Beautiful small cove with a small beach (mix of stones/sand). Best for swimming and snorkeling than sunbathing (imo). Very quiet on a Monday in late October, but the water was 22 degrees and comfortable for swimming. If you snorkel out of the cove to the left (south), there are underwater rock formations that have more aquatic life than in the cove itself. The road to the cove was fine (we had a 4wd but it wasn't necessary). I recommend parking in the area about 500m from the two beaches then walking.

Beautiful little bay with a cave with crystal clear water. I went early and it was quiet at first, but at 10 it was already crowded, because it's a small place and popular. I came on foot from Livadhe Beach, but if you come by car, beware, the road is bad sometimes with big holes and big stones.

The way there is a but bumpy so you have to be very careful when driving there but it’s worth it. One of the most beautiful beaches i have ever seen. We were there alone to enjoy the sunset.

Gjiri i Akuariumit, a stunning destination! With its beautiful bay, crystal-clear water, and accessibility through short hikes from Jale or Livadh, as well as by boat, it seems like a must-visit spot for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a serene beach experience. The combination of natural beauty and ease of access makes it a promising location to explore.

I went there by car from Livadhi than walked for 15 minutes to arrive at the beach. There is also a small bar 5 minutes walk from there so you don't need to put everything in your bag before your walk. The place is amazing.

Little beach with great view after 20min of a walk
The water is so clear and you have a bar 5 min away on the next beach
You can park your car at the Bougainvillea for 500 leks a day.

The beach is amazing. The people are not. If you are reading this and planning on going there here are a few tips : reach it from jala, the road is unpaved but you can get a lot closer, 10-15 minutes walk. Bring food and beverages with you, there is nothing there. Also if you care about nature take a plastic bag to take away your trash and maybe other trash thats already left there by irresponsible people.

Very nice beach, the road to it is a bit rough, but it's worth the effort

Nice place, but hard to get to with children (well.. the same road goes all the way to the beach but farther in it gets worse at some points, so I walked there). My only biggest disappointment are people,... the beach itself if clean but by the time you get there you will find allot of trash and broken glass left by human beings. There also was a guy renting umbrellas if you need one. The water is beautiful, and the view on the way there is amazing, I had a blast. Also didn't see any WC, so yeah 😅. Also probably worth mentioning I was driving from the side of Himara town.

I had seen a lot of magical photos of this hidden gem so I put it in my visit list. I was attracted by its crystal clear water and its location but I was sad for reading every comment telling for the garbages at the beach and throughout the way there. As I went there by 4x4 car I bought garbage bags and at the end of the day when I was ready to leave the beach I cleaned all the place around. Got shocked by the amount of leftovers.
One kind advice: future visitors please 🙏🏼 before you depart from the beach take your garbages with you and let them on the road asphalt of Livadh or Jale, it’s a shame that place to become again at the condition it was today…south albania is such a dream 😇

2 kilometres from Jale beach, there is a beautiful beach called “Aquarium Bay” or “Gjiri i Akuariumit”. This is one of the best kept secret beaches closed to Jale beach. A wonderful, small and calm beach, with crystal clear water and rocks from which you can jump off to explore more of this bay🌊🌊

One if not the best beach in Albania.
@visitors: Please take your trash with you.

hard to get but totally worthy. I got there with some flipflops and my kids, they loved it. but I recommend to take your own food and don't forget to take your garbage back

A bit of a walk to get there, but totally worth it. Unspoiled nature, crystal clear water.

This was one of the most beautiful beaches I have been to. Very secluded and only saw a few other people during the entire day. Unfortunately there has been quite a but of littering as in other parts of southern Europe. You can get from the northernmost part of Djale beach by walking along a marked but slightly rough trail. It took me approximately 10-15 minutes.

Astonishing remote bay, highly recommend if you are nearby. Wondering to get there? Read below.

If you want to go by car, go through Jale and not through Livadh. It’s impossible and painful to go through Livadh with a regular car/suv due to the road conditions. If you go through Jale, you even have a free parking spot 7 minutes away from the Akuarium bay. It’s remote, so please contribute on keeping it clean.

Another thing you can do is rent a small canoe-type boat and reach it by sea, either from Himare or from Jale (closer).

Best place to visit in Himara coastline. The road wasn't very comfortable for a family car so its necessary to walk 15 minutes. There are not bars or restaurants near the place.

Wonderful beach! Beautiful and not crowded. No umbrellas as well!
If you like here, you can also try Palase beach
