Castle Taj Indian Tandoori Restaurant | Best Indian Restaurant in Sydney

Castle Taj has a decent ambie ce, staff is very courteous and food is amazing.

There is ample parking in the basement and ample seating inside and outside.

We had Lassi, paneer, and dal dishes, and we loved everything.

I even forgot to pay, and the restaurant was fortunate as I mentioned my profession, and they googled me to find my number. 😀

Overall, it was an amazing experience.

We visited for dinner. Food was good. The place is pretty big. The veggie platter was good. It helps you taste all the starters. Veg dum biryani was good too. Service was good too. The chef cooked the noodles less spicy for kids. They have outdoor seatings too. Toilets were well maintained. The place is accessible outdoor seating, forgot at the entry if there was a step.

My husband and I relocated from Gold Coast yesterday and were looking for an authentic Indian restaurant to dine in. A salesperson recommended this restaurant to us. Honestly, we were blown away by the food and par excellence service. We had biryani which was very tasty and the amritsari fish was top notch. Their sauces are probably one of the best we have tried. Sumit, the owner’s service is exceptional. He immediately helped us by giving us valuable tips on how to navigate our way in Sydney given that we’re newcomers. We’re very appreciative of his kindness. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful experience.

Food was sumptuous. Taste has always been great. Improved new menu with more options. Service was excellent. Head chef/owner personally came to speak with us, which is something you do not experience nowadays. Keep up the good work!

Not having eaten since midmorning, I was looking for a good place to have a substantial dinner
I checked around and Castle Taj Indian Tandoori Restaurant looked like the one
First it had lots of reviews, good ones, and the place was big, making me feel confident
I went inside and appreciated the authentic Indian vibes through the decoration, music and staff indeed

Talking about the staff, I found them very welcoming, attentive to anyone's needs, taking the time needed to explain items when asked, and make (good) suggestions too

The menu is big, with kabbab, tikka, tandoori, chicken, lamb, fish, seafood, rice, naan, salad, kulfi...
They have banquet options too
And lots of drink options, wine, beer, spirit, cocktail, mocktail, lassi...

Also to be noted they close late, 10:30 PM, which is appreciable

I personally had
- ginger apple fruit punch
- mango lassi
- kesari paneer tikka (which is cottage cheese marinated with chosen spices and hung yoghurt cooked in tandoor)
- samundar ka khazan (mix seafood curry , with barramundi fish, prawns & scallops, a recipe from Konkan coast in Goa)
- mixed herb & garlic naan (which wasn't officially on the menu, herb & garlic ones officially are different ones, but I could get it, and so could you if you asked)
- pistachio kulfi

It was all yummy and came in good servings

To be noted while I was there there was small birthday celebration, and actually I was told that they can have private parties

Castle taj tandoori is one the finest authentic Indian restuarant in the hills district.
It is our first choice for fine dine lunch, dinner, hosting a birthday party or family events.
Food is really tasty here with just the right blend of spices and the portions are quite generous.

We had recently hosted my daughter's birthday party here. Entire event was organised and managed without any hassle. Not to miss everyone simply loved and praised the food here.

Highly recommend
Main course- Tikka masala Nveg/Veg, Chef special Paneer kofta.

Starters -Resami panner kebab and its Hyderabadi dum biryani reminds me of my mumbai days.
Sumit - The Owner and the entire staff here are so humble and will carry a smile as you step in.
I enjoy each time we visit here.

We were in the area and found this place on google. After reading reviews, thought we'd give it a go and so glad we did! Food was great tasting and service was pleasant. The ambience inside was also great. Thank you for a beautiful lunch

Amazing service, this local restaurant puts a lot of care and effort in their food and looks after their customers. We tried a rose lassi which was delicious and their home made gulab jamun. Would 100% go back again.

Nice experience, food was great, owner and his staff were very warm and friendly, must recommend Bhuna Goat ( very different and pure 5 star style with subtle flavours) and Nan, but the show stopper was the desi style chilli chicken probably one of the best so far we had in Sydney. Gulab jamun was amazing as well.

Amazing food, amazing service. They are always consistently good. There's not a single dish that we have had that's not been amazing. Highly recommended!!

One of the best if not the best Indian restaurant we've been to and we have been to a lot. For starters we had Gobi Manchurian , garlic and cheese naan. Followed by our favourite Paneer Tikka Masala, and Methi Chicken as suggested by our host Vijay.
Food was was delicious and very friendly staff.
Highly recommend it.

Castle Taj not only serves the BEST Indian food. I have not found an Indian restaurant better than them!
I've been to India and this by far is the best I didn't restaurant in Sydney.

But their customer service is far superior than any other restaurant I have been to.

So glad I found them.

First time eating here.. the service was wonderful! We ordered the Butter chicken (sweet, hearty and creamy), Lamb Vindaloo (tangy, with a bit of heat), with a serving of cheese nann and garlic nann. The food was hot, fresh and so delicious. Highly recommend this place, we had such a great time and will be back for sure!!

A hidden gem... We had a lovely lunch here, with chef Kanchan introducing herself to us and suggesting dishes for us. The mango lassi and all the dishes were all delicious. I especially loved the mango chicken. The dishes may look small coming out but they are very very filling and there was more than enough food for all of us. The kids even got special kids-sized lassis and kids meals. Highly recommend if you love Indian food.

This was my second time visiting this place and not going to lie the food taste was same as the first time. I believe that is what made me visit again. The restaurant staff are very nice specially the manger was making sure we enjoyed the place.

The food was excellent, particularly recommend the mango chicken. Kanchan, the chef is most accommodating, and only wants to give you an excellent dining experience. We had an excellent time.

Really delicious meals. I think this is some of the best Indian I’ve had in Sydney. Definitely going back!! The cucumber salad is simple but delicious!!
