Izumiya is a gem. A fantastic spot for all things Japanese – from fresh produce to unique snacks. They have very good bentos and takeout sushi and udon. Good selection of frozen goods. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic Japanese market

If you have ever stayed a lengthy amount of time in Japan you'll quickly learn their convenient stores have great food (hot or cold) at favorable prices. Well Izumiya has all that and more. Usually a quick snack pickup when on the road for me. Fun fact: The sushi boxes are cheaper closer to closing time.

I would say it's a good place to go and shopping. There are lots of original Japanese brand products here. Many different kind of Japanese food, deserts, daily necesseries, etc.
Especially the Japanese bento/sushi. Those are fresh made everyday. 🍱
Honestly, I love this place, cuz I love Japanese culture.
I will also buy food here once I've finished my shift. Sometimes I will buy food which made by myself as well.
And finally, I got the photo of my 藤原とうふ店GT86 with Izumiya together.

Great place def worth the visit. This place only has sushi, traditional bento boxes but also has stuff like books, stationary, baby items and etc in a small little corner close to the exit. It also has a small baked goods area as well as a few special fresh and frozen grocery items. You get the feeling that it wants to try to include as many Japanese style items as possible, and I think it does it fairly well. It doesn't feel like those asian stores that are really cramped with just stuff, and that's usually dirty. The place is quite clean and well organized. You can clearly tell what aisle is dedicated to what, and what part of the store is dedicated to what. It even has some japanese novels and speciality Japanese cookware like takoyaki pans! In the summer time, they sell beautiful Shiso plants for you to take home and grow! I buy it every year, cause I kill it every year trying to grow it... But im not giving up! Any ways, its a good place to check out if your in the area and want some sushi fast and on the go.

Great place to find your fave Japanese ingredients and snacks. And I love their teriyaki chicken bowl. ❤

One of our family traditions is having Osechi (Japanese New Year food) in the morning. Over the past few years we’ve ordered from Izumiya in Richmond. The quality is always good and it looks impressive 😊 This is the 3-tray set that came out this year, filled with a variety of traditional Japanese dishes. We ordered ours at the beginning of December to make sure we could get one because they are limited.

For grocery store (yes I know it’s a Japanese specialty store) the sushi and sashimi bowls are incredible. Crazy fresh fish for a really cheap price. If I lived close by I’d be going here every week!

Izumiya is one of a few Japanese grocery/goods stores in Richmond. Upon entering and going clockwise, they have sections with: rice and mochi cakes; fruits and vegetables like kabocha squash, sweet potatoes, shishito peppers, gobo root, naganegi, daikon, enoki/white and brown shimeji/shiitake mushrooms (FYI they are all from countries other than Japan); a cosmetics area; some freezers with various meats/fish/veggies; kitchen/bathroom items; then aisles with candy (popping candy, jellies), different KitKats (found Cafe Latte and Ume Plum today!), and local brand Coconama chocolate bars (the Matcha Black Sesame is amazing), cookies (Country Ma'am, Koala's March), Choco Pies, Pocky/Peejoy/Picola, teas/coffees, sauces/vinegars/oils,
noodles (soba/somen), canned/bottled/packaged sweets (like for Fruits Mitsumame), spices and dry packaged seasonings, dried beans (adzuki beans from Alberta!); fridges with canned/bottled drinks, jelly desserts and protein jelly drinks, Coconama truffles, savoury toppings/pickles; a meat/fish/fish cake section; more aisles with instant ramen, curries, pancake mix, furikake, potato chips, more candies and snacks, savoury and sweet rice crackers; and back to the front of the store skin/hair care products; some baked and seasonal goods; and cooking gadgets. No sushi/bento boxes but I think that is re Covid. Then there is candy/gum at the checkouts.
So a good size store. Not too big/crowded and not too small with little selection. Just right!

If you can make your own rice, then getting the sashimi from here gives you the most bang for your buck to make sushi and salmon/tune dons.

You can’t find what you’re looking for at Fujiya, you can probably find it here. Easy to park, lots of housewares, sometimes has local artisan Japanese style pottery for matcha ceremonies.

There are lots of Japanese snacks and food, stationary, and ready to eat food. The quality of the food matches up with the price. The staff are nice and I would come back if I wanted to eat cheap bentos or sushi!

The store manager - Rick is really really responsible and helpful worker who I never met in these days! I thumbs up for this guy and I highly recommend all consumers out there to visit this Japanese supermarket, you will not be disappointed what you get and how nice workers are serving customers there at all times! Thank you again Rick, you are the best!

One of my favourite place to grab Japanese takeout. The bento boxes are phenomenal. Just don't go too late, they're usually sold out by 2-3pm. Love walking around the store because they bring in rather unique products from Japan like instant Ramen, and other types of snacks. Yes some things are more expensive than regular your regular Superstore.

Nice Japanese grocery store to buy Japanese goods. Their deli and hot food counters have a a huge selection of Japanese food during the first half of the day, and are reasonably priced.
