Swan River Camping

5 stars because it's right on the waters of Swan River, close proximity to explore the beautiful Freycinet National Park, and it's FREE! There are a few designated sites, but first in first served. 14 day limit. It has sand based sites, & an unsealed road in, short distance from main road.
It's a popular campground for many small van-lifers & tents. But great for c'van's & motor homes.
1 drop toilet.
Beautiful sunsets, sand foreshore & mud based water, but perfect swimming or fishing.
Thanks to local council having this FREE camp.

Absolutely loved staying here the night and would return.
Can see why it gets busy in summer, hopefully it stays free as we saw a sign concerning rubbish disposal in the drop toilet possibly leading to it becoming a paid site due to maintenance.
Sheltered and quiet with pretty views down by the water, not far from Freycinet so easy to access lookouts and walking tracks around Coles bay area.

Great free little campsite, first come first serve. Best to arrive and set up before 6pm (Jan). Can become quite packed. Drop toilet is average. Beautiful short walk to the water.

Water: can be refilled on Harold St playground in town.
Toilets: visitor centre at Freycinet very clean.

Free camping in a stunning location! Basic facilities (one pit toilet) but what a spot! Busy so you may want to arrive early to grab a spot, then enjoy the sunset on the Swan River

We stayed here for one night so we could do our hikes at Freycinet. It is a top spot and free. There was heaps of room while we were here and we could fit our 26ft caravan in easy, it did get busier after we arrived and came back in the late afternoon. We felt completely safe leaving our caravan here! The toilets are very smelly (BYO toilet paper) and going out for a walk along the water was lovely.

Great Free camping 10 minutes form National Park.

I am glad we camped here and not the park. Quiet, amazing bay, swans and free.

Super awesome! Free, you can have a camp fire in the provided pits, incredible sunsets and has a drop toilet! As far as the other comments go, it is not this campsite’s fault that some people are loud or leave garbage. It’s FREE, beautiful and obviously cared for by many. Thank you!!

What a lovely spot... Great camp sites and lots of beautiful birds

Free and easily accessible from main highway without national park pass. Toilet is very small though. No water facility so have to be fully equipped. Amazing sunrise and sunset view from the lake. Great spot for bird watching and campfires. It is only a minute away from lake. Would be difenitely be back.
