Mezethes Greek Taverna

Came here on a busy Saturday evening. Atmosphere was great. The manager was very friendly and engaging. Service was very good throughout. We had the taramasalata starter which is homemade and comes with delicious pita bread and toast. Also the feta wrapped in filo pastry with honey and sesame seed. Very delicious. For mains we had the chicken skewers as well as the prawn dish. Again both lovely. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and we would go back!

Absolutely my favourite Greek restaurant! It’s run by a lovely family and their Skordalia dip is so delicious they sell it to me by the container full! Their potatoes are the tastiest around, and the grilled lamb is delicious. Seriously, try this place if you haven’t yet. (Photo is of the dip. The veggie sticks are mine, theirs present better than that)

Superb atmosphere and food quality. Great regular menu items, but it's always worth a glance at the specials board. Make sure that you book ahead as this place is often busy. Generous portion size.

The service is this place is very good. The waiters and the owner are very welcoming.
The pita bread didn’t feel authentic but it was good.
Then we had octopus and lamb which has a lot of flavour and were good. For dessert we had the baklava, which was good, a bit different to what I’m used to. Overall the experience was good, and would definitely recommend if you want some greek food. Nevertheless, I found it a bit expensive, but probably paying for the location.

Amazing little place down in Salamanca Place. You definitely need to book ahead. This place is well known for outstanding food and service. There's great food always on the menu, but keep an eye on what's happening with their specials board. It's not uncommon to see people turned away as it's packed.

The food was terrific on a busy Saturday night, but it did take 45 mins to arrive. The scallop saganaki on seasoned rice was delicious, and the lamb rack was tender and tasty. It was a small rack indicating young lamb, but there was plenty of it.
We did encounter a glass of Shiraz that was well past its prime and not drinkable.

Found this place by accident and what a delight! We had a large group and had no issue getting in quickly, even though it was a busy night. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious. No one was disappointed with the choices. The lobster risotto and the Barra was a highlight. If you are hungry and looking for somewhere with good atmosphere, I would highly recommend Mezethes.

Wow!!! This place is incredible. We are Hobart locals but went wandering on Friday night for a new place to eat and came across this gem. Absolutely excellent, authentic, made with love food, beautiful Greek wines and beers on offer. Although all these things were incredible I think the best is the atmosphere and sheer joy from the owner and staff. We felt so welcomed and loved, we will be back!!!

I used to dine here on special occasions when I lived in Tasmania. Its been 2 years and it is still every bit as good as I remember. It has a good atmosphere and the staff are super friendly. They make you feel like serving you is an honour.
It's definitely not the cheapest place to eat but the food is consistently good and not over-the-top expensive. The four of us had different items and there were no complaints.

Overall a 5 star review. We got the banquet meal and every part was delicious! The staff were all so welcoming and friendly, and they were able to find us a table despite being booked out on a busy Saturday night. Would definitely recommend!

We had no booking but they accommodated the four of us anyway. We ordered moussaka, pastitsio, main calamari, main octopus, saganaki, Greek salad, ouzo and other drinks. The staff were friendly and ensured we were comfortable. The food was amazing and filling😀

What a great meal! We'd been eating well all week, but Mezethes was a standout! Not just because of great food like the whole barramundi, but because of the great service. The picky eater in our party had her heart set on spanakopita (and had only been enticed to the restaurant on the proviso that it would be available), so when we first heard they had sold out for the night, she was crushed! Seeing her disappointment though, the staff made some enquiries and found a way to make one last round - saving the meal for all of us!

This place captures the magic of some of the best restaurants we went to in Greece itself. The service and atmosphere was phenomenal with the owner at absolute gem. You can tell his joy comes in food and a great time. We went the banquet and the food was amazing, with those truly mind-blowing greek spices just perfect. Cannot recommend enough, if you like real Greek food and atmosphere, just go, you will not regret it!

A real gem. Food is so fresh and beautifully presented. When we visited there was live music which had the place filled with patrons up dancing and singing along. You really feel like part of the family. Try the delicious wraps for a quick lunch or dine in.

Four nights in Hobart and ate here twice for dinner. Decided it was the perfect place to celebrate our 40th anniversary. Thankyou Anastasiou for our memorable night. Positively recommend Mezethes for extraodinary service, amazing food and beautiful atmosphere

My husband and l ate at this amazing restaurant last night. We were so impressed with the food and service. The owner Anastasio was an outstanding host. Best Greek food ever and we have eaten a lot of Greek food in our day. Do your self a favour and check this amazing restaurant, you won’t be deserved.

Pleasantly surprised at the food and service. Everything we ordered came quickly and was lovely. The head chef and owner Sofia even made the effort to come and greet us as we are Greeks from Melbourne. Highly recommended!

Lamb shanks are the tastiest and tender meats you'll ever eat.
Can't wait to return to Tasmania just to have move lamb shanks.
