Google directed me to this little gem! We were on our way back from Bruny Island and needed takeout for our last night in Hobart.
The staff were so friendly and accommodating and the food delicious !

Had a beautiful dinner they are real magic curries. Special tandoori platter is highly recommended served on hot sizzling plate. Great service…beautiful atmosphere… lovely staff. Always excellent…
Great management even though fully packed restaurant on boxing day

My family and I had dinner at this place during our visit to Hobart. It's a family friendly restaurant located in a cosy suburb. We had butter chicken, lamb biryani, palak paneer and naans. The food was just amazing. Lamb in the biryani was melting in the mouth. The paneer was super soft and portions were generous. Great ambience. Great Service. We're certainly going there again.

Superb food, excellent service. The staff were fantastic and the ambience was great too. What a little treasure. Biryani was slightly undercooked for me but maybe that's the way it should be 😁

Magic Curries is a gem of an Indian restaurant! The food was amazing, and the service was top-notch. The naan was fresh and delicious, easily the best we've had in Australia. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Magic Curries, an authentic Indian gem nestled in Hobart. From the moment I stepped in, the inviting aroma of spices set the tone for a memorable experience.

The menu is a tapestry of India's diverse culinary landscape, offering a delightful array of dishes. The main course was a symphony of tastes, with the butter chicken stealing the spotlight—a perfect balance of spices that left my taste buds dancing.

The staff added to the charm of the evening, providing insightful recommendations and ensuring a seamless dining experience. The ambiance, adorned with elegant decor and soothing music, transported me to the heart of India.

We got take away. It was amazing. The curries were great but I would say the spice is a lot more than advertised. If you normally get Hot, you should get Medium. If you are a Medium person, then get Mild. The pakoras and cheesy garlic naan were amazing. Loved the raita and chutney. Will definitely order again!

We didn’t eat in, we ordered takeaway, so I cannot speak to ambiance and table service, but our food was ready in under the 20 minutes estimated, and handed over with a smile.
My husband and I have been to India, have eaten Indian food all over the world in cities with strong Indian communities, and I have to say that the food here in Magic Curries did not disappoint at all.
The curries were delicious… although I’m embarrassed to admit that the “medium” was a bit spicy for us… clearly we’ve gotten soft and need to up our game! The vegetable biryani was excellent and full of vegetables. All the ingredients seemed of top quality, nothing oily or fatty.
I highly recommend Magic Curries and would happily return in the future.

Fantastic little restaurant. If you like Indian food, then this is the place to go. Well-prepared food and always delicious. And consistent — I first visited this restaurant in January and had cause to visit Hobart again in September. The food was just the same. I stayed a week in Hobart and ate at this restaurant 3 times that week. Cosy atmosphere with excellent and courteous service. Old school.

I’ve been there to order takeaway and the service was great, I ordered butter chicken and cheese garlic naan, it was quickly prepared and both were absolutely delicious! It’s definitely 5/5 - at this busy time of the year not having to wait much and get good food is a plus!

Had the pleasure of dining at Magic Curries during a trip to Tasmania.

The place itself was nice and quaint, with an authentic feel throughout.

We had the Vegetable Samosas as an entree. The filling was flavorsome and the dough was nice and soft - the best samosa dough I’ve tasted!

For mains we had the beef madras and butter chicken along with and assortment of breads. Both curries were authentic and full of flavor. The Butter Chicken in particular was divine with that tender smokey chicken fresh out of the tandoor oven. The paneer filled bread was our favorite!

Highly recommended if you live or plan on stopping by Hobart.

A small restaurant hiding in Battery Point. Recommended by a friend, so we decided to give it a try. The decor is very heart warming. Sitting by a fireplace in a cold weather is one of the best things. Our group is very happy with the food. The host and waitress are both very friendly with prompt service. Restaurant is little small so tables are quite close. But overall, a really good place for dinner.

Out of this World curries! We visited a restaurant over the road the night before and this place caught our eye as we left so we decided to look it up. The establishment itself is full of authentic Indian charm and the food is just to die for. We ordered samosas to start and then (the only downside) waited quite some time for the mains to arrive but my goodness was it worth it. The butter chicken and mango chicken were just absolutely fantastic. The gravies were just the right amount of sweet, savoury, tangy and delicious. I won’t be able to stop thinking about this place for a while.

It was our first visit here tonight and it wont be the last. We had butter chicken, prawn marsala and vege dish - they were all so beautifully tasty. Service was great too and the owner was so friendly and welcoming. We will see you again soon!

Visited with friends from Victoria what a warm welcome by lovely staff and sumptuous food. Great spice level and consistency.
