Chai Vegetarian Cuisine

Oh my, more people should know about this Vegetarian dining place, it’s by far the most authentic one I’ve had around here. The dishes tasted and smell just like the ones back home (I’m chinese Indonesian). Craving absolutely fulfilled! The lady who was serving me was very lovely as well. Would definitely come back for more!

I’ve been eating here over a decade and it’s my top recommendation for vegetarian food! You can’t go wrong with any of the delicious dishes. This is the restaurant I will take someone to if they say they “hate vegetarian food”. I went here on my first date with my fiancé and we’ve been together going on 8 years now. The owners always remember me when I go in and are super friendly. Also, the prices have stayed pretty good even with the cost of living serge. If I was going to be executed this would be my final meal, I don’t think there is any higher praise you can give!

Lydia is a fantastic lady with so much warmth in her heart , food was yum . You can choose base as fried rice /noodles with 2 curries ( I had 1 soy potato and mock pork made of wheat ) . It was lunch deal for regular as $16 .

I have been eating at Chai Vegetarian for over a decade and not once have I been disappointed. The food is delicous, Edgar and Lydia are always so welcoming and friendly. Their little cafe is quiet and lovely to be in. It is stroller and wheelchair friendly too. Fabulous spot.

Delicious vegan food and really kind people!

One of my absolute favourite eateries for work lunch. I eat here at least once a week, often more.
Lydia and the tram always have a good variety of tasty vegetarian dishes, although it is always hard to go past the Vevgie BBQ. So good!

Easily one of the best vegetarian meals I’ve had in Hobart. Dropped in on my lunch break was greeted and run through the options with the friendly staff. Flavours were spectacular and worth every cent.

I really really really love Lydia’s cooking and Her foods have been my number 1 to go for over 2 years! The taste is just like home and the place is in a quiet alley that you can actually relax and enjoy the moments! I always recommend anyone who love Asian Vegetarian/vegan food to try this place! Great vegan options and friendly staff!

Reasonable prices and always-changing tasty bain-marie (choice of 3) or chow mein with either rice or noodle in generous servings; or cook to order.

Prompt and friendly service and a cosy atmosphere make this my go-to for a quick vegetarian meal in the city, or there is a small park just adjacent if you prefer take-away and sunshine.

I have never had any problems or seen this closed at lunchtime, but I'm only ever there between 12-1pm.

A favourite in all of Hobart with a great range of both meat-less and meat-alternative dishes, as well as both ready-to-eat items from the fridge and hot dishes from the menu. Lunch specials are always a treat and this venue has been a hit with even the meat-eaters I know.

Chai's spicey roll has to be the best value lunch in town, and is some sort of mock meat black magic. The staff are welcoming and the curries and stirfrys are consistently excellent. Love the cook to order laksa for when I feel a cold coming on.

Such a tasty meal. Great variety, fresh and very tasty. Really reasonable pricing. Highly recommend and we will be back. Yum yum

Hidden in Mathers Lane in the city is this fantastic spot. What it lacks in presentation it makes up for in food. Any place with vegan options that aren't delivered as an afterthought get a thumbs up from me!
