Lovely lobster roll, albeit $31 for one. Kids fish and chips was of generous serving and very tasty too. The wings were a bit too salty though I reckon I must have just had a bad batch.

Sit outside if the weather is nice as indoor isnt too spacious. Would recommend if you’re in Salamanca.

Did I pay $35 for a lobster roll? Yes, I did. But, I now know why they are famous for it. This roll is full of succulent Tasmanian Rock Lobster. Honestly the best lobster roll I’ve ever had, and that includes famous Maine lobster rolls in the US. The pub itself is super small inside, so make sure you take a seat outside with the heaters. The team here is super friendly and the overall atmosphere is top notch. I’ll be back next time I’m in Hobart.

Delicious lobster roll and fries. Good beer and cider. They'd sold out of the cherry cider but had the usual organic cider on tap. highly recommended!

After checking out a few other places, We decided on The Whaler for lunch without disappointment.
We ordered the Parma and after one of the bar staff suggested the BBQ Chicken wings.

I was recommended this great pub and it didn't disappoint. The lobster role while expensive was delicious and the wings were spot on.
I would suggest booking if you are going with a group to reserve a table.
Great atmosphere with a heap of patrons. It had a real local feel.

Great pub down in Salamanca, went there more than once.
Great selection beers and great atmosphere down by the Derwent River.
The lobster roll was phenomenal as was the spicy chowder too.
Must also add that the staff are fantastic, making solo tourists like me feel at home and wanting to come back again.

Refreshing version of seafood chowder here, highly recommended. Wide selection of beers and the lobster roll is really tasty. Cosy ambience inside with a wood fireplace and pretty stained glass decorations.

A "real" pub. Wonderful location; both a Summer and Winter winner. Friendly, real staff with an attitude of "Good is Good". Excellent choice of gins and other spirits, great food.

Great value for money food + delicious. Ordered on Uber and driver stole our order after getting it from the store :( but The Whaler remade free of charge a got it to us as soon as possible! Amazing

My favourite burgers in Hobart. The burgers have always been tasty and decent size portions.

Had a few pints and a Parma last weekend. Parma was top notch, one of the best I’ve ever had. Great range of drinks and friendly staff.

Lovely atmospheric spot with fireplace! Fantastic place to enjoy an evening in winter.

Outdoor heating, mulled cider and veggie and kiddo options. Such a win.

I have never tried the food here. Staff and drinks, however, are great. I'm sure the food is just as great as everything else.

Absolutely loved the burgers here. The fish, chicken and beef were top notch and massive. At first we thought no way we can eat all of the burgers and fries due to the size. But the quality of food was a cause and effect to eat everything.

Enjoyed the live music and up beat atmosphere, and felt welcome amongst the many locals enjoying after work drinks and Christmas drinks parties.

Highly recommend the Harbour Master amber ale on tap.

Great warm cosy atmosphere. Fabulous food. The staff are friendly and helpful particularly Grace who makes the best Margarita. Definitely worth relaxing for an afternoon
