Bibo Cafe + Restaurant

Pretty garden with a fish pond, cozy house with nice music and ambiance. Staff was very nice and food was reasonably priced and there was an extensive menu. Quick seating and service with delicious food and drink, would recommend eating here. 😋

Tried this place on a whim. Nice and quite, very clean it smelt really nice.
Coffee was a creamy blend even my decaf one was too.
The food was really tasty, food came out in a shorter time than most cafes but was fresh and the mushrooms and overnight tomatoes were amazing, im fussy and im serious, they were above normal cafes.
This place deserves more attention.
10/10 would come here again.

Always love Bibo's. Today had a brilliant pickled octopus and calamari salad. One of best lunches I've had, pickled for over 8 months the octopus just melted in my mouth. Great food and service, whenever I'm back in Ballarat from SA Bibo's is the first I go for coffee and/or food.

Delicious locally sourced food. Interspersed with some great seafood, often caught by the owner himself. We visit this cafe once or twice a week. Also, kept us well fed during lockdown. My partner loves Charlie's roast lamb dinners, see picture

I've been here twice so far. I'll keep going. First time I went, I had the seafood chowder. It was tasty; it had around 4 different kinds of seafood with some veggies in there: bit of potato and broccoli and I like that. Today, I had the prawns in tomato confit. It had little bursts of lemon flavour every now and again, and I liked the vegies in there too: spinach and beans.

The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. It's a large old converted home with various interesting bric-a-brac decor here and there. I spent a bit of time reading one of the books. Perhaps it was there for display purposes only, but, I kept it clean and put it back when I was done.

In particular, I noticed the gentleman of the establishment - I assume he is Charlie - and he is why I am spending time writing this review. He's friendly and chats with customers if they wish and it's not too busy. He is kind; he gave me slices of cake to take to my elderly parents. I told them about my lunch and how the cake was a gift from the Gentleman. Dad ate his slice right away and the whole piece was gone very quickly. He picked up the last crumbs with a finger to get every last bit. Mum is saving her slice for later. Thank you Charlie, for adding a touch of love to our day. <3

Hadn't been to Bibos for years. Was happy to see Charlie still there. We had an amazing experience, could not fault anything. Loved the decor of our intimate dining. Perfectly cooked steaks. Duck and Pork Belly Devine. Entrees and sides full of flavour. You have to have the haloumi on greens, it is so tasty. Service was personal. Our group of five all left happy and satisfied. It will be sad the day that Charlie is no longer on board, whoever follows will have big shoes to fill. Thank you Charlie for an unforgettable evening.

Went for breakfast which is served all day. Fresh delicious and plentiful. So much bacon we don't eat bread so we loved our serving of native greens and spinach. Lovely coffee and something I love is a pot of tea served with extra hot water ..A leisurely not rushed experience. We look forward to coming back ( the cakes look so yummy).

Great staff that make you feel like family.

The heritage building set off the street and its decor that feels like a country kitchen at your favourite Aunts house just welcomes you in.

You have to try the chocolate cake for desert.

Great food, great coffee, great staff.

Do yourself a favour and try something new and you won't be disappointed.

Charlie was the chef and owner, we had a wonderful chats about how food has to be prepared fresh and locally sourced. He was a gentleman and let us sample some fresh cake which was baked onsite, he even let us take home some homemade jam. Excellent service, tasty food will be back for a weekend brunch date very soon.

Went on the good friday and the place was packed to the nines, so naturally service is a bit slower but didn't stop both servers regularly checking in with guests and making sure everyone was happy.
One of the few places open GF morning and I can appreciate the effort all round in working PH with minimal staffing. Food was delicious and the coffee was great.
Will absolutely visit again.

What a gem of a Café in Ballarat! It feels like a throw back to the days where you can just walk in, have a chat with the friendly staff and relax!
I arrived late Saturday afternoon and the owner Charly offered me a room to stay, then guided me to where I could park my motorcycle overnight and was a charming host to have breakfast with 😁 The staff are warm hearted, welcoming and an absolute pleasure to deal with! The food is wholesome, has a home made taste and the place has a special vibe to it.
I can highly recommend it for your next stop when in Ballarat.

I have fond memories of Bibo in my early 20's, and was very impressed re visiting today with a dear friend enjoying fresh produce, and a colourful menu.

One of the most unexpected and pleasant surprises I've found in Ballarat. Doesn't make any wild claims or have outrageous hype. Quietly nails the food and the atmosphere.Coffee delish, food excellent, oodles of ambience. Our favourite place for breakfast when visiting Ballarat. I particularly LOVED the wall to wall decorations of retro items. Will highly recommend this cafe to all.

I found my favorite Ballarat breakfast spot. Such a gorgeous cafe amazing staff and a down to earth owner who offered me so many tips and answered all of my questions as I was new to town. Will 100% be back. The front deck and water feature is the perfect setting. Oh and there orange juice is the best you will ever have garunteed.

Great food, menu options, friendly service, great coffee and space. Highly recommend this cafe, we will be back to try the lunch and dinner menu. I had the baked beans with poached egg and spinach, loved it.

Beautiful spot to have a Pinot and enjoy a delicious antipasto platter under the umbrellas listening to the babbling waterfall.
Exceptional customer service and friendly atmosphere. Definitely coming back.
