Apollo Bay Bakery

Ordered the scallop mornay pie, steak and mushroom pie, steak, bacon and cheese pie, they are all good! Price is very affordable too. We decided to condume the pie at the tables in front of the shop.

This is probably the best regional bakery, the prices reflect this, the meat is just completely different taste the whole pies are perfection

We ordered 4 different pies to try. Steak and Onion taste normal, cannot really notice the onion in it. It will be nice if there's more onion. The Curry Scallop, Scallop Mornay, and Garlic Prawn are delicious. My personal favourites are Garlic Prawn and Scallop Mornay. Both pies wow me on the 1st bite. It's unique and flavourful. Do not regret driving 1.5 hours to Apollo Bay just to have the pies. The coffee is equally good and strong. Great pairing with the pies.

The best scallop pie I have ever tried. Worth the lines and the wait. They do have a large selection of pies and sweets as well.

Perfect place to get seafood pies by the beach. We got the prawn, scallop, and salmon/barramundi. Scallop has a lovely curry flavor and the salmon/barramundi is dill. All three were great and a perfect meal for exploring the great ocean road!

Stopped by for a post-lunch snack while on the way to the 12 Apostles on a Great Ocean Road Tour. Delicious, hot scallop pie! Tried the curry, which is their recommended/most popular and it was really good. They sell frozen pies for you to take home too!

Recommended by a mate from Melbourne. Definitely a must visit along the way to 12 Apostles. They are popular for their Scallop Pies.

We visited in early August 2023 morning as we were staying nearby…The scallop mornay pie was good! Great way to start the morning together with a nice cup of coffee!!

The best place to grab a quick bite if you're on a Great Ocean Road tour. Speedy service and scalding hot scallop pies served conveniently in takeaway packages.

Got a Scallop Mornay Pie and Black Coffee at 6am in the morning. Pie was quite nice, juicy and hot on the inside. Had quite a few large pieces of scallops. Enjoyed this although scallop might not be local to Apollo Bay (do not quote me on this). If you don't like the seafood/fishy smell in the morning, then do not get it.

Tried the chilli sausage pastry too, not really liking the soft texture and weird chilli sauce flavour. Black coffee was fine, but the cup and the lid just kept leaking and leaking, not sure what's wrong but it leaked all over my hands and in the car...

Anyway, still a nice bakery to support while you're in Apollo Bay!

The scallop pies are very good, only had 2 options when we went there, cheese scallop pie which hubby said was very good and I had the Curry scallop pie which was yum. They even had frozen pies of various flavours foe you to buy and cook at home. Very busy little place

Fantastic stop on the GOR for lunch. Great recommendation from STL, we met the owner Sally when we walked in who was an absolute gem. Absolutely try their curry scallop pie. So fresh and amazing flavor. Need something sweeter? Grab a sweet and take it on the road.

We were on a road trip and wanted to make it to the bakery before it closed to try an Australian pie. We were sadly a few minutes late but the staff welcomed us in despite being in the process of closing. We tried two pies based on their recommendations: the scallop morney pie and the beef and Guinness pie. Both were delicious and a great first Aussie pie! Thank you!

We got the curried scallop pie and the garlic prawns pie which were amazing!!! They both tasted like some kind of chowder inside the pies. Best pies we ever had and we are usually not fans of pies.
In terms of price, I think it’s reasonable considered that they were generous with their scallops and prawns :)

We have fond memories of the scallop pies while traveling in Tasmania so we are always on the lookout for scallop pies outside of Tasmania. Needless to say and thanks for Google, we were excited to find the scallop pies at Apollo Bay Bakery. We were impressed with their scallop pies and thumbs up with the generous amount of scallops inside the pies, and loved both the flavours (curried and mornay) too. The mornay scallop pie is unique (to us as we only had the curried scallop pies in Tassie). The staff was super friendly and welcoming too !

All the ladies behind the counter were very welcoming, I was extremely sleep deprived so I was a little slow in ordering but they were patient and kind. Food and coffee were tasty. The passion fruit cake was top notch, not too sweet which is perfect as it doesn't overthrow your taste buds to sugar. Will come here again when down this way.

I got both the mornay and curry scallop pies and they were really good! The curry is pretty subtle and brings out the flavour of the scallop, enhancing the meatiness of it.

But my favourite is the mornay. It’s creamy and goes really well with the scallop. It leaves me wanting for more.

They can be a bit more on the expensive side at $12 each, but the scallops are really good, and the pastry is great as well. Do come and try it while you’re here!

This is a lovely place to have lunch and try their famous pies. I recommend one of their most famous ones: Scallop & Curried Leek Pie. I ate it so quickly that I forgot to even take a picture of it. Even though it was very busy, we got the pies quite quickly and the staff were nice and friendly. So definitely recommend trying this place out for it pies!!
