You can also come here for lunch — it’s probably quieter and you can enjoy the views. The cider-battered fish was ultra crispy and excellent 💥 The chips were good but probably fell short of the excellence of the fish. The house-smoked salmon had lovely texture and flavour to it. And the house salad was the perfect counterpoint. The service was also friendly and prompt — a great way to have lunch in Hobart 👏

Had a great Friday night there, returned Saturday night and a larger crowd impacted on the limited service staff. Why an order of rum has to be added to the cocktail makers list of things to prepare done my head in. We moved without a reservation to the Evolve bar in the same hotel and I gave it 5 stars on review too. It's a matter of timing.

Great venue for a few drinks! Tried most of the cocktails before heading next door for dinner. Live music. Wonderful service. Great atmosphere! Mood lighting! Loved it!

Lilli and Joel were incredible. Lilli went above and beyond to organise a dinner booking for us on our first night in Hobart. Returned after checking out of MACQ01 just to say thank you and enjoy some local wines over happy hour.

Excellent location for a 'quiet one' with your mistress! Somehow the Cascade Lager is as good as it was at the brewery. Great views- great atmosphere. Decor is one of the best I have seen. Very original. Staff excellent. A bit pricey but I do not mind that when a nice bar makes me feel good. I will return one day but must get back to QE2. Only joking about mistress - but all the rest is genuine. Happy 😊 drinking! Andy

The convict’s old fashioned at the story bar is the best old fashioned I’ve had in my life and would easily make my top 5 of all cocktails. The venue itself is just okay ambience and decor wise but the staff were amazing, snack options were good and prices were very reasonable. Would happily go back to the story bar for drinks anytime.

Moved to Story Bar after dinner. Great bar tenders helped me choose a Tasmanian gin I hadn't had before and the amazing voice and sounds of Erica Bloom. Highly recommend!

The location is so good they could have easily turned out a sub-standard bar experience but they did not. The decor is classy and consistent and subtly tells the story of Hobart and the staff are well dressed, helpful and professional. It's a must-go bar for anyone visiting the city.

Unreal! Came in for a wine and a feed, stayed for a few more wines, nibbles and some delicious Overeem whisky.

Eclectic bar with an amazing view of the Hobart pier. Great vibes with live music and friendly staff!

Good atmosphere, good service, great view, nice seating and GREAT DRINKS. Lovely cocktail menu with ample choice and a little history on each drink to keep you interested!

This would have to be my favourite bar in Hobart. It's a great spot by the water with great views. But what made it was the staff. Matteo and Rachel were extremely kind. They chatted with us and gave us testers of different wines and made us feel extremely welcomed. I have not found service in a hotel/bar combo quite like that of The Story Bar and Macq1. Matteo brought us up a free bottle of wine for my birthday just because we were talking about what types we like! Service like that is unheard of in Australia! Very impressed. Will be back when in Hobart.

It's always a pleasure going to the Story bar. Warm atmosphere warm and welcoming staff and superb selection of drinks. The cocktails are amazing and the bar staff are great at making up anything you desire

When you work hard for your money and go out somewhere you do have a expectation of the service you want to receive. I really enjoyed our family night out here and the staff were very friendly and best off all ... human. Thanks for the awesome experience - we will be back every time we visit Hobart for a few drinks : )

Had my partner's 40th birthday party at The Story Bar and the team there went above and beyond! From the pre-event organising to the service and food on the night, everything was done perfectly. So many, of the 40 attendees, complimented the event and the lovely venue setting. Thank you to all the team!
