Ash's @ the Point Cafe, Karumba Point

A beautiful spot in the Gulf of Carpentaria. My son and I got chocolate thick shakes and they were delicious, you could taste the chocolate and it was a proper thick shake. Hot chips were good and the staff are super friendly and helpful.

Battered barramundi - incredible. Best I've ever had. Amazing texture, melts in your mouth, with a crispy batter. Not too oily, just perfect. If you're in karumba you need to eat here.

The best battered Barra, chips and potato cakes done to perfection. Fantastic helpful staff who do Gluten Free for a true Coeliac, and grill the Barra. We have eaten here every few days whilst staying in this iconic location. All staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and
helpful. Meal is brought to your table hot, which I love, with lovely friendly young staff. Tables are cleared and cleaned as you leave.

Best Barramundi and Chips EVER. Freshly caught and cooked. Just up from the cafe is the mouth of the Norman River that meets the Gulf of Carpentaria. So you take your barra and chips with a drink of your choice sit up on the beach and watch the most amazing sunset. Then do it all again tomorrow night. MAGIC

Fantastic grilled fish. Superb sweet potato chips. Scrumptious fresh salad. And great cappuccino. All very well priced. Staff were friendly. I highly recommend this cafe.

Perfectly cooked, light golden colour on both chips and fish, crumbed fish and chips $11 good value and as good as I have ever had.

Love the food here. The crumbed Thread finally Salmon, Barramundi are superb, as is their Barra Burger. Eat here 2-3 times each trip. Sunset across the road is quite spectacular as well.

The local seafood was SENSATIONAL. The freshest and best I have had for a long time. It is going to be hard to eat seafood back home in Sydney after what we had at Ash's. The barra, salmon, prawns were 1st class. It is certainly worth the drive and it is provided by a cafe?
The 2 Thai staff are delightful as well as the Australians on the payroll. I know that all businesses have had issues with Covid however someone should tell the grumble bum he is living the dream in paradise and things could be a lot worse

We just had two very reasonably priced pieces of beautifully fresh lightly battered barramundi fillets, ably supported by fantastic chips. It’s a long way to travel for a special order but if you visit Karumba you MUST eat here.

Great fish and chips!! Service was excellent. We went eRlier in the day and ordered our takeaway meal, to be ready at 6pm so we could sit and watch the sunsetting while eating our meal. It was ready exactly on time and was delicious! Came complete with a lemon wedge and a knife and fork.

Amazing customer service. These ladies are friendly, helpful and make you feel welcome. The food is fantastic, we all had fish and chips and my daughter had the yummiest burger. These ladies were seriously under the pump with a tour group and walk ins yet the service and food was spot on

We ordered a lunch of Crumbed Barramundi, battered Salmon, 1/2kg fresh cooked prawns. Very, very good. It was worth the journey from SEQ for that lunch. The staff were great as well. Thank you!

Can only say wow. Barra and chips absolutely spot on and really well priced. Worth the 8 hour drive from tablelands.

Great experience at this place. Beach close by, short walk. Little shop in motel good for gifts, and things required during stay. Meal for dinner last night absolutely beautiful. Fish just wonderful. Service great, place clean. Covid-19 scan in required.

We were in a cabin. And in off peak season. Apart from not being able to do cruises etc, we were extremely happy with our choice of accommodation. Great food, friendly service. Our only gripe would be that the fans were noisy and quite compact for a family of 4. In saying that, if you were here in tourist season you would only need somewhere to lay your head of a night time.

Fantastic food! The fish basket was amazing and HUGE! The King Salmon grilled was the best I’ve ever eaten for $10!

Can recommend the sea food basket (enough for 2) and the iced coffee's are outstanding. Clean dining area and friendly service.

Had fish and chips for dinner. Was very tasty.

Bright attentive people, good food good price, well appointed accommodation at a surprisingly reasonable tariff.
