Best Fish & Chips of my whole trip, where I ate at least one each day of the week. The batter is super crunchy and the fish tastes great. The homemade fries are perfect and the sea salt gives it a great accent.

A bit on the pricy side, but it's his speciality and worth every penny. The captain is super friendly, overheard him trying to prepare a gluten-free item for a customer even though it's not on the menu.

If you want clams just check with him before though, as he doesn't have em everyday.

Outdoor seatings only and small parking lot, but you can park along the boardwalk not far away and enjoy a nice walk along the water.

Best fish and chips I have ever had! During my whole tour of Nova Scotia this was hands down the best. Get it with sea salt and the tartar sauce. Highly recommend stopping for lunch or an early dinner

Thanks Captain! These are the best fish and chips in the area. Always happy to make a stop. Definitely worth it! Fast service and excellent quality fish as well as scallops. The place has been open every time we have visited however exact hours seem tentative.

Yup. The Captain lived up to the billing. The fish was perfectly battered and fried. The tartar sauce contained some curry and it works well. I would try the scallops next time. It's a great spot to check out before or after the ferry across the bay.
The atmosphere is part of the experience, too. There are all kinds colourful set pieces (umbrellas, lobster traps, decorated rocks) but none are more colourful than the fish-fryer himself, Moe. He's a character and will most certainly flirt with any ladies in your party.
And, if you ask nicely, he may let you throw axes into a wooden target board behind his fish stand. Just be aware that you will be eating either outside or in your car.

Absolutely incredible fish and chips - the best I've ever had! Captain Caper was made the whole thing an amazing experience, so friendly, lively, and funny. We had a wonderful time chatting with him, our lunch here was truly a highlight of our week long trip to Nova Scotia. Regardless of where you are staying you should make the trip up to Captain Capers for the delicious food, lovely atmosphere and beautiful location!

The fish and chips were some of the best we have had on our travels in Nova Scotia. The homemade tartar sauce was unique and very tasty as well. The owner is a hoot, lots of fun energy. Captain Capers was located in Englishtown, Cape Breton but moved to its current location in Baddeck when the local ferry was closed for the summer. The owner likes his new location and plans to stay.

Moved to Baddeck!! Totally worth a stop here! Amazing fish and chips - delicious fish, perfectly battered. Chips are fresh cut and extremely tasty. No indoor eating but picnic tables with a lovely view of the harbour.

We ate here in early July, '18, and the fish & chips were superb! Checking in a few days later, Google says he's closed, but that doesn't square with our experience. I certainly hope not, because this food was out of this world, and the captain himself, a delightful host!

We've been coming to Captain Capers since he was over by the Englishtown ferry. I've had plenty of fish and chips living on New England and have even had them in seaside towns in the UK and Ireland. These are the best fish and chips you will ever eat, period.

FYI the Captain has moved to next to the Baddeck Marine in Baddeck. Drive down Water Street, you won't miss him! Best fish and chips on the planet.

THE BEST! You must take the very slight detour from hwy 105 to stop at Captain Capers. Freshest haddock and scallops. Don’t miss this place!

Outdoor seating only which is lovely if the weather is good, otherwise be prepared to huddle around the umbrellas.

Great food.

One of the best fish and chips and seafood and everything I've ever had. If you stop by Englishtown, be sure to go here.
