Bright Barn Retreat

'Amazing views of Bright and surrounding mountains. Great space for the kids to run free. The house was spacious and clean Victoria was always quick in responding to me. Very hospitable with catering for our bedding arrangements and early check in.'

This is an amazing place with a lot of great views and beautiful scenery. If you want a break from city life, this is the perfect place for you

We stayed here a couple of months ago with a group of 10. There were a number of things that we identified that need attention such as broken slats on upstairs bed, wires hanging out of the wall in upstairs room, no running cold water in the bathroom sink in Cecile, excrement on the wall in Cecile, no floor mats to wipe wet shoes when raining going into Cecile, heater in the bathroom didn’t work in Cecile, pool table very worn, downstairs toilet continued to run, basin in downstairs bathroom lose, hazards near play ground not tapped off adequately and other things. I sent a private message to the owners about our concerns. I provided a review on Stayz didn’t specify exactly those concerns out of respect and rated it 3 stars on Stayz public review.
Some of our guest had stayed there before as it’s great for a large crowd and views are amazing, we stayed June 2023.
The responses I received from both owners where accusing and inappropriate to being slanderous. They claimed they had missing kitchen pots (eluding we had taken them) and eluded to ‘someone in our group moving the tap’ from the hazarded. The owners suggested I had some sort of mental health problem and they couldn’t understand why I would write such things about their property because they mostly attract a 4/5 and 5/5 rating (the itemised concerns were sent to them privately not on Stayz public site, I couldn’t understand their response).
They also couldn’t understand why I continued to reply to their comments and suggested ‘there was more to the story’. The owner mad fun of one of my comments and suggested it was made up.
We left the place cleaner than we found it, we did leave it unlocked as that is how we found the entire property. We (two guests)wiped our feet on a bath mat as it was raining and didn’t want to get the floors dirty as there was no where to leave your shoes dry at the door of Cecile.
On our arrival the floors were wet and there was no heating or fire going as the owner had stated the fire had Not been lit, it was very cold.
The rules of the house are sent to you via email and on Stayz but there are far too many pages/emails of instructions this needs to be simplified.
Due to accusing nature of the owners review of me, and they could not remove it unless I removed mine of them, I regrettably removed the review.
I can see how some places only ever get a glowing review such as Bright Barn Retreat as they bully their unsatisfied customers into removing their reviews. Denise

There were several issues with the house.
*The shower in the studio is not functional as it is broken.
*The bathroom downstairs does not open from the inside, I was locked in there and my toddler was in the house on his own as we were the first to arrive. I had to wait 2 hours for the next guest to arrive to let me out. It was lucky that he didn't get into anything dangerous. He was distressed during this time and there was nothing I could do to get out. It was very traumatic.
*The bedroom downstairs has no blinds. This meant our children were up as soon as the sun was up. It also provided no relief from the heat.
*The master room bathroom did not have a functional shower.
*The door to the balcony in the upstairs bedroom with the queen and the single would not stay shut which meant the heat would come in during the day.
*The cubby house is advertised but the upper level is not accessible as shown in the listing
*The bins were full on our arrival
*The cigarette receptacle had been tipped over at the front door on my arrival and I had to pick up the cigarette butts by hand so my toddler would not eat them. I do not smoke so this was disgusting. Covid times this is not acceptable.
*The oven glass broke when we were there as there was no stopper on it. The host expected us to pay for a whole new oven, even though the oven was faulty.
*Save yourself the money and headache and stay somewhere that is not as exorbitantly priced for the facilities
