What a great atmosphere! It reminded me of some bistros in Europe. It was fantastic food that was cooked with skill and quality ingredients (they even have a sourdough bread option!). The photos don't even do it full justice. There was excellent service as well! I know some people mentioned the price, but being from Halifax, I thought the prices were what I would expect for a decent breakfast, and actually for the quality of food, it was excellent value!

This place was our favourite meal throughout a week long trip of the easy coast. My partner and I couldn't stop saying how delicious it was while we were eating. I had the gourmet grilled cheese and salad and he had the black bean burger. Both were amazing, maple salad dressing was delicious. We split a flight of local beers and ciders which were also all delicious. Our server was very kind and helpful, service was timely. We were there in October, so not peak season where I'm sure it would get very busy. Overall would highly recommend stopping here while in Baddeck!

The coconut blueberry pancake is really a must-try! It is one of my favourite pancakes so far in my life 😋. Definitely a “won’t-be-beat” breakfast! It is crispy but soft at the same time, the chef put a lot of blueberries in it as well as dried coconut.

Other food such as French Toast, Classic breakfast is above average too. Highly recommend to everyone traveling to Baddeck.

We went for breakfast. The coconut pancakes are delicious. Sorry do not have a picture of the food we ate it all. The service was amazing everyone is very friendly and attentive. View from restaurant of the ocean was so nice.

The patio was gorgeous with a view of the water on all sides. We got lunch here after spending the day in baddeck to go kayaking. I ordered the seafood linguine and it was delicious. My partner ordered the grilled cheese with squash soup and was pleasantly impressed. The sandwich had apricot jam with the cheeses and the soup was semi-sweet with cinnamon to complement it. It’s not often that restaurants will offer a flight for what’s on tap. We were excited to try out some local draught and ciders.

A really great restaurant with awesome food. We had dinner and breakfast- both have been freshly prepared and were so tasty.
One of the best fish we had during our vacation in Canada.
Go for the peanut butter brownie cheesecake if available!!!

We stopped here on the way home from the eclipse, it was an absolute fantastic experience. The food was wonderful, my partner ordered the halibut and greatly enjoyed it, and I ordered the seafood linguine which was the best pasta I’ve ever eaten! The restaurants was very cute and our waitress was absolutely lovely!

Great restaurant. Stopped here for dinner after driving the Cabot trail. Wonderful location on the water/harbour front. Service was excellent and food was very tasty. I had the havarti, brie and apricot jam grilled cheese with the soup of the day (butternut squash soup), and it was incredible. The nachos we shared as a family were also very good! Restaurant was clean and we were seated almost right away, despite it being busy. Would come again!

The waterfront restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly and patient service by Isabelle made our visit very pleasant. The Filet medallions were cooked just the way we requested. The dessert, the skor bar cheesecake was exquisite, the carrot cake not so much, it was moist but not as flavourful.

Good choice of local craft beer is offered here.

The food was delicious; love the fact the kitchen is open and you can see them cooking. Chefs and waitresses could be heard singing along with the good music playing. Awesome atmosphere, great service. Absolutely worth coming to this restaurant!

One of the best restaurant experiences while in Cape Breton. Fabulous menu, great service, wonderful atmosphere. A must eat at restaurant while in Baddeck. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast. The blueberry coconut pancakes are out of this world.

Such a cool place! Loved the atmosphere. Was there for breakfast this morning, so delish! Had the coconut, blueberry pancakes, yum! Three thick pancakes, I could only eat one while there and took the rest home. My sis had the poutine breakfast. I tried it and it was spectacular! The staff were super nice! 10/10! I’ll definitely be going back!

Great place. A little tight. Be prepared to wait a little as it's popular Saturday nights (I'd encourage them to stay open a little later Saturday nights as quite a few groups were turned away or left without getting a table). I had lobster roll which was really good. My wife had the black bean burger which was quite good and tasty and our son had the burger which he loved. I had a local beer (big spruce red ale?) and ordered a second... Something I never do. Great view as well as it's right on the harbour. Beautiful atmosphere. Love the open ceiling.

If breakfast is your favourite meal, don’t miss this spot.

Wow… what a great idea it was to stop here for breakfast. The pancakes are off the charts - super fluffy and tasty, they are simply divine. And the lobster scramble - equally yummy.

Great service from Cheyenne, all the staff here are friendly. Located on the water, sit outside if you can. Such a great spot.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 🌟

My wife and I were in Baddeck, NS with a tour group and found the Freight Sled on our first walk through the downtown area. We made our way back on a Tuesday night in late May only to find the place packed inside with a lively crowd, mainly due to it being a little cold for sitting outside. The service was excellent and we settled in with a nice glass of wine. Our appetizer order of seafood chowder exceeded our expectations, while the entree Caesar salads were prepared and chilled to perfection. All were very tasty and the water views made our stay very memorable. Bottom line...if you find yourself in Beddeck, NS be sure to make the Freight Sled a must stop.

We visited The Freight Shed last week Oct/23 and had the mussels and scallops and lobster roll...we arrived to the east coast and every restaurant I went to along the Cabot Trail, Halifax and Wolfville I ate mussels and Lobster and scallops everyday...have to get our fill.... they have by far hands down the best Mussels and Scallops of all the restaurants we went to....I would recommend getting the mussels and Scallops when you go there, they were cooked to perfection!! Yummy!!!!

Awesome meal and fun environment, It’s nice to hear people laughing and enjoying their time out!

Mum and I shared the crab cakes and a lobster roll- both amazing and so fresh! The side salad was delicious too!

A bonus for me is that they carried lindemans which is an Aussie wine, I personally rarely come across that when I’m out for a meal!

What a gem! I had two crab cakes and a glass of rose, a pricey night but delicious. Food, service and atmosphere were amazing. I sat alone at the bar and watched plate after plate of fantastic and beautiful food leaving the open kitchen. Can't wait to go back and try more!!

The best food I had on the Cabot trail. Small cozy restaurant with some really nice waterfront views. Open kitchen so watch as the magic happens . The food was exquisite, the carrot cake was absolutely divine and came highly recommended by the table next to me , it did not disappoint! I was there on a Monday evening in September and it was packed with people waiting outside! Prepare your taste buds for a feast of flavours!
