghurt washed down with excellent coffee.

Stunning hotel. Stayed the weekend for a family event. The team were brilliant. Couldn't have looked after us enough, great rooms, amazing food, and a beautiful location. Highly recommend. We will be back.

We adored Farthings - a really special place. Beautiful decor, lovely gardens, delicious food & well kept beer. The staff were excellent too (special mention for Stan!). 100% recommended & we hope to return later this year. Thanks to everybody.

Lovely place. Beautiful garden and in a picturesque village. Family meal for 8 at a round table in a separate area for ourselves. Good service. Loved my starter and dessert, not quite so keen on the roast beef but others had it and were happy. The two members of our family who stayed there had a lovely room.

Booked to stay as part of a work trip and ended up having to extend my stay. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating to my requests for out of hours check in and food and made me feel very welcome and looked after. Highly recommended

The staff are a happy, hard working, helpful and friendly, and nothing is too much trouble
The food is wonderful, from the fresh eggs from the hens in the garden, to the home smoked salmon, absolutely delicious and beautifully presented
Dog owners, you will be made so welcome by the team, the owners 2 dogs and the peacocks, the gardens are stunning
The carpark housed cars from Bentley to Hyundai, and many of those in-between
