Blue Bird Fish & Chips & Chinese Restaurant 旺达中餐

The lockdown has driven me crazy and as my mum is stuck here with no flight back home, I decided to take her for a day trip somewhere she has never been -Great Ocean Road. She is quite passionate towards taking a lot of pictures so we decided to use the inland route first and by the time we arrived at Apollo Bay, it’s already 14:30. Several restaurants have been closed due to pandemic and only few options for us to choose from and we are so glad we chose this one which is the best seafood lunch we have had so far. The owners were so welcoming and even offered us some Cherries from their own yard. We ordered a one kilo lobster and half fish and a traditional Cantonese style lobster porridge and some veggie which I forgot to take pictures as I was busy chowing down the yummy lobster when the dish is served 😂 Highly recommended to anymore who wanna have a good taste of locally sourced seafood or someone who loves authentic Chinese cuisine. Thanks Anne, you guys are awesome! Will revisit again once I bring friends or family traveling along GOR again!

Stumbled across this gem when I wanted my Asian food fix and it did not disappoint!

I ordered the beef rice noodles and it was delicious. Great portion and was very quick to serve. The food was so good, I came back the next day for some lobster.

My friend and I ordered a full lobster with noodles cooked with onions and ginger. Again, we didn’t wait long for it to be cooked and it was very tasty.

I will definitely be coming back here.

Very delicious boiled fish fillet, and slatpeppper king prawn~ traditional Chinese chef and taste! It retrieved my memories traveled in China.

We had a lovely Lobster meal in Apollo Bay, the food was delicious and fresh.

We were there last week, had dinner there two days in a row. The tasty and hearty spicy fish soup revitalised us from the long day of driving and sightseeing. Kids loved the dumplings, claim to be the best they had. Fish and chips also nice with crispy skin, different from the normal thicker batter, taste amazing.

We are sorry to hear the news this morning. Hope you’ll re-open in the near future. It is a restaurant since 1928 after all, must be resilient enough to stay open for almost a century.
Good luck and hope we’ll be able to have the lovely meals again next time we are in Apollo Bay!

Ended up here because other restaurants/kitchens had closed. Turned out great! Friendly staff, quick service, decent price and portion size. I got the seafood noodles which I really enjoyed, and the scallop and XO sauce was good too and had plenty of vegetables in it. Would definitely come back next time I’m in Apollo Bay.

It is a really surprised meal，you have to ask for private kitchen, abalone is very fresh.

Venture in a little later in the evening as most other restaurants are closed. What a pleasant find it was. Ordered the steamed fish, lobster porridge and stir fried crocodile meat. All dishes were delightful, especially the steamed fish. So fresh and just the perfect tenderness. The lobster porridge was a big bowl of yum and comfort. Definitely will come back again the next time we are in Apollo Bay!

The fried rice I had was one of the best I’ve had. My Husband had the 🐊 and said it was good. The sweetest lady works there, she appears to do front of house as well as the cooking, what a trooper! Will definitely return next time we’re in Apollo Bay.

Excellent Chinese meal. Asked what they had fresh and they offered to steam up half of a big fish that had come in that day. It was simple and delicious. The decor is basic and some music would help with the ambiance. The guy who served us was friendly and helpful. A surprisingly good find in AB.

Foods served are delicious and both quantity and price are reasonable big.

Highly recommend this place. Friendly and helpful staff even with a 2 and 4 year old. Food was great. I had the crocodile, singapore noodles and honey chicken. All were fantastic. This honey chicken is the best we have had from a chinese shop.

Recently had a beautiful Chinese lunch at this recently revamped cafe restaurant. There is a wide variety of first class menu options, three of us chose different items to share and evaluate. We were genuinely knocked out by the quality, and exceptional value, price wise. This newly adapted Chinese cuisine, is the best Chinese in Apollo Bay, so give them a try, you won’t be disappointed....

The friendly owners gave us a discount and the food was more than delicious. She gave us a complimentary plate of delectable beef for the child that was complaining about how he was still hungry. $50 for a fish head soup, steamed fish (which was caught in the same day), two bowls of rice and plate o meat!

My wife and I stayed in AB the other week and we ate here 3 times.Fried rice is delicious and the honey chicken is very nice.I had a hamburger with the lot which was very good.The lady that runs the place is very nice and we will certainly be back.

I can't speak about anything but the Hamburgers with the lot . Fresh Ingredients and a big tasty burger ! 3 times in a row , Will definitely drop n for a burger next time I ride around the coast .

Usually came here when I pass by for chips , after start new Chinese restaurant still offer good food and nice service, when we stop by for lunch this afternoon lots people inside , but meals still came fast and wonderful (especially the spicy fish), it's a really nice location for spending time with family !

Best spring rolls I've ever had, hands down! Chips were also tasty, beef and noodles great. Highly recommend!
