We had a really lovely visit to The Moody Mare recently, the first of many I hope. Great staff and a really good selection of drinks.

The most incredible aspect of the pub is the building. The atmosphere is really special and history is truly worth hearing about. The team have managed to keep both the important historical features but add some unique features, such as the teepees at the back of the pub.

Popped in yesterday (6 of us) very welcoming, nice atmosphere, staff were good as was the food. Two juniors thoroughly enjoyed sausage & mash & burger & chips, very good size portions. Ribs, pies, scampi & adult burger with chips / mash / veg were well cooked and very tasty. Very busy but plenty of time from staff for us. Toilets were clean & tidy. Weather wasn’t great but outside looked lovely, we would go again.

Lovely place to go anytime, had lunch in this lovely country pub. I live in London and there are no country pubs like this.
Nice ambience with the fairy lights and Christmas tree.
Service was warm and friendly , we didn't have to wait long for them to take our orders and the food was nice.

The food has always been fantastic here whenever I have visited. The pub has a cosy feel, can also sit outside in wooden covered seating or they have a teepee.

I was a bit wary as I saw a few reviews about food not being great/bad service but I could not disagree more! The staff were so lovely and attentive and the atmosphere was exactly what you’d expect of a quaint country pub. It felt very cosy and tucked away. The food was traditional and delicious, especially the mushroom lasagne (vegetarian options were exciting and different!). The portions were very generous.

Went last night, very nice pub, we only had drinks so can't comment on the food but the entertainment was really good and the vibe in the place was really good and busy which is great to see.

We went into the shack that was really nice and warm the more populated area were the bar and tipi's

We booked for our work Christmas party choosing from the Christmas menu. We sat in the tipi area which was beautifully decorated, lovely and warm and the tables weren’t too close together. Food was delicious and plentiful, we even requested a small menu change for one person which was done for us. The staff were rushed off their feet but we never felt forgotten and everyone thoroughly enjoyed our evening complementing the manager and passing on our thanks to the chef for the food, in particular the amazing roast potatoes! We would definitely book here again.

I have driven past this public house on several occasions but have never specifically driven here for a visit.
So on this occasion it was planned that we would have lunch here and sample some of its ales.
From the very moment we entered the premises, we were warmly greeted by Jennifer and allocated a table, as we intended to have something to eat.
They have a wide menu selection and I chose the mussels as a main course. The meals were served up in a timely fashion and I have to say they are probably the tastiest mussels that I have ever eaten.
We were waited on in a very professional and pleasant manner by Jennifer, Angela and Paul, and they all made us very welcome and comfortable , checking on us now and then to see if we wanted any more drinks and of course, pudding!
Our visit was most enjoyable and pleasant and we will definitely be coming back again and I will have no hesitation in recommending this pub/restaurant to my family and friends.
What a hidden jewel! You must pop in if ever you’re passing. You won’t be disappointed!!!

I was a bit wary as I had read very mixed reviews, but four of us went to the Moody Mare yesterday, and I have to say that I could not fault it. The staff, lovely, the service very good, and the food was very, very good. Pleasantly surprised and will be back.

Had the pleasure of dining at the Moody Mare on one of their music nights. The live act was brilliant, she had an amazing voice and people warmed to her, raising an already brilliant atmosphere to an amazing one.

The food was fab too, couldn’t fault it .. The Moody Mare has a great selection of menu choices and a great team in the kitchen, as well as front of house. All this combining to give you a fantastic dining experience and wonderful evening.

Go for a drink, a drink and food or music, you are guaranteed a great visit.

Popped in for Saturday lunch and the food was great. We ordered the duck and pheasant pie, pork belly and chicken ballotine, extremely tasty. Washed down with red wine and cider. Very nice desserts too. Peaceful atmosphere and cosy surroundings. Thanks 👍

A table in the huge and atmospheric tent which was setup originally for Covid - plenty of heaters to keep it toasty and nice decor. Food arrived amazingly quickly and was very good. Service was sharp. Main part of pub was also popular. Would go again without hesitation.

We booked a table for 6 and got the added bonus of live music from Ebonie G! The sharing charcuteries platters were amazing, following by very generous mains. We danced the night away and vowed to return. Great atmosphere and fab value for money.

We went here for mothers day. Were very impressed. The staff were very friendly and made sure we were looked after. No waiting at all, drinks arrived within 5 minutes of ordering them. When the food arrived it was piping hot and on time. Considering it was from the set menu extremely tasty too. Would definately recommend a visit. We will be going back very soon to try out an evening meal. My mum had a great day.

Had a meal on Sunday 11th February with family, the meal was absolutely delicious we had a mixture of meals and everyone enjoyed it. The young staff serving us were so attentive and nothing was to much trouble.
Highly recommend.

Only popped in for a quick drink, but what a lovely pub! And the tipi tent out the back is amazing! Will return when the sun eventually comes out!

Moody Mare made our Valentine's evening worth it.
It was our first time there, and my husband booked it. All dinner guests were hosted in the tent, and it had a romantic Morrocan vibe.

There was a special valentines 4-course menu which was reasonably priced.
The venue was fully booked, and service could have been slightly better as there was a minor mix-up with our order which was quickly rectified.

We didn't have to wait too long in-between courses and the meals were delicious.
Overall, we were very impressed and would be visiting again.

Great little pub serving excellent food. Small, but good choice of ales. Situated by a main road, but we did not hear any traffic noise inside.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Large car park, which is always a bonus. Toilets rather small but well maintained.and you dry yours hands on small towels/flannels which is a very nice touch.

Excellent service and food with some very generous servings. The sharing board in particular for 4 people went down an absolute treat (no pictures as it disappeared quickly!) highly recommended. Felt very safe with the social distancing between tables. Nice added bonus that the pub was dog friendly as well. Will be return after lockdown part 2 for sure!
