Grinners Dive Bar

Was highly recommended by the rum bar next door, Rude Boy. Not just them but by a few bartenders I’ve met around Hobart too.

When bartenders are raving about this place, you know this place has to be good.

Truth be told, I love my tacos and Mezcal. Hence, my picks below.

Mexican Jewel - Such a well thought through and creative cocktail that came with a grapefruit toffee.

Battered Flathead Taco - Proper tacos house made, not store bought. Crispy battered fish with a light and tasty dressing/garnish. Loved it!

Los Agaves Green Label Mezcal - Was checking out the various Mezcal bottles and noticed this gem. Hard to source, strong in flavour. Think of chilli, lime and liquorice.

great bar slightly hipster vibe but we were there at lunchtime so perhaps it rocks at night :) choose the right day and you can try a very decent Mexican food without breaking the bank

Fantastic food in tantalising portions to allow you to try a lot of different things.
Been here a few times and you have to try the Jalapeño poppers, they are awesome!!
Highly recommend visiting here.
Also had a good range of tap beer and cocktails.
If you need to try more they have $5 tacos on Tuesdays, but happy to go anytime and it was super mellow on a Sunday evening.

Great food! My favourite margarita is the spicy watermelon margarita. It perfectly suits my taste! Pork belly tacos and market fish are great too. Sweet corn with cheese on top is so yum if you don't mind grabbing it with your hand and eating like a kitten lol😁😁 staff are friendly and helpful. A variety of chilli sauces are available, feel free to add the chilli sauce and feel the burn on your tongue and lips😁

One of the best Mexican meals I’ve ever had, it was so authentic I expected to be abducted off the street by a Mexican cartel. A couple of Margaritas in and the cauliflower dish followed by a great pulled pork nachos and I wouldn’t have cared if I was.

Tuesday is the best day to go; makes it affordable. Tacos that are anywhere from $6-9 are all $5, all night on Tuesdays. They do great cocktails too and can work with allergies to make tasty ones that aren't on the menu. Really friendly staff! Give the halloumi taco a go...

Stand outs include the Baja Fish Taco, Pulled Pork Quesadilla and Fried Chicken Taco.
Very satisfying.

How can you fault Grinners?! We walked by on the first day of our 5 day trip and vowed to return. On our final night we decided to make room before dinner for the $10 margaritas. They did not disappoint! The spicy was a real highlight. We consumed 3 each and decided to order a pork belly taco each before heading off to dinner nearby (it would’ve been wrong to leave without trying the tacos!) and woweeee! Thanks guys!

Absolutely delicious tacos and there’s plenty of tasty beer on tap. Couldn’t find a better place for a quick lunch and chill out on a Saturday afternoon. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

Walked in on a relatively busy night upon recommendation from our hotel, were very quickly found a table. Quick service on food and drinks and attentive service from the staff. The cauliflower bites were a winner. As tourists, would definitely recommend and come back again.

Awesome food, great drinks and super friendly staff as well. Love the dive bar vibe and the soundtrack as well. If you are going to Hobart go to grinners. I will be back.

Holy amazing!!! The food was amazing. I loved the vegetarian options on offer, did not miss a beat with flavour. The drinks are to die for and had an amazing night. Will definitely be back don’t Brisbane!!!
