"CHARCHA" means 'discussions' in Hindi, and it is a play on words, as the restaurant is a located on what used to be an old "Church".

This is a very new establishment. The ambience is absolutely wonderful, the decor has been very tastefully done, while retaining some of the beautiful aspects of the previous church, such as the pews. It is not tacky and looks like a very modern Indian dining experience.

Speaking of the food, we ordered a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian mains, and they were all excellent and authentic. The only area of improvement when it came to food was the Entree. The vegetarian platter we ordered didn't seem like decent value for money, given the offering. The mains however, tasted brilliant and this is definitely going to be a place we revisit whenever we visit Geelong.

Staff seemed super nice, and have some good plans to do some interesting things with the menu in the coming months.

Good catch for lovely food - vegetarian food is really good

We came across this restaurant on our way to the Great Ocean road. We don't eat meat and vegetarian options are generally a compromise.

Charcha has a beautiful ambience and options on the menu to choose from. Food portion being good, the pricing is very reasonable.

We had ordered few vegetarian dishes and the taste was authentic. Will definitely recommend.

Very good food, and great service too, by the guy who served us. We needed something mild for our toddler and he suggested us the right dish. Prices aren't that expensive either. I'd recommend this place.

It is a very unique venue- Chapel converted into restaurant. We tried Peppercorn Chicken, Hariyali Chicken, Tandoori Mushroom and Tandoori Paneer. My favourite Chicken appetizer was the Peppercorn Chicken and loved the Paneer in the veg appetizers.
When in doubt, go with the Biryani, as a hyderabadi, I;m sure you will not find better and authentic biryani anywhere else.

Had an amazing dinner at Charcha with few of my elderly Aussie companions, and it was amazing. We started with the Non-veg tandoori platter which was scrumptious(Chicken tikka and Fish tandoori being my personal favourite).
For the mains, Palak paneer and Lamb Jalfrezi didn't fail to amaze us with its delicious taste.
Good Indian food after a long time!

As a person who's trying to find the best Indian food in Geelong, there are only a few places which I think can satisfy that desire. Charcha is one of them. It's a new restaurant which needs some acknowledgement.
The food is nice. I had Chicken tandoori which is tasty and fresh (can ease up on masala), Lamb vindaloo which is awesome and finally Rasmalai 😋.
Coming to the reception, it was decent. And the place, it's amazing with good lighting, beautiful ambience and wonderful outdoor seating.
I will be visiting soon and it will be greater if they obtain an alcohol licence.

Food taste, quality, quantity, venue and staff are just amazing. Absolutely authentic tastes of all the food I have had here so far.

They are introducing authentic street food from various parts of India; Vada Pav, Dosas, Chicken 65 and Lollipops, Tandoori range such as the regular Tandoori, Malai, Peppercorn, etc. and also Biryani and other curries.

My wife and I have dined-in here a few times now and is starting to become our regular Go-To place.

Prices are very much affordable. and the quantities are great. No compromise on taste, quality, freshness of food and

I recently hosted a party for my closest friends here including a mix of nationality. Everyone enjoyed and praised the food, staff and the ambience. The catering was absolutely affordable as well.

Plenty of on street parking available.

Had a long drive on great ocean road, tired and hungry we halted at Geelong searching for Indian restaurants. We never thought of finding a gem at Geelong and unique one. This place has lovely ambience with its own unique aura, maybe because of it's history. People including the owner working at this place equally made this place even more unique with their friendly nature. Talking about food all the dishes which we ordered were delicious. For sure this place would be on my list whenever I'll travel to Geelong for any reason. ☺

Melbourne and Around is renowned for its internationally fused cuisines and fascinating food culture.

And if you fancy a curry or something rich and warmly spiced when visiting Geelong next, there’s only one cuisine and place you need to try.
This Indian restaurant in a chapel would make your day happy.
Indian cuisine is all about the flavors, spices and aromas that capture the country’s true taste. So, Indian food lovers, if you’re looking for the best mouth-watering dishes, you will be at the right place.

Serving hands down a good dum chicken biryani. For those that are confused by the “dum”, it simply means that the marinated meat and saffron rice are cooked together instead of separately.

Food in general here is tasty without being fiery or overpowering in the use of spices. Each dish had a distinct flavour and every one I tried came across just right.

A tandoori platter which comprised chicken tikka, malai tikka, fish tikka and seekh mutton kebab, turned out very nicely with everything cooked just right.

The Dal Makhani was delicious with a butter-scented gravy that was lightened with tart tomatoes. I also enjoyed the common lamb jalfrezi which was cooked with a distinctly different combination of spices and plenty of onions and capsicums.

Mango lassi made in-house helps tame the spice and I ended the meal with a lollipop-sized pistachio kulfi, scented with cardamom. It is luscious.❤

This newly started place is going to be very popular and busy place for Indian food. Why?
1. Food - Everything is freshly made and is not heavy as there is no excessive use of butter and cream. We tried Veg Platter, Butter Chicken and Chicken 65 Biryani and everything was super. Special call out for Biryani and Salan. They also use yoghurt and not greek yoghurt so the marination and dishes taste different and flavourful.
2. Ambience - setup in an old church the place is spacious and comfortable. It has pleasant and peaceful vibes which makes enjoy the food even more.

Must try place in Geelong.

Ordered the Butter Chicken, Saffron rice and some Garlic Naan on Deliveroo. Just wanted to say it was absolutely delicious. I'll definitely drop by the restaurant to eat there next time I'm out this way.
