Hotel Laguna Arenal

Although the views here are beautiful, the real thing that makes this place is the food/service. Anna & Sebastien were amazing hosts. We really enjoyed the delicious and fresh breakfast - we loved it so much we almost came back from an hour away to try and eat dinner with them! Absolutely stunning views of the lake and sunset. These bungalows allow you to wake up with the sounds of nature and the sunrise. The European style of the rooms are simple, elegant and clean. We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly book here again. DO NOT miss breakfast!

We absolutely loved our 4 night stay here. We stayed at the room closest to the parking lot which had the most privacy as well as most exposure to the wildlife in the area. We saw a ton of birds from the comfort of our window including aracara toucans.

Views of the lake are gorgeous, particularly during a clear day for sunset.

Because of the design of each room, you can hear all the wind, rain, and insects throughout the night. It could be difficult to sleep if you’re a light sleeper.

The owner: totally charming and a complete delight. (Even with my elementary school level Spanish, I really enjoyed chatting with her)

One note:
- There's no A/C in the rooms, but the breeze kept the room a really nice temp (Mid Dec)

Man, this place is beautiful!! We got the opportunity to sit down and chat with Ana in the morning, and she's a wonderful human. The room was so nice and we sat on the patio and talked all night. I compare it to glamping. No pool or hot tub, but serene beauty. It was perfect for us. And breakfast was so simple, fresh, and absolutely delicious. My other half is still talking about the empanada!

Our stay at Hotel Laguna Arenal was effortless and relaxing. Listening to the birds and enjoying the great food with a stunning view of the lake that pictures do not do justice too was an amazing way to begin our Costa Rica vacation.
The host was friendly and helpful and a pleasure to meet. We were interested in the process of building and real estate and we were able to have several conversations about his project and his  experiences that we enjoyed.
The individual units were intentionally designed to be open and airy and all have a stunning view of the lake. The furniture was comfortable and the finishes were high end.
We would highly recommend visiting Hotel Laguna Arenal and we will be returning the next time we visit the area.

The hotel is in an amazing location in the middle of the forest. The service above and beyond, a family atmosphere and the food is simply delicious! It is highly recommended

Our one night at Laguna Arenal was our best night of our 10 days in Costa Rica! The view was unbelievable and the food was outstanding. Anna was an amazing host and cook. The fish at dinner was very good and the breakfast was fantastic. The coffee was also the best we had our entire trip. Highly recommend Laguna Arenal Hotel!

Okay, I'm late in writing this review as I stayed here in April.
All I can say is this hotel was SPECTACULAR! Senora Anna was absolutely beautiful, as was her service and staff. She made me feel like family during my stay and I couldn't have found a better place during my vacation to Costa Rica.
My room was beautiful. I can't say enough positive things about it other than it was just PEACEFUL! The view of Arenal Lago was unmatched.
Senora Anna's breakfast each morning was so amazing. Everything was made fresh and to order. They really catered to their guests. Dinner was amazing, if you reserved it. I only ate dinner a few nights but each meal was an adventure because I'm very picky but tried most of the things she offered.
Now, getting here was challenging for me as my phone didn't work in the country unless I was on wifi. I just prayed that I'd find it and the Lord guided me here. Lol!
Anna assisted me in my whole SIM card issue and I was able to use my phone a few times with a local SIM inserted. She was awesome!
I will definitely be back and will stay here again.
My room was sooooo beautiful! My view of the lake was amazing. The sounds of nature lulled me to sleep and I woke up refreshed and not tired, as I normally would. There's no TV in the rooms, which is a good thing. Not there to watch TV; there to be at peace and rejuvenate.
It was different having to throw the toilet paper in the trash vice flush it, but you'll get used to it.
The water wasn't hot but it was warm enough for me. The rooms reminded me of Japanese rooms.
The only annoying thing was the birds tapping on my window EVERY MORNING between 0500-0600. Grrrrr! Other than that, my room was great.

We spent 5 wonderful days at the beautiful Hotel Laguna.

I have to say this is one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed at. The location is stunning and very peaceful. From the moment we arrived to the time we left we felt welcomed and part of a really great place. Anna the owner provides outstanding customer service, she is so very kind and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. She even took us unto town and came back to get us. We arranged transport and Jose picked us up and was very friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and we had dinner there most nights. Breakfast is very good and always presented well and tasty. A very BIG thanks to Anna, Bastian, Jose and the team for making our stay so very memorable. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Honestly, this place is amazing. The owners are lovely and the breakfasts each morning are absolutely delicious. We had freshly made juice, tea or coffee, fantastic porridge with fruits, and then a cooked breakfast. The bungalows were very clean, comfortable, and with stunning views. There are several restaurants down the road which is about a 5 min walk. Try the toucan restaurant the food is good and the people running it are great! All in all we would opt for this place over anything in la Fortuna.

This place is really magical! The service is excellent and it’s super clear! Great location with the overview of the Lake Arenal and rainforest. Anna is very caring and treat her guests like her own family! Don’t miss out Anna’s breakfast! Everything is delicious especially her oatmeals! Ava and Robby

This hotel is simply amazing! Don 't look at 3 stars , this is a top hotel. The hotel is on a hill, there is silence and solitude around, a lot of birds. The rooms are modern and clean. Sunsets 😍. Food cooked with love and care. Be sure to try salmon and couscous, apple pie is.... It is impossible to convey this taste, although all the dishes were very tasty. Don 't miss this wonderful place .

This hotel is absolutely amazing. Owners are amazing, welcoming, and so kind. Also, the food is so fresh and delicious! It was my fiancé and I first time visiting Costa Rica and La Fortuna area. We stayed at a resort before our stay at Laguna and we wish we had only stayed/booked with Laguna for our entire stay in Costa Rica. We stayed at Laguna Arenal for our last 2 nights. The views are breathtaking. The architecture and details are breathtaking. The owners also have refugee dogs and cats that are so sweet and add the charm to the property.

My fiancé and I plan to be back and we have already recommended this getaway spot to so many friends and relatives.

Also we loved the couscous, tenderloin, lamb, macadamia nut pie, tiramisu, and the wine selection Laguna Arenal had to offer! We met with other guests at the hotel and they loved the fish!

For breakfast, it was so delicious. Eggs were fresh, yogurt was so tasteful, and coffee was freshly roasted.

I’m so excited to come back!

We loved our stay at Laguna Arenal and highly recommend it to others. The views of the lake are stunning and unbeatable. The owners and staff are very friendly and attentive. The breakfast is extensive and delicious (we had a good selection of tea, coffee, made-to-order eggs, French toast, pancakes, bacon, yogurt, toast, local cheese, and fresh juice). The chef is excellent and you can also get dinner there. The design of the apartments are unlike I’ve ever seen; very modern and all glass so you get lots of light throughout. The place was very clean and had an intimate vibe, with only six apartments and therefore limited guests at a time.

I will remember this place forever, the perfect place. I left this place in near tears because I'd found peace, tranquility, inexplicably beautiful views, and a family that made you feel at home in this hotel.

Those sunsets and sunrises will stay with me forever. Julio & his mother have created a small, gorgeous paradise on earth. That combined with Julio's incredible chef skills made this my favorite part of an incredible trip to this beautiful country. Enjoy Julio's dinners every night and the hospitality of his mother.

You will talk about this place forever -- just like me :)

My husband and I travel a lot and this place is on the top of our list. The hotel is run by the family which makes it so special. When you come here you feel completely recharged. The views and sunsets is something we miss everyday. The food was super delicious and fresh , made with love. We can’t wait to be back one day soon!!

Amazing views and food at this hotel. I stayed 2 nights in February with my girlfriend.

At first we were simply looking for a quiet place with great views of the lake, which this place definitely has.

What we didn't expect was amazing food. The breakfast had a great buffet at 8 each morning. Top notch coffee along with bacon, pancakes, fruit (papaya, pineapple, tomatoes, grapes and cantaloupe), cheese, toast and cereal. Finally, you could order eggs to your taste, three couples had eggs probably 7 different ways between them. Which is awesome for a small kitchen. Oh wait, there was also freshly squeezed orange juice.

The dinner was the most amazing part, great three course meals, chicken soup and beef tenderloin the first night and tuna tartare with beef tenderloin the next night.

The rooms have a balcony and extremely comfortable beds. Windows on three sides let you bring the breeze in at night and in the morning. You get an amazing view of the sun setting and the moon setting early in the morning.

My only issue was not staying a third night.
