Great deli with food made from scratch. Can be a bit of a wait when busy, but creating perfection takes time. You can also call ahead. Highly recommend this local iconic cafe.

Cute little deli on the Cabot trail! The food is excellent! We shared a lobster sandwich and it was delicious! They also have syrup and jams to buy too. The seating area is larger and clean. This is well worth the stop.

My husband and I ordered the lobster sandwich, lemon turnip soup, & carrot and ginger soup. All of the soups change daily but were super fresh and well seasoned. Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic. An absolute gem on the Cabot Trail.

It's a must visit spot for some quick grabs if you're doing the Cabot trail. There are only limited food options on this route and this place definitely stands out. Hygienic and prompt service. Give the Herring Choker Club and Lobster sandwich a try. Try placing an order upfront as this place sometimes gets crazy busy.

The quality of the sandwiches are great. The atmosphere is cozy. The staff are friendly and some are super cheery and friendly. The price jump from just a sandwich to soup and sandwich is a little high. Very high actually. It's a $6.50-$7.00 jump. Which is saying a small sized single portion soup is almost $7.00. Therefore, a sandwich and soup is about $17.00. That does NOT include drinks or dessert. Aside from the high pricing, it's an adorable set up with great water views of the Bras d'or. Again, the ingredients are very fresh, making the quality great. As you'll see in all my attached photos, the portions of the sandwich meats are fairly nice.

The BEST lobster sandwich I’ve ever had. Had it on the oatmeal bread and I was incredible. So fresh. Got the half because it was huge with potato leek soup. Comfort food to the max. Staff very friendly. Cozy atmosphere. Sad I couldn’t stop here again on the way home because I will be dreaming of this sandwich for a long long time

Excellent lobster sandwich - fresh, packed with lobster meet, and served on homemade bread. IMO the half lobster sandwich is more than sufficient for a meal.

Found this place accidentally while we were on our way to the Cabot Trail. I am so glad Herring Choker Deli’s and our path crossed each other! First of all, the staff is super friendly here; we had the pleasure of being served by Cheryl. Their sandwiches (including the locally made bread!), various coffees are delicious. The portions (they offer kid menus as well) are great, and I remember we couldn’t even eat everything on the spot. Next day we ate the leftover which was still very good – this tells you a lot that they use quality ingredients. Are they pricey? For sandwiches I don’t think so, and frankly, the place and atmosphere you are going to experience is totally worth a visit! I can only recommend Herring Deli Choker – go and check them out!

Great place for a quick bite! Unfortunately the indoor dining space is currently closed due to Covid-19. luckly it was a nice sunny day, we enjoyed our lunch in the patio. My 1/2 lobster sandwich was super delicious!

We split a lobster sandwich on the oatmeal bread. It was scrumptious even though the server suggested white bread to really taste the lobster. The oatmeal bread was super fresh and just slightly sweet which worked well with the lobster. Bean and spinach soup to round out my meal and my husband had a Caesar salad. Both were tasty. Waiting to enjoy our chocolate cheesecake later.

Best sandwiches I've ever had! Yum! And the service is top notch. Not too many places have such sweet staff who write special notes on your sandwich bag to brighten your day! 😍

We stopped at this cafe on our way out of Cape Breton and it was the best find! If I could give them 10 stars, I would! The breakfast sandwiches, lattes and the baked goods were all incredible. The cafe is very quaint and the service was great. Awesome place.

Amazing lobster sandwich! 😋 Had it on the oatmeal bread, half sandwich is perfect lunch size with a side soup. Really well kept and lots of tasty baked stuff too. Picked up cheddar biscuits for tomorrows breakfast.

Absolute gem of a place. Had the lobster sandwich and it was the hands down best meal we had on our Nova Scotia road trip (including all sorts of “fine dining restaurants”) Big chunks of fresh juicy lobster, fresh bread etc. perfection. Got a carrot cake for the road (why not), also exceptional quality.

My first time in this fantastic Deli but definitely not my last. The staff is amazing. The menu has something for everyone and the coffee is heavenly. Be aware that some things are pricey but are definitely worth it. I recommend the Turkey club, I'm not one of those people who take pictures of their food but I was definitely tempted. It was a work of art.
