Welcome Stranger Hotel

The food is amazing while the portions are very generous. The staff are polite yet friendly. The entire establishment is spotlessly clean, including the designated smoking areas.
Only a short walk from everything and there are bus stops on the same street.

Fantastic accommodation.
Clean and tidy room. All the usual amenities in the room. And the bathroom is so much bigger than any other I have ever experienced. It's actually the size of a normal bathroom.
Staff were friendly.
The attached Hotel is welcoming with food, drink, and gaming facilities.
The Salamanca markets are a short stroll as is the botanical gardens, the Marina, museum, and the CBD

We stayed here for just the one night after our flight got cancelled from Hobart airport. We had a great experience with the friendliest of staff. We spoke with Tom on the phone to make the last minute booking and when we arrived he was very helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. Room was clean, comfortable and wasn't noisy. The bar area seemed sociable but due to the early morning flight we were unable to experience this aspect. Well done Tom and the Welcome Stranger!

Quiet ambiance when we visited after the Sydney to Hobart race. There's plenty of pool tables to have a game and good beer selection. It's what you'd call a standard pub. There's nothing to fault with it but it doesn't stand out either. If you're after a more lively ambiance head to a waterfront venue.

have stayed at the welcome stranger on 5 end of season cricket trips and with the family on 3 other occasions owner and staff are brilliant.
the only time they were ever rude was if someone was out of line.
great bar food as well as the best pizzas going in Hobart.
great location for all your day trips.
rooms are what you would expect for the price but the beds are as good as the ones at home

I only stay here when coming to Tassie. Best staff, best atmosphere, good breakfast, nice rooms. The rooms that cost not have better water pressure. Balancing the hot/cold in budget rooms is interesting. That said, it's cozy and affordable for families.

Booked executive room with en-suite number 7. Spacious, quiet, clean. Everything worked well, and there was breakfast and secure parking. Just beware the little step to the bathroom.
Convenient to all of Hobart’s attractions too.

Wouldn't go to tassie without visiting the Welcome. Manager, Tom, is a great publican, service is top rate, food is good pub fare and rooms are clean and comfortable. Great pub that has retained a friendly country pub feel.

Fantastic people who work super hard, especially Tom, he was such a solid guy. Great city location, located within the heart of Hobart. Amazing food for reasonable prices, steaks are phenomenal. Lots of sales, such as steak night/chicken parm night. Comfy beds and sizeable rooms. Free breakfast and parking and biscuits all included with your room.

1st time I have been there and it was a cold Hobart afternoon. The bar was warm and it was happy hour so I enjoyed $5 schooners and stayed warm and comfortable. 👍👍👍

Great atmosphere. Went for a few drinks with a friend. Played some pool and listened to music. Staff were friendly and service fabtastic. Plenty of space and amenities

Recently updated, love the slot cars. Girls behind the bar are very friendly. Beat place in Hobart to play 8 ball.

Lovely staff that could not do enough for you. The room was lovely and spacious and a decent hot shower.

It is a wonderful hotel the owners of the hotels makes you fill really good and there meals are beautiful and you get a big meal for $15.00 and it is cooked beautiful .

Portion sizes are wonderful and we were lucky enough to visit on steack night - was awesome!

Great old pub. Really good service and food. A real shame if development is able to take away one of the truly great old pubs of hobart.
