The Duchess Cafe

Rang up to book a spot for 8 people, easily accommodated us. Food was absolutely top shelf. I ordered the Sour Dough with eggs bene, smoked salmon and beetroot jam. Coffee was delicious.

Our first port of call for lunch after arriving in Hobart - was a pleasure to be met by super friendly, welcoming staff. The food here is absolutely DELICIOUS and the venue is cute, spacious and tranquil with plenty of space. Highly recommend!

Very nice breakfast, coffe and desserts. Went on a public holiday when many other places were closed. Staff was mobbed but did an excellent job. Food was very nice. A quaint little cafe with a nice garden. Will return.

This brunch, in my personal opinion, the best one in Hobart. Me and my partner visit at least twice a month. They offer a different special meal every weekend, always surprising us, and the portions are generous. The coffee is also excellent ( I recon honey+oat coffee 😏), and the staff friendly. In all, the Duchess cafe is a place that well worth your time to enjoy!

One of the best burgers I've had in many years! Fries were nicely thin, crispy and hot! The coffees are very good, too. Highly recommended when you're in town, just be aware they close at 3pm.

We discovered the Duchess Cafe by pure fluke and so glad we did. The Cafe was once a lovely cottage and still holds the quaint charm from that era.
The coffee was soooo good and perfect! We had their scones too - yummy!

We also saw several locals coming in, greeted by the staff as they entered with the question of "the usual ..." some even came in to book for lunch too.

Good Eggs Benedict, and tasty sides of bacon. Large front yard made it quiet inside despite being on Sandy Bay road. Fast and happy service.

We booked a table for a gender reveal brunch celebration, and the staff were so special and kind, setting up a table for 15 people, and letting us bring in the decoration and balloons. The atmosphere was warm, the mother and father to be were very happy, they felt like family. We Recommended The Duchess Cafe to celebrate something in a breakfast or brunch time.

Amazing, and I really mean AMAZING, food. Fresh, delicious and awesome flavours. Lovely clean and beautifully presented Cafe with gorgeous, friendly and very attentive staff. Food came out very fast and all at the same time with four very different meals in perfect presentation and temperature. Coffees made obviously with love and very artistic presentation. Absolutely can not fault this experience in the slightest. Perfect in every way. Such a pleasure.

English house converted into a fancy brunch place. Lovely place and excellent food!

Absolutely beautiful atmosphere with great food and service. Everything was just perfect, the food arrived just on time and the customer service was brilliant. Lots of options available to try for breakfast or brunch. I would highly recommend this place.

Visiting from Melbourne and found the best breakfast in Hobart. I tried the Avocado on Rye, Vegetarian Duke and Smashed avocado. Excellent food, very flavourful and presentation of was super duper. I’ll be coming here again for sure.

You never go wrong with your orders. Regular visiting this cafe, and be surprised about the food. It’s amazing all the time.weekend special also highly highly recommended.

A surprisingly EXCELLENT meal with the most delicious brekky I've had in a long time! Fabulous flavours, delightful presentation and just utterly scrumptious!!! 5 stars to staff service and a clearly talented chef!!

This place is a gem. Firstly, it's the best coffee around Sandy Bay in my opinion! Also, the coffee serve is generous. The price is very reasonable, staff are exceptionally friendly and remember us. The other patrons are also very friendly and we love it that we can take our dog and she can have her own pupaccino on the veranda with us. There are heaters to warm you on a chilly day. And it's popular with other dog owners from the area.

As a New Yorker, I am truly surprised by the brunch served in this cafe, nice food and large portions, must have!

We were a group of 20 having high tea, and the staff did a great job with such a large group. The food was delicious. Special mention goes to the chocolate brownie 😋
The tea was served in individual tea pots with lovely fine bone china teacups.
I'll definitely be going back.

The Duchess Cafe provides an excellent meeting place whether it is for a family meal, or a business coffee. I must admit I tend to order the same thing each time when visiting and am very happy as it provides a relaxed atmosphere to talk shop about current events and to do so efficiently.
