L'espresso

We stopped in for an impromptu lunch following the Tweed Ride for the Ballarat Heritage festival on Saturday, and even though they were about to finish lunch service, they still managed to fit 4 of us in for lunch. We sat outside in the lovely sunshine and enjoyed some beautiful pasta, gnocchi & and steak sandwich. We would definitely head back there for a meal. The coffee was great and the staff very friendly.

This great Café has got to be in the top 5 in Ballarat. It constantly provides excellent service, coffee, and food with a wonderful outdoor area that is always clean and dog friendly. Too many establishments in this town struggle to maintain a quality standard across all areas. Fortunately, L'espresso always delivers impressively.

The little cafe was dimly lit for a relaxing atmosphere, the staff were lovely, my eggs Benny were delicious with a special touch of pesto and the coffee was amazing!!

Been a regular for about 25yrs and it’s always consistently good- service, coffee, food. Staff and owners don’t mind if you’re alone for just a coffee or meal or show up with others- they do their best to make room and make you feel welcome. Only change is not being able to go back to pre-covid open hours cos I miss the old-school glam Friday night dinners by candlelight. Always my first recommend to others.

Excellent chocolate chip cookies, freshly squeezed orange juice (my fav) and the cinnamon scrolls are one of the best I had, so flaky and buttery. Highly recommend!

Best gnocchi and risotto ever plus friendly and lovely service by everyone. Wish I could go there every week.

Pretty top food. I had some chilli prawn pasta which was amazing. Such good clean food. Really taste and really fresh. I also had an apple cake and a coffee with was also really great. Worth travelling to Ballarat for! Amazing service staff as well. Super friendly!

Fabulous breakfast, Cafe. The food was delicious, and the coffee was so good I had a second cup. I loved the eclectic quirky atmosphere and the obvious flow of regulars who knew their host as well as he knew them and their order. This is how a local Cafe should be. Love ❤ 👏🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Had lunch here with my family, food was excellent. Will happily return if in town again. I mean come on, its 9 days later and I am still thinking about the meal. (Duck, Gnocchi and the salads were standouts).

Remarkably good food, friendly and fast service and good coffee. Salads were good, pastas were excellent and the passion fruit Cronuts were to die for! Highly recommended by a fussy Melbourne foodie.

LOVED THE HASH BROWN!!!! if u ever go here THIS is what u must have. Was a bit suprised at the price of the food but it was worth it because the proportion was meant for one person n not 3! Thank goodness. Got salad with every meal, and the food was as if my mum cooked. The rustic homey feel. And the decor.......brilliant! Coffee was normal and hits the spot

Delicious food and coffee. Quick, professional service and cool atmosphere. I moved interstate in 2010 and still miss this place.

What a find!!! This cafe is just brilliant. A warm inviting atmosphere on a cold Ballarat day. The coffee is no less than perfect and you won't be able to stop at just one. Devine cakes and pastry made freshly on premises. The savoury menu is extremely well thought out, complex while fresh. Sardines with potato rosti for me. Polite, friendly and attentive staff. Music themed for added interest.

Was greeted and warmly welcomed immediately by a handsome, young, blue eyed man, who showed us to our table.
A young lady brought the menus to us straight away and took our drink order.
The food came out promptly, and was cooked to perfection. We ordered the eggs Florentine with added bacon and the poached eggs with added mushrooms.
We had an iced chocolate and a hot chocolate…best hot chocolate I’ve ever had.
Cannot fault, the service, the establishment, or the food. Absolutely fantastic breakfast which really made our day.

Went looking for a nice coffee in Ballarat found this little gem. Warm welcome, great coffee, including decafe. Attentive staff and tasty sourdough toast cooked to perfection. Thanks

ABSOLUTE GEM IN CENTRAL BALLARAT
We went out hunting for breakfast early on a Sunday morning and found L'espresso open from 8 am :)
It's Italian themed and is very cozy inside (it was 6 degrees the early spring morning we ate there!) and would be equally delightful at the al fresco tables in the warmer weather. Menu is very expansive with great options for vegetarian and vegan customers. Coffee is about the best I've had outside my usual haunts in Melbourne! Staff were really bubbly and attentive.
People with mobility issues will be fine as its all on one level floor.

As always L'Espresso is terrific. Friendly helpful staff, excellent coffee and a mushroom bruschetta to die for. It's my Ballarat go to and it has never disappointed.

In my opinion the best cafe in Ballarat. Such good food, the French Crueller donut is so good you will be instantly addicted.

Had to wait a few minutes to get a table but it was well worth it. Delicious food. Good coffee. Friendly staff. 70's Record store ambience.
