Suminato Japanese Restaurant

Was by far our favourite meal on our trip to Sydney & Tasmania.

Highlight was the kingfish carpaccio. My cousin was hesitant as she said everyone in Sydney serves this, but this one was like no other. Was the perfect balance of flavours, leaving you wanting more.

The sukiyaki was also good, a nice filler.

The other highlight was the aburi salmon don - the perfect amount of smokiness and fattiness. Another good filler.

Dined at this beautiful Japanese restaurant a few days ago. Fantastic food all round. Staff were excellent very attentive and helpful...even helping to keep an eye out for parking meter monitors.
One of our party had never had Japanese food but enjoyed her Teriaki chicken dish. The kingfish ceviche was fantastic and i would definitely go back for it.
Highly recommended.

The food was very good! Bit pricey but it's worth it. Atmosphere was modern and traditional at the same time. I liked it.

This place was perfect!!

The food was so well presented and carefully plated, the steak was cooked perfectly and the atmosphere was warm, friendly and inviting. Lots of traditional accents to the decor but also very modern.

Did I mention the food was delicious!

Had a wonderful experience at Suminato! The food was flavourful and delicious, it also was fresh and served well! The staff were incredibly friendly and had great hospitality skills! The venue was neat and tidy and had great atmosphere! Overall I can highly recommend Suminato for delicious Japanese food and a great venue to socialise and meet with friends! It has to be a 5 out of 5 stars from me! I will be returning for sure!

This place is amazing! The fish was so fresh, the flavours were inspired, and the presentation was gorgeous. This is a must visit in Hobart. We loved the kind, attentive service too. Thank you for a very memorable meal.

Everything is soooo good here. Not a single Japanese restaurant in Sydney can match the food here. The staffs here are nice and attention to detail. A great place for a date, family and friends gathering as well. The only sad thing is that I'm only here for a few days.

Very good modern Japanese food served here. Friendly quick service. We had the larger of the two banquets which was good value for the amount of dishes served. Very clean toilets here. Great place for casual dining or large groups. Would go back again.

This is a must visit sushi spot in Hobart. We come here very often and it never disappoints! Food, service, ambience and overall experience is consistently 1000/10.

Gorgeous decor, feels like i am in Ginza in Tokyo. Seats are comfortable and tables are well spaced out. Sake and drinks selection is extensive.

Service is excellent and just the right amount of attentiveness without being overly interrupting.

We loved the salmon don, kingfish cappriccio, Beef tataki, chicken karage and sashimi. The rice for the sushi rolls is a little hard, so we did not enjoy that one as much.

Suminato is always my first preference when looking for Japanese cuisine in Hobart. Staffs are friendly and welcoming, dishes are meticulously prepared and served, you will never be disappointed!

Love eating at Suminato, the food is exquisite, good variety, we usually go for the banquet, always a wonderful experience. The staff is always helpful and friendly. There's also a excellent variety of Saki available, love a good Saki, preferably warmed but cold is okay. Highly recommend Suminato in Sandy Bay..... Cheers!

Had the Chef's Banquet Menu plus the grilled miso oysters. Absolutely exquisite! Well worth the price. Highly recommend this place! Service was 10/10 as well.

The staff were amazing and the food was absolutely incredible! Some of the best Japanese food I have ever eaten. If you find yourself in Hobart, do yourself a favour and go.

Warm hospitality with great food. Definitely the number one Japanese food in Tassie. We ordered some cocktails from a large range of options, the watermelon flavour is my favourite. Scallops are well seasoned. Will be back for sure!

We’ve been here a few times and it never disappoints - authentic Japanese food done well. Beautiful decor, attentive staff and fantastic food. We ordered a range of dishes and they arrived quickly and were delicious. We were celebrating my mother’s birthday so the staff surprised her with a cocktail!

Had a lovely experience with my partner. Fresh sashimi, great decor, and the staff was lovely. Would highly recommend but you'll need to book.
