Lobster Shack Tasmania

Ate here twice during my two day stay in Bicheno. Staff were lovely, food was fresh and great. View was good too, we even saw a rainbow. I have limited experience with lobster rolls but this is the best I’ve had! Their calamari, fried fish and chips were good too, and my favourite was the fried prawn. Their oysters were fat and fresh too.

This place lives up to its name.

10/10 lobster roll. Fresh toasted and buttered brioche bun, crisp lettuce leaf then filled with fresh lobster meat with the perfect light and creamy dressing which they absolutely nailed so the sweetness of the crays still shone through. An absolute must visit!

The chips were perfect, tasty potato perfectly fried and crunchy. Calamari and fish, again fresh, cooked perfectly with fantastic crunch. Exactly what fish + chips should be!!

Selection of local brews were the perfect accompaniment. And the views were top notch, fab after a walk to the Bicheno blowhole 10 mins away. Locals secret is to take your food and sit on the top level or takeaway and take it to some picnic tables at the end of the carpark

Absolutely loved our lunch at the shack. Hard to decide what to get from the menu as everything sounds great and surely tastes nice.

We went for half a rock lobster and the seafood marinara. Utterly delicious and addictive. We’d come and eat here again any time.

Pro tip for the kitchen on the marinara though: Don’t cut the spaghetti. Not only are you offending all of Italy (I’m being sarcastic 😄), it’s also impossible to eat without making a mess and having to launder your clothes. That sweet taste though… mmh.

Nice food. Their lobster are amazing! Good value for the money, seriously.

The place was quite busy when we came. So fighting for a space is a quite challenge but they had upstairs room.

Don't really have parking spot in front of the restaurant but we came on bad weather, no body was sailing, so we could park at the boat parking area at the front of the restaurant.

If you visiting tasmania, you could consider stopping by at the place in between your destination.

My husband and I stopped in and got the crumbed fish and chips and ate in. It was DELICIOUS. We shared it and it was plenty for the 2 of us, cooked perfectly, hot, fresh and very quick. The staff were really lovely and the view was spectacular. If we were there another day we would have gone back for sure. Thank you!

Came to try the lobster roll and returned for dinner. Great view, friendly staff and very fast service. The lobster roll was fantastic as were the oysters kilpatrick, the seafood chowder and the fish & chips. Would have been nice if you can order individual pieces as I would have added on a few other things.

The lobster 🦞 roll & chips were amazing we waited a year for it and didn’t disappoint. The extension looks great too! Well worth a visit and so close to the blow hole at Bicheno blow hole too!

Really popular spot in Bicheno! We got the shack pack which had a range of fried seafood which was nice, plenty of chips which were crispy and tasty. Lobster roll was alright, didn’t expect it to be in a burger bun but was still decent. Lots of seating with a view of the sea and easy parking. The blowhole is just down the road so we got takeaway and ate there.

Amazing food in an amazing location. Really friendly staff! The lobster roll was simple, but delicious and worth the visit alone. Garlic butter lobster was cooked perfectly too! Thanks!

📝 You have to stop and have your meal here if you're in Bicheno or driving through it. Both food and service at the counter were very good. Note only that food isn't brought to you but you have to pick it up at the counter once it's ready, so there's no service to the table.

🍴 We had lunch here after a hike in the Freycinet National Park and tried beer-battered Orange Roughy and a lobster (of course). Both came with tartare sauce, chips and a salad, which I would have preferred with some seasoning. Still, fish and lobster were amazing. Lobster was priced at market rate.

📍 They have a couple of tables inside and several more seats outside: these are perfect on a sunny day so you can enjoy your food with a nice view.

☝🏼 WiFi was available at the time we were here: a cool surprise since not many other restaurants in Australia had it during our trip.

Awesome dinning area looking out over the water. We chose a shady spot as it was a warm sunny day, so our view was through trees.

The food was absolutely delicious and prompt even though it was reasonably busy.
The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly.

Busy place. For someone who is not a chips fan, they serve crunchy and rightly-done chips that I finished them all. Lobster mornay was great. Lobsters are sell at market price. Planned to have the food right the front waiting to spot the penguins, but the seagulls gang up on us 😆

My partner and I had an amazing experience at Lobster Shack during our Launceston trip. The Lobster Shack team were very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The Seafood Platter was fresh, delicious and packed with flavours. I’ll definitely be back! 🥰

Good quality food with fair price. Very generous portion of the lobster meat in the lobster roll with only $22！ I have even come across the little penguin on the rock next to the parking lot. But the restaurant is close at 7pm, be aware of the time.

I had the 1/2 lobster Mornay. It came quickly and was lovely. I would have liked more salad.
You order at the bench and collect your food when the buzzer goes. There is no table service. Upstairs was quiet and relaxed compared to the bustle that downstairs seemed to be. The nearby islands had penguins and many many seagulls.

Great location on the water by the boat ramp. View of the water. Lots of seating, but not all unobstructed. Good size helpings. Had the lobster roll ( which was on a bun instead of a hoagie.. how they do it in the states). Half lobster with salad and fries was $65 AU.

This is clearly the most popular food spot in Bicheno and I get why. The fish is completely fresh and perfectly prepared. It can get a bit busy, but with a bit of patience you can find a nice spot. We had the lobster roll and the chowder and we would recommend both.

Really enjoyed the lobster roll, seafood chowder, and sweet potato fries. One of the staff members was kind enough to help me carry a tray of food as I had no hope of carrying 2 trays by myself. We were lucky with the weather and sat outside. I highly recommend lunch here!

Fresh lobster with nice view. Pity it was windy the outdoor area has really nice view. Good selection and well priced local beer and wine.
