Not those huge record stores but definitely worth checking out when in Guelph.
Very good selections and even has other merchandise to purchase aside from the records itself. Even the pre-loved section has gems in it.
Wish I had time to check out their 45s though.
The staff/owner is friendly and I had a good time.
Cool window display and exterior design is eye-catching.

I have shopped at Royal Cat Records for the last couple of years, and I can tell you that this is my favourite record store. It has always been a fixture of my visits downtown Guelph. The staff always have lots of new stuff hitting the shelves, and great recommendations. Sarah is awesome. She cares deeply about the local music scene and beyond. If you love music, and enjoy finding unique records (new or used) or tapes, or cds// just awesome stuff. It is always worth the trip.

Absolutely love this record store and they are easily the best in town. The store is small but has an amazing vibe. They’re always playing the best of the best. Staff are super friendly and helpful.

They always have an incredible assortment of vinyl. They have lots of old and lots of new, a great spread of most genres, and an amazing selection of artists both mainstream and upcoming.

They also have a good selection of hardware for anyone who’s just getting into records. They post new arrivals on social media regularly, which is extremely helpful.

There’s really nothing bad to point out about this lovely shop. But if they’re open for suggestion 1) it would be cool to see them highlight their local artists section a bit more, and 2) the metal section predominately focuses on the classic heavy/prog/alt metals, but could use some more metalcore/(post)hardcore/swancore and death/thrash metal.

Loved the small and cozy atmosphere of this store. They had an amazing selection considering the store's size. They had most of the vinyls I have on my Discogs wantlist. Definitely will go back to again.

*Note*
May not be a super accessible location for folks that use wheelchairs due to the stores small size.

Took my son here for his 14th birthday to pick out records. He found records he has wanted for a long time at the best price we’ve seen anywhere else!
Lovely little gem

I've purchased at this stores several times last 2023, I've found very good records and the average of the media to my opinion From VG to VG+, (used records)
when I have the chance I'll spend more time searching for more records....

One of the few places left that gives music the respect it deserves, and you feel it right away. This is the spirit that made this city. I'm glad it's still alive.

Another 5* record store in Guelph. We live in special times. Royal Cat is exclusively dedicated to Vinyl, both new and used, and while the store has an intimacy given it's size, you bask in being surrounded by records on all sides---up the walls, in bins, filed along the floor. It is a real treat popping in here as you'll get lost for an hour easily if you're actually motivated to poke through the collection. The owner is a real pleasure to chat with and I've found her and any other staff I've encountered to be warm, welcoming and knowledgeable.

Modern vinyl has trended to a very expensive place; however, I think it worth mentioning that I find Royal Cat to have some of the best prices on both new and used LPs so it's an easy stop to make anytime I'm near downtown Guelph.

It's at the level of local, independent retailers where the magic has always happened and I dearly love community retailers who clearly have a passion for the business and make what is otherwise just the act of shopping into something genuinely enjoyable. Royal Cat is one of those stores and deserves your attention if you're into vinyl.

Amazing experience at RCR. I was blown away by, not only the incredible selection, and great pricing but also the amazing service I received from the new owner. It's very clear she has a deep knowledge and passion for music, specifically vinyl. She was also very welcoming and super friendly. I will be back. Highly recommend this local gem!

Good selection of new records and super helpful staff make it a treat to go and browse. Check the Instagram page for new arrivals over the website, it's a bit more up to date. Good used selection as well!

We stopped in for a few minutes to check out to the record shop. Good selection. The women working (assuming the owner) was really cool and had some great tunes on. Very approachable and nice. Its great when the local records store is welcoming vs. too hip. We'll be back!.

Picked up some albums today and was seriously impressed with the both the new & used offerings. The previously owned selections I purchased were in immaculate condition.
Worth the drive from Waterloo!

I love my little local record store. It may be small but it's jam packed full of the goods. Whether you're looking for great punk, metal, psych, used, new, and everything in between...Royal Cat has got it! Staff rules too! I would much rather buy records than pay rent and eat food. Well, I kind of like to eat, I guess.

Discovered this record store on my way thru Guelph. It is so cute, clean, and well organized. New and used product. Picked up something I'd forgotten i was looking for. An exciting and unexpected find. The owner is friendly and helpful.
Thank you Royal Cat ;)
