Beautiful church with a mixture of baroque and Gothic architecture. If you have a chance to visit the Golden chamber it is not to be missed. Very friendly parishioner took my €2 and very amiably showed me the chamber and pointed out highlights of the restoration. Not to be missed! Also aside from a beautiful church I found it a very sacred place to pray.

A five-minute walk from Cologne Cathedral, the Church of St. Ursula is definitely worth a visit, particularly the Golden Chamber (Goldener Kammer), which is decorated with skeletal remains that were found on the building site and, according to legend, belonged to St. Ursula and 11,000 virgins who were martyred there, two statements that don't stand up to scrutiny particularly well. (For one , when you build a church on the site of a Roman cemetery, you might consider the possibility that the bones were of Romans who had lived in Colognia. And for that matter, even the number of martyred virgins in the legend of St. Ursula was likely inflated by a factor of 1000 due to a misreading of some Latin. Not to mention that there aren't even close to enough bones to make up 11,000 human bodies.) Nevertheless, the church is worth a visit to see the elaborate arrangement of bones and the decorated skulls. (Note: when I visited in March of 2024, it cost €2 per person to enter the Golden Chamber.)

Definitely recommend going into the gold room and getting one of their little map guides. The ladies running the place were very sweet! We didn’t buy tickets in advance, we just showed up when they opened at 3.

To be fair, I only visited the church to see the Golden Chamber, a lady unlocked the door, and took some time to explain about St Ursula, and her demise, together with 11,000 virgins, whose bones are on display.
There are containers with skulls, and that of St Ursula is marked with red material.
An interesting sight to see and wonder about.
Cost 2 euros.

Beautiful church which is known for the bone room. I got in on a Friday at 3:30 p.m. I tried the previous Monday at 10:30-11:30 and could not get in. The lady there would not speak English to me but after my many questions she gave me a book in English of which I photographed the pages to help future English speaking visitors enjoy this strange but unique place.

Amazing place!!! Really worthpassing by and support their cause. An internal staff member gave us a beautiful touraround the golden chamber and gave me a lot of presents as St. Ursula is known by being a powerful symbol for the feminist cause.

It took 3 visits to get in as the church was closed. The golden chamber was opened not long after we arrived, the lady who volunteers there will gladly talk about the place as best as she can in English. If it is closed when you visit, please try to go back another day. The chamber is located through a door to the right of the main church entrance.
I have visited several ossuaries and this one is unique as many of tge skulls are delicately wrapped in material and placed in pretty glass containers. There are also busts of some of the people whose bones are held in there, and there bones are placed inside these busts. There is also a table with items you can buy, a lot cheaper than some ossuary gift shops too! We went to Cologne purely to see this place, we were not disappointed.

Such a nice atmosphere in this church. The most Important in historical way is the gold kammer or golden room where the church hide her old reliques. The last several years they are cleaning and restoring the old gold kammer and giving her back its authentic colors and cleaning all the reliques bustes. When you enter the room you are amazed by the Wow-factor. It's absolutely unique above the Alps. There is no reliques room like this. It simply does not exist.

A really interesting church to visit. Nowhere near as busy as the main cathedral, but definitely a place to check out. If you want to see the bone room reliquaries be sure to go at a time when someone will be there to let you in.

What a boney business! Really interesting, a bit chilling, but an altogether quite enjoyable experience! (Admission cost: 2€; the actual "boney stuff" is on the right hand side after you enter the church)

Beautiful Church with a great background, lovely stations of the cross paintings and very impressively creepy chapel (bones x million). The Church's guardians are lovely and eager to tell of the Ursula legend.
The Google times are wrong though. The metal rood screen is closed at 4 not 5, so you can't look all around if you're a little late.

Nice church but beautiful and haunting side chapel with reliquaries, relics and bones. Extra charge of 2 euros admission. Though you probably won't stay more than 20 minutes, it's definitely worth a visit for the artistic or spiritually inclined.

The history in Köln amazes me and St Ursula is one of the most unique places we went to while living in Köln. I wish they had more visiting hours for the bone room as we returned 5 times and only saw the room opened to guests once. It is for sure, worth going to. Sad history of the room, but amazing to see. Go here, you won’t regret it.

It's nothing special from the outside, but it's the inside it's all about! Look for the hidden room, pay 2 bucks to get in there and admire something unusual 😀.
