Grande Vue Hotel

What a dream! The Grande Vue Hotel is way better than a home away from home. Ash and Brock have amazing taste and know how to add style and comfort. 3 of us stayed for 7 nights, over Christmas, and every day we stayed was perfect. From very comfortable beds to rushing to the kitchen to see what delicious treats Brock or his mum had baked for us! Extra touches like make up removal face towels to luxurious towelling robes… I had to be persuaded to take mine off when leaving the room! The views from our window were of the yacht harbour and watching the boats and rowing activities was captivating. We also got to enjoy the garden and had a lovely BBQ on Christmas Day (Ash’s suggestion, providing us with a BBQ).
I highly recommend that the Grande Vue Hotel is a must for anyone visiting Hobart… don’t get me started on the amazing things to do from there on an electric scooter or on foot!!

A trip into the past in this grand gracious building perfectly located with sweeping views of Hobart Harbour and the endless water. The decor of all the room is timeless and our Host Ashley went out of his way to accommodate us. Enjoyable stay & will be my go to place when I return.

A perfect place to stay. The room was elegant, airy and spotless with glorious views. Supremely comfortable with thoughtful touches like divine smelling locally produced toiletries. The shared areas - lounges and especially the kitchen were beautiful and welcoming. The location was ideal with great restaurants and the Salamanca Market on the doorstep. We hope to return.

The attention to detail is impeccable, with environmentally conscious touches like biodegradable coffee pods and a self-service breakfast that not only caters to guests' needs but also minimizes waste. The well-stocked kitchen adds a delightful touch, ensuring guests feel at home.

Ash and Brock's management sets a high standard for hospitality, in my opinion. I highly recommend The Grande Vue Hotel for its impeccable service, eco-conscious ethos, and unforgettable experience. It's a place Marcel and I will eagerly return too!

From check-in to checkout everything exceeded expectations.
Incredible location in walking distance to Cbd, amazing salamanka markets each Saturday morning, the amazing short walk to the entire pier and scenic water front, where all the beautiful restaurants are located, and boat tours leave from.
The staff are absolutely super friendly and down to earth and went above and beyond all around hospitality, and professionalism from all the team.
Never to say each afternoon there was fresh baked signature cakes made daily.
Best service ive had in years.
The room we had was exceptionally clean, magnificent breathtaking views from all windows.
Amazing comfortable sumptuous king size beds, with best quality Sheridan bed linen.
The luxurious deep spa bath was heaven with beautiful scented salts provided.
Ash and Brock have done outstanding work with beautifully decorated with all little special touches all throughout the home.
I would 100% recommend this stunning , spotless, beautiful home to any body who wants to visit battery point.

What a special place! Ash and Brock have done an incredible job with Grand Vue, from the moment you step in, you feel relaxed and feel like you are staying in a home. It is very peaceful and quiet and feel like you have the place to yourself. They have considered every detail. From the the furniture, decor, lighting, artwork, the jazz music that plays in every room, the bedroom details, the kitchen with breakfast supplies and a freshly baked cake or biscuits every day. It’s the atmospheric warm feel in this place that is really appreciated. Not to mention the incredible location and views of the water. My partner and I stayed two nights but could of stayed longer. We felt this was the perfect scenic spot to base ourselves in Hobert, we loved the fact we could still walk to Hobert and Salamanca as it was only a short walk away and loved walking back to this peaceful spot in Battery Point at the end of the day. This might be the best hotel I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. I didn't want to go out and explore the history of battery point due to the ambiance and relaxing feel of this unique hotel. The bathroom is bigger than my bedroom at home! We were originally booked at MAC01 where we usually stay but there was a huge issue to extend to two nights so I changed to this fab hotel and it will be my go to hotel in Hobart. (We have family in Hobart). My hubbie had to work and there was ample quiet pllaces for him to work. The common areas are wonderful. Very well appointed and there is not that rushed chaotic feel of breakfast between x and x. Thank you Brock and Ash.

An exquisite little gem. Superbly located in Battery point, close to the harbourside pubs, galleries, views it is peaceful with stunning views to the sea and mountain. More importantly, Ash the host, has thought of every need to provide a full range of self service breakfast options and even provided a BBQ for our Christmas meal. The house is full of character, wonderfully decorated and furnished with public rooms to relax in. Our bedroom was superb with the most comfortable bed I have enjoyed for years. Thanks for a great experience.

One of the best small boutique hotels we’ve ever stayed in. The concept was to make you feel relaxed & ‘make yourself at home’ & it worked perfectly. The historic house has been tastefully restored and beautifully decorated. There are two sitting rooms, a beautiful dining room and kitchen where guests can make their own coffee/breakfasts etc. and relax in plus 9 delightful rooms with their own kitchenettes, if you’d prefer more privacy. Ashley, couldn’t have been more helpful. We will definitely be staying there next time.

From the moment we stepped over the threshold of this beautiful home we felt as if we had been transported into a dreamscape. A bygone era of elegance, craftsmanship, sumptuousness, substance and high standards.
Our room (5) had magnificent water views of a marina, Mt Wellington to the West and a majestic conifer in the garden. A perfect platform for viewing the ever changing beauty of our surroundings. At night we were treated to a fairyland panorama of twinkling lights and Wrest Point Casino illuminated in jewel like colours. No expense has been spared when attending to sensory indulgence - plush bath robes, fluffy bath sheets, scented botanical bath salts, organic botanical hair products, calming aromas.
The signature cakes materialise in the afternoon and it is well worth hot footing it back from your wanderings to indulge in these mouth watering heirloom creations. The apple crumble cake is sensational. Many thanks to the cooks in the background.
Breakfast is included. I loved the creamy Tasmanian yoghurts and freshly stewed fruit. GF muesli was a winner too.
The common areas are beautifully decorated and furnished. I loved sitting by the fire in the evenings with a warm drink.
Snuggling into the king sized bed and gazing at the historical church on the hill and Mt Wellington beacon was a delightful prelude to sleep.
Our hosts Brock and Ash were charming and attentive as were all staff we encountered.
Battery Point is a stunning location.
So much to see and do even by foot
The highlight of our trip however was the Grand Vue Hotel and the exceptional service extended to us as guests.

We stayed here as a list minute trip to Tassie and oh my, this place is superb 👌. Beautiful building, very clean and well set out. The extra touches with the fresh food, drinks and kitchen was incredible. I fell in love with this place and this is exactly what boutique accommodation should be and is worth every cent. Bravo 👏

My first impression of the Grand Vue Hotel was how beautifully neat and well presented this property was, and this carried on inside. The fresh flowers, cleanliness and attention to detail were greatly appreciated. The Kelly room, were I stayed, was really lovely, comfortable, with outstanding views of the marina, beautiful houses and Mount Wellington. The view was great by day and also in the evening when the lights gradually came on all around. The kitchen is well stocked to make a healthy breakfast and great coffee. Breakfast in the dining room with beautiful views and planning my day was special. There are freshly baked cakes to indulge in later in the day! Battery Point, with so many charming homes, historic cottages, bakery, cafes and restaurants was the right choice. This time of the year there is an abundance of roses everywhere. I really enjoyed this. Visiting Salamanca Square and the City centre is very easy via the Kelly Steps. It was so pleasing and welcoming to return to the Grand Vue any time of the day and feel "quite at home". I would not want to stay any where else. My stay at the Grand Vue has left a lasting impression, thanks to the care, thoughtfulness and warmth of Ash, Brock and thankyou Ricardo for your kindness and care when I was leaving and it was raining.

What a fantastic hotel! Perfect location as only a short walk to Salamanca but still so peaceful and quiet. The views from our room were incredible and the hotel had a beautiful old English feel that you just don’t get with modern hotels. The whole appointment of the accommodation down to the fireplaces, complimentary port and cake, well stocked kitchen and excellent customer service , made our stay in Hobart exceptional. Thank you Ash for looking after us so well.

Four of us stayed in the top floor rooms with magnificent views of the Derwent and also Mt Wellington. We agree with other reviewers about the excellent quality of accommodation, breakfast and guest lounge, sitting and dining rooms. We had stayed 4 years ago and returned because of our good experience. Ashley & Brock have lifted the standard to a very high level. We felt very welcomed and nothing was too much trouble. The location allowed us to walk to all the eateries or tourist attractions located around the Harbour.

We will certainly return.

We had the most wonderful stay and experience at Grande Vue Hotel, Battery Point. The historic 1906 mansion is beautifully maintained by Ash and his friendly staff. The entire property, both inside and out, including our room was very clean and comfortable our entire 4 night stay. Our view over the water was breathtaking. The various lounge rooms, dining room and kitchen are meticulously maintained along with all the lovely furniture and antiques. Each morning we would have the option to have complimentary coffee, tea, muesli, yoghurt, fruit, fresh bread from Jackman & McRoss, which was so amazing and made us feel like it was our home. We can't wait to be back again in 2024 for another beautiful stay and time in Battery Point. Thank you Ash for your lovely hospitality.

We just spent three nights at the Grand Vue and we feel like we’ve had a lovely relaxed stay at a good friends home. The old house is beautiful, the views simply stunning, the communal areas are so welcoming and our room was very comfortable and very clean. We didn’t lack anything. It was heaven to return in the cold later afternoon to a cuppa and a slice of whatever freshly baked good was on offer and the self service breakfast was really handy and yum. The location was brilliant, picturesque streets to walk and easy access to hobart cbd and the waterfront. Without a doubt we will return next time in Hobart, thank you so much for such a wonderful experience.

One of the loveliest hotels I have ever stayed. This hotel was everything, I loved the interior inside and the room was a stunner 🥹🧡
The view from the room was amazing and lovely and gave homey feeling.

It was a very easy checked in and Ash was so responsive and nice.
The location was also strategically located, very nearby to Salamanca Market (yup, we walked and that was not far anyway)

Absolutely unique hotel and experience. The hotel exudes a warm welcome, from the spacious communal sitting rooms, to the deliciously aromatic (and well stocked) kitchen, to the comfortable and elegant dining room, to the luxurious, tastefully furnished rooms. It was like coming home, if you lived in a gorgeous, grand home of great taste. We had high expectations and they were universally exceeded. Thank you Brock, Ashley and staff.
