The Retro Cafe

This is a funky little cafe in the Salamanca area of Hobart. Coffee is excellent I had a soup Le shot regular flat white with oat milk. I think I. Tasmania this is called a strong coffee. I also had an amazingly muffin baked fresh that day Banana and pear and blueberry. I had asked for butter did not need it. My partner was very healthy and had fresh fruit and yoghurt. I also had a great fresh fruit drink orange carrot and ginger and the ginger was not over done. Cost is usual $$ The carrot cake in the photo I did not have but it looked amazing.

We loved this place. We escaped the rain for a late breakfast and we were very lucky to get a table.
'Retro' says it all, it's like the Greek milk bar down the corner from my youth, but on steroids!
The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was unique.
Perfect place for a quick bight or a cuppa.

Way tasty toasties as well as a delicious smoked salmon and avocado salad today!

Very very very tasty brunch! Stopped by here on our final morning in Hobart, and had our brunch outside in the sun. The food was tasty, hot and flavoursome, the coffee warm and delicious and the staff friendly and attentive. Waiter forgot our orange juice but picked up on it and corrected it quickly. The eggs Florentine with smoked salmon and sourdough toast with butter were both perfect, and we followed these up with the banana bread! We will be back here on our next Hobart visit.

Nice spot if you are looking for breakfast. I had the poached eggs with pesto on sourdough toast. It was superb. The pesto was homemade and the depth of flavour was fantastic. We are going back tomorrow to try another dish.

Hands down one of the best breakfasts I have had down in Hobart. The service was prompt and the food was scrumptious and too top it off the coffee was the icing on the cake !

This Salamanca cafe is ideal for the experience. I ordered toasted muesli with fruit, yum. Coffee is awesome.

I had an excellent flat white coffee while reading the daily newspapers here. Good to find a cafe in Hobart that still provides papers for their customers to read over a coffee!

Popped in on Saturday for a coffee. The market was on, but I knew I would get one in my hand quicker than ordering from a coffee van.
Can't fault the service at the Retro. My coffee was ready in minutes, it tasted great & value was spot on.
The decor in this cafe is quirky & interesting. You are always made feel comfortable when you walk in the door.

We enjoyed a cuppa and morning tea here while visiting the markets. The staff were lovely and friendly. The drinks were great and they have a fantastic selection of gluten free treats! They also have lactose free milk
